Hisagi and Shinji’s bankai were shown in the LN’s that Kubo shepherded so Narita could elaborate on ideas he never had time for. Shinji’s makes everyone in range confuse allies with enemies, but it also effects his own allies hence him not using it. Hisagi’s, I think, links both parties in a fight so they share each other’s pain and for some reason both are unable to die while fighting (I think the idea is that Kazeshini’s main body in Shikai isn’t the scythes, it’s the chain linking them.

Most Ban-kai are outrageous and often flashy. That is the draw of Bleach in general.

Maybe, possibly. It might let him fire FGT tier slashes. I think a more effective slash is just where Ichigo takes his powers every time. His entire thing is wanting to wield a sword to cut down the bad guy and protect everyone. His sword is a cleaver that is clearly only good for one thing: power slash. His quincy powers didn't seem to change anything about what his sword does, it just gave him better control of his massive energy, in the form of body enhancements(speed and energy cloak), and energy manipulation(compression of his sword and the control of black getsuga). On that note, I think black getsuga is just a high density energy emission achievable by good energy control. That's why it's more manipulable and why black cero is noted as a similar technique. Anyway, his actual shinigami powers might be something subtle, but the way Ichigo always applies his powers is not subtle. He wants to cut you down, so no matter what his powers actually do, he's going to develop them to do that more effectively in a direct way. If his powers were good luck he would use good luck during physical training and trying to cut you

Because Kubo wrote it all poetic and philosophical it became a bit confusing at first. But her bankai was literally just acid blood that melted Kenpachi, and Unohana just instantly healed him up, melted him, healed him, repeat. And because Kenpachi apparently was a Sayian he became stronger and stronger each "death".

It's not that he got stronger. Kenpachi doesn't get stronger. He was already stronger than Unohana as a brat, but started subconsciously nerfing himself so he could enjoy his fights more. are you talking about ichigo landing the final hit on him? because i'm not. i'm talking about making yhwach a ridiculously op character from the start and only making him stronger with each chapter. the guy fucked over yamamoto, killed ichibei (the leader of a squad of 5 people whose combined power was said to surpass the entirety of the gotei13) by unlocking his power, then he absorbed the god of the world and afterwards his own subordinates, among which was gerard who was toying with bankai kenpachi, matured bankai hitsugaya and byakuya. he got so fucking strong that only a deus ex machina could harm him (that silver clot arrow), which doesn't even make sense since his ability made him able to see into each and every possible future, so why was he unable to see this? was it hinted anywhere that this silver was some sort of blind spot? nigga could even rewrite his death and he could instantly alter timelines in any way he saw fit, as seen when he just destroyed ichigo's bankai the second he released it. it just doesn't make sense and goes to show that kubo had no idea how to kill this character because he made him so strong that he couldn't be defeated by any normal means, so he sort of got killed by himself. it's very similar to what happened to madara.

adding to this, the same applied to gerard. it's just ridiculous that kenpachi, who was hinted at throughout the whole story as possibly the most powerful being in the entire universe when he finally unlocked his true abilities, only got like 5 pages where he actually let loose, only to be countered by the biggest asspull possible in the form of fucking miracles. hitsugaya unlocked the true power of his bankai in the same fight and they literally killed him, but he came back even stronger because LMAO MIRACLES XD where it came to the point that he could only get killed by yhwach's auswählen. the final fights were messy as hell.

He's a false God with actual divine sovereignty over souls, so he had absolute power over those who fit niceley into the categories of entities. The things that can actually fuck him up are those which don't fit niceley into a neat little box (mixed breeds like Ichigo, jack-of-all vs minmaxer) and those that defy fate (the nugget arrow, facebook's power)

but no matter how you read it, you can't say that yhwach and his final battle was handled well while maintaining a straight face. everything about it was completely anticlimatic with ridiculously short hype moments here and there. ichigo assuming his new hollow form, using gran rey cero and unleashing his bankai are the only ones i remember. and it was utterly stupid what kubo did in the final battles, considering the build up he did with ichigo never being able to fully utilize his powers and only hinting at what he was truly capable off at times, only to wrap it up with "oops he's so strong that i can't let him use his power lmao" and destroying his bankai the second time in one arc.

Renji's first Bankai honestly kinda sucks and I'm glad Kubo thought up some bullshit to change it. He has arguably the best fucking shikai in the entire comic from a design standpoint and while the Bankai sounds good on paper, in practice it's too huge and unwieldy to really do anything with. Making it just the canon at the end allowed for interesting combat possibilities, even if Kubo never actually did shit with it

That isn't what happened. Like everyone else, Kenpachi has zero experience using his Bankai the first time, and the kickback from using his max output damaged his body. kenpachi being too strong wasn't the issue, he bifurcated gerard and after he regenerated he got frozen and shattered to pieces by hitsugaya and byakuya. none of them really jobbed, gerard just bullshitted himself back into existence.

That tends to be the tradeoff, the really cool looking Bankai like Ikkaku's tend to be really shitty.

It operates as every other user-specific power in Bleach: it comes from your heart, you can't consciously choose it, but it reflects you. So Lloyd brothers were all about mimicking, so that's what they do, As was consumed by fear and his powers reflects that, James wanted to be a hero. Name is a matter of choice though, and some are just "customary" as power doesn't come from Yhwach.
