It's like the Mahoromatic future, the characters make offhand references to having done the adventure to collect the Panty cubes, to having earned their way back into Heaven, there's a new girl that's just casually mentioned to be Panty's and Stocking's mom after 4 episodes, and everyone is still fucking around and doing the same thing.

something like Code Geass R2 where it looks like a reboot until suddenly BOOM plot-twist, but the "reboot" state of things stays for 10 out of 12 episodes for people to think the previous season ending got retconned, but then it's actually not.
