Watching white drunk as he kicked all their asses was pretty good but reading the wikipedia page they make it sound like he was some strategic mastermind who got much stronger by the end of the second season, but I only remember Shana fighting and Yuji just kind of existing and being a plot device.

Depends on how invested you are in the story and how often you discuss it with other anons.
For example I can name over half the characters in World Trigger but can't remember for the life of me who's on whose side in Attack on Titan.

Not so much a hiatus but this is me with OPM right now.

You guys do plan on making more threads despite the lack of new content out of respect for the manga as well as possibly more anons picking it up, right?

The thing is, this is not the kind of manga you can easily lure people into picking it up. Both its comedy and romance are subtle, so even though it's brilliant in context, it doesn't look interesting out of it. Threads will die pretty fast because lack of interest. There is a reason people are still consuming shitty, cookie cutter harem and isekai trash: they're eyecatching and easy to pick up.
I just hope that the author will come back soon with something of similar quality, and that time, hopefully we won't have to wait until after that series is over to read it.

Nope, this is their very first series. In fact, it was the author's last attempt to become a professional mangaka. If thing had't worked out then they would have called it quit and gone home..
