This series is probably one of the more popular non-shounen manga series on Yea Forums.
It's not that they couldn't, they certainly have the ability to do so if Sensei isn't awake, but since it's just to torment Sensei, they don't have to try very hard as long as they capture a gem every hundred years or so. Who knows, maybe they did try just capturing all of them at once at times, but keeping the pressure on constantly means he can't ever let his guard down and they're not exactly in a rush if their plan will take potentially hundreds of thousands of years at least to complete.

I like the change in tone and style, as it's appropriate for the contents of the volumes, but it feels like the quality of the art itself went down. The manga's art has been better than ever besides her losing interest in drawing the gem material gemlike, and that's part of the problem with said covers, but what bothers me most is that they barely feel like cover art for some reason. Compared to the rest they're a little too tangible, pretty much directly depicting things that happened; the earth/moon confrontation and the wedding. You could argue that about Vol 7's, except the actual Lapis dream wasn't so physically intimate. It looks like he's prying Phos' head off himself here, which says a lot about how Ichikawa thinks of their relationship.
I get the feeling that since original Morga was on the cover without Goshe, and we're never going to see him again, it's unlikely we'll see NuGoshe, Morga, and then NuMorga, but no original Goshe. I'm interested to see if we'll ever see another gem on the cover at all, I'd still bet we'll see a lone Phos cover, and that the final volume will be a Shinsha cover.

One issue is that HnK threads aren't as well trafficked as most others, meaning they are quickly wiped off the board.

I feel like that's intended though, the lunarians care only about their own desires. The moon gems have been spinning their wheels, though they learned some science, ultimately they haven't achieved anything while on the moon and continue to go by leisurely activities instead. Their determination is lost and they have no goal to work towards. I hope there will be a "this is nice, but I feel like there's part of me that's dying" moment for the moon gems.
I could be completely wrong, but Ichikawa isn't stupid, maybe this is her playing to the "happy end" crowd, showing them that this isn't what they want, that gems and lunarians peacefully coexisting isn't a fulfilling ending.

The anime is just someone showing off what they can do with CGI. There is nothing great about it, it's a braindead anime for people who don't have functional brains. The mangaka is just making shit up as he goes and forgetting what he wrote before. Characters get introduced and immediately dropped, plot points get introduced and immediately dropped, characters find out something and then they forget about it immediately, it never goes anywhere. It's the same episode over and over, Phos wants to do something and runs into the goofy moon people, Phos gets rekt, Phos has to be saved, Phos feels bad. Rinse and repeat.
Nothing significant happened in all of the episodes outside of Phos getting powerups. The mangaka doesn't know where the story is going and why you should care, other than Phos may be going to the moon eventually.
The whole bit about Cinnabar was completely pointless, just a waste of time. It's like the anime thinks this is supposed to be some kind of a friendship, but there's nothing there.

The problem is the last 3 months started good with INORE and then there was NO chapter in June, a shortened chapter in July and the July chapter didn't really have much except what was already happening in the May chapter.
The August chapter we will see if the story really does come to a suddenly conclusion or if the author has things fail and the Sea Arc to discover lost human knowledge/why the world got nuked in the first place begins.

I truly doubt that the 2-3 chapter buildup of him was just a red herring given he was the first gem and the whole Lapis ordeal proves Phos can absorb other gems as dream flashbacks. Particularly Lapis is essentially worthless compared to Phosphophyllite, and it isn't even a crystal, it is in fact the only actual official rock in the series if I remember correctly. I didn't have a problem with the aliasing. From what I've seen the one that supposedly gets rid of the aliasing also affects textures and stuff occasionally. I have the 1080p kuchikirukia release, which seems fine to me. There's also the constant argument about whether he/she/they should be used in the subtitles. The one I have uses "he", which is more of a direct translation of the Japanese.

Almost everyone thinks she's a fashion addict who puts way too much effort into disposable clothes and unnoticeable accessories (which in fact is the case).
Most gems seem to be simple-minded enough and attracted to kawaii stuff that cutesy trends like the Shiro plushies easily take off, but their whole society doesn't have a way of starting those in the first place since they don't really need anything. Even their clothes are basically the easiest combination of a common sense of decency instilled by Sensei and some practical tips to avoid scratching each other and to make Lunarians collecting their bodyparts harder.

I don't think there's any point to that when the series already occurs over very long timescales from a human perspective anyway. You have to ask what the difference would be between having Sensei suffer for billions of years rather than tens of thousands.

But it's not. The whole point of Sensei's character arc is that he was made to keep the past alive by helping humanity pass on and survive as nothing but a relic, but he was complicit in mankind's inability to just disappear and became a living contradiction when he started to love the gems. His whole crux revolves on whether his existence was worth it because of the gems or not.

It isn't that detailed and it's sometimes hard to discern characters but I think it looks nice and especially like how it uses black backgrounds at times and on the moon everything is white or gray. The CGI is nice too but the anime and manga have two different appeals visually.

You might be right, it would also make sense as an explanation for how they are. Seeing how a lot of the lunarians are basically amiable, except Aechmea and the generic lunarians early on, I'm wondering if they really were inherently bad when they were humans, like Aechema suggests, or if they were just unlucky in having too many attachments. They indulge in human pleasures, but that's just a part of their nature that they're unable to get rid of. They realise their existence is unnatural and want to end it and their productive energies are directed towards that, but they have a near insurmountable challenge in the form of Sensei and so passing the time frivolously is all they have, if we also assume they're inherently tied to the moon and can't really leave it for long periods of time. They hunt the gems but don't seem to take pleasure in being inherently antagonistic. Maybe they've spent so much time on the moon that most of their "bad" nature has changed into something else.

It's right in her fucking name to be autistic, do you even know what real life borts are and what they're made for? The original Bortz-Dia pairing reflected how the borts are supposed to polish and better the diamonds via grinding and removing the impurities, which of course is going to be a hurtful if needed process. Bortz being super autistic incarnates how his strength is as direct and anti-moe as possible just as the bort are not actual gemstones -so Bortz tries to do entirely without beautiful manners both in fighting and interpersonal relationships. Of course poor Diamond is the opposite of that and couldn't stand being on the receiving end of the process because she doesn't value strength at all, while Phos and Shinsha could.
It's going to be interesting to see how Bort's character is going to evolve from here, seeing as his landmark feature is gone and armed conflict has halted for centuries. It's probably going to point toward the development of some sort of inner strength rather than purely physical.

The alterations in phos' body is all related to the 7 treasures in Buddhism. Gold, Silver, Pearl, Lapis Lazuli, Agate, Seashell, and Cornelian.
Gold and silver refers to their gold and platinum alloy arms. Pearl is the Prince's synthetic eye. Lapis lazuli is their head. Agate and seashell would be their legs. And lastly Cornelian has yet to appear, but it could be any red gem. Padparadscha could be one choice, another would be Mercury, or even cinnabar.

The Bortz discussion inspired me to make this.
I wanted to visually show how peculiar Phos is and how her relationships in the manga reflect actual gem properties: phosphophyllite is actually valuable and sought after as a material itself but not really suited to be a proper gemstone because of how brittle it is, which puts manga Phos in a unique position too.
Similarly, all the gems whom Phos is closer to (maybe with the single exception of vol 1 Dia) are NOT used in real life jewelry, despite the manga being fucking named Land of the Jewels.
Notable stuff: phantom quartz (Ghost) is unique as its value as a gemstone does not derive from its base material but the beautiful effect of incorporating another mineral. Also manga Padparadscha follows the rule by which all Phos' closest friends are deply flawed too, but said flaw isn't based on anything in real life mineralogy as far as I'm aware of.

I feel like the anime would be much better at conveying the uncanny feeling that the moon is supposed to have in that specific setting. Without the constraints of panel space and pages per issue you can showcase a bit more how bizarre the moonies look from Phos' perspective when compared to the stillness of the Earth and the existence of a city state made of giant crystals on the moon's surface where immortal disembodied spirits live.
Imagine some more external shots like pic related and seeing these huge, constantly melting spaces glistening with a milky glow. Plus you can show earth gems scenes in the middle of a moon episode to remark the difference too.
