“Magic!” Haruhiro called out to her. “Merry, use magic. You have to heal. Hurry. Merry.”
Merry inhaled sharply.
Was Merry trying to breathe? Or to say something? Haruhiro moved his face away a little, and looked at her face.
Why was it? Why did she have a smile on her face? Wasn’t she suffering? Didn’t it hurt? Wasn’t she scared?

It always triggered my autism in RPG type games that bows are tied to dexterity and there was never any strength consideration unless you took a specific feat which doesn't make any sense because you can be the most dextrous finger wizard in the world but if you can't manage the draw weight on that mastercrafted longbow it won't fucking matter.

I played a STR ranger yestrady and carried my group hard. Also you need those gains to carry all that loot.

Akshually STR Rangers are actually pretty good, it's essentially one of the best ways to build a dual wielding martial that isn't forced to use finessable weapons and doesn't rely on sneak attacks.

You can make a pretty good STR Ranger who focuses on weapons that be thrown like handaxes. That way you can use your STR to attack rolls and damage both in melee and at range.

Ranger is melee/ranged hybrid. I mean, it's great if you can throw boulders and great axes and horses and all that, but you still need some DEX in order to hit your target.

Ranger builds in 3.5 and 3.pf were all about the composite longbow, which added STRbonus to damage
3.pf ranger was also highly effective with greatswords for whatever reason

In older DnD like 2nd edition (stuff like BG and such), ranger was a warrior class, just like fighter or paladin, with some mild divine spellcasting, stealth and animal charm ability. They even had the percentile str bonus like fighters. I don't know why people always imagine an ottermode dude with a bow when they think of a ranger.

I guess. But Legolas is more of an Elf archetype, not ranger. Aragorn is an okay ranger and he mostly used a two handed sword. In movies he also fought multiple giants in cqc. He was strong as fuck.
