Did Isekai better than anyone else before it was even a trend

>Did Isekai better than anyone else before it was even a trend

Why even fucking bother? To add more shit to this trashheap of a genre when you’ll never beat Digimon 01

this
redpilled op

It's actually a good genre with potential for it but what we can do if all people can come up with are fucking video game RPG + dating sim shit, at a point that the genre is being wrongly defined by that when it just means being in another world. Digimon 01 was good because it was an isekai with none of that bullshit for neets.

Isekai isn't the problem, it's the unoriginal copy pasted settings + RPG mechanics that is the real problem. Digimon Adventure was great because of how mysterious the digital world was.

>potential
What potential hasn’t been tapped into already?
Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter, and Narnia are all Isekai going by your definition. I think everything that could be done with the genre, has been done already. And has been done for a long time. Digimon works well because it’s not just Isekai, but also a monster raising type show with Kaiju battles, and is very character driven. The Isekai is mostly there to introduce the plot and add survivalist elements, it’s not the core focus of the story though. The problem with most Isekai is that they focus too much in “life in this fantasy videogame world” escapist nonsense, and not enough on their characters.

But that’s the problem isn’t it? When people think of Isekai it’s always the same lame-brain RPG world fantasy setting with videogame mechanics. No one ever bothers to think outside of the established trend and into what Isekai should be.

How is harry potter isekai? last time I checked, wizards are thing from his world, he isn't teleported to a different one.

Harry Potter makes a common point of the “wizarding world” which can only be accessed by spellcasters.

Still doesn't make it isekai.
Hidden world ≠ Isekai

Not isekai.

It’s a separate world from the real one, and Harry, especially in the first book, takes a lot of getting adjusted to it and its culture. How’s it not Isekai?

>It’s a separate world from the real one
It literally isn't.

Holy shit calm down Tumblr.

Attached: smug galil soda.jpg (720x720, 116K)

You are forcing it, it just isn't. Different society in the same world.

Fantastic beasts and where to find them which is a prequel literally has a real world where humans and wizards live together, it's all in the same world despite them being hidden

>series is called Digimon Adventure
>only season where they actually go on an adventure
What did 02 and Tri mean by this?

But user, isekai has ALWAYS existed even before digimon.

Attached: 230px-Thosewhohuntelves.jpg (230x330, 23K)

Starting it off as a Summer Camp Trip gone wrong, and still retaining those survivalist elements in the first part was a brilliant move on the writers’ part. Digimon 01 gets so many little things just perfectly right.

It urban fantasy, not isekai.

The other world is still symbiotic with the modern world, and that's antithetical to an MC being completely cut off from anything they once knew (even if in the initial acclimation phase).

Someone post the brother fucker.

Why is there so little digimon doujins? I want to see Kairi gangraped goddamn it

Who the fuck is Kairi?

Hikari whatever

I always found her very attractive when I was a kid. I dunno why. But she was my first anime crush back when I was 9/10.

>Did Isekai better than anyone
Escaflowne did it 3 years prior.

*obligatory smug reminder*

Where does the Hikari brocon meme come from anyway? I said a few 'mon threads back I would be rewatching at least the first three series to fill in my memory and having just finished Adventure/02, I can't say I noticed it, to be honest. Is my het radar just that weak or is it something that comes up in another series, post Tamers?

Hosoda explaining episode 21.

Hungry incestfags taking what is supposed to be a dream episode literally. The director of the episode also says the episode is a love triangle between Hikari-Taichi-Koromon.

>hidden Isekai

Best ship

Attached: best ship.jpg (339x712, 51K)

Agreed. But Digimon is even closer to "trapped in a videgame" and it was 20 years ago.

If it was done today Taichi would have to be the harem MC.

And he would still get cucked like the bitch that he is.

Purest ship

Why was there suddenly a massive increase in quality for this episode?

The director for that his own animation style, he also did the pilot ova and Our War Game.
The fact that they didn't bring him back for what is supposed to be the last Adventure entry is dumb.

Leomon is joocy as fuck.

Yeah.

Damnit OP I just want to talk about this show but you're just going to attract shitflinging saying something like that.

Attached: bastard.jpg (320x304, 25K)

Probably been asked a thousand times, but what's Yea Forums's opinion on sub vs dub for Tamers?
I'm a streambabby and I keep finding episodes of the sub missing with only the dub or skipping as alternatives, as of now I've been skipping for the sake of consistency. I did rewatch the dub some years back and I seem to remember the OST in the dub being stronger, but not much else.

>I just want to talk about this show
Alright, let's start. Is Digimon the most dishonest anime franchise?

Uh on, this is getting kinky. This is the kind of stuff that fucks you up when you see it as a kid. Seeing this is stirring up a weird feeling deep in my memory banks.

Digimon 01 sucked my ass. Digimon 02 was better, though I wouldn't watch Digimon again now as an adult. It's literally a show for young children.

Worst villain.

Only a lewd kid would have lewd thoughts when watching that.

That would be a different genre.

Literal sex pervert.

It becomes really apparent at the end of Tri movie 5.

>He doesn't like the brapping rock n roll pajama monkey
Not gonna make it, user

I think Digimon Adventure was the show that really introduced to me the concept of arcs and overarching plot when I was a kid. There was just nothing else like it on Saturday morning.

Fake and gay.
Why would an interviewer ask questions like these?

Because Japan

Lot o' Digimon threads lately

Butthurt Sword and Shield fans migrating. No National Dex was that big of a deal breaker.

Is this real?

It's the 20 year anniversary of digimon you vapid retard.

Go back to your contaminant board.

Yes, we had multiple threads when it dropped.

>Yes, we had multiple threads when it dropped.
how do I find them in the archives?

Who gives a shit about the 20 year anniversary of digimon? Nobody even knows that

Check the date on the picture and look for digimon threads around that time.

>Be a retard.
>immediately assume everyone is as retarded as you.

I'm a retard because I don't know it's the 20th anniversary of a children's cartoon? Get a life, loser LOL

>Shit on someone for watching a children cartoon
>While playing Pokemon

So yeah you are retarded.

Have you forgotten where you're posting?

At least Pokemon isn't isekai.

The metal etemon arc legitimately terrified me in the original.

So you're the type to judge solely based on a quality you perceive is objectively shit because some anonymous said isekai are bad. Do you have any sense of self awareness at all? Or are you still too young to start critically thinking?

imdb gives Digimon a 7.3/10 rating, while giving Pokemon a 7.4/10 rating, which means Pokemon is objectively better

You're baiting but Digimon is not actually better than Pokemon, just not as popular.

>all the feminine parts of her Grade 2 body

>How’s it not Isekai?
For the same reason why a story about someone going past the Iron Curtain during the cold war isn't isekai despite how "different" the other side is.
Virtual Reality, which is a simulation that can be entirely destroyed but gunning down the servers isn't isekai either.
And neither is traveling to another planet via a regular spaceship (unless it's an multiversal/interuniversal flight).
The only thing that counts as "isekai" is literally "moving from one universe (usually our Earth) to another".

It wasn't even the best Isekai on Fox Kids

Attached: it happened.jpg (480x360, 23K)

We have to go even older

Attached: 39_main.jpg (1200x1787, 1.09M)

Isekai literary translates into “different world” and is a genre where MCs are revived or transported to a fantasy world, typically as the “chosen one.”

Harry Potter suits it to a T. The Iron Curtain isn’t a fantasy land, and most people know it exists. The Wizarding World, like the Digital world is unknown to most normal people.

It doesn’t have to be a parallel universe. It just has to be a fantasy one.

>The Iron Curtain isn’t a fantasy land
Yeah, it's a border.

can't speak for anyone else but I decided to rewatch it for nostalgia a few months ago. Kinda surprised at how good it still is, honestly thought nostalgia was just blinding me but it holds up.

I remember destroying my dick thinking about she getting undressed in that scene... i want to be a kid again bros! Masturbation felt way better

No way fag

It's not that good. The animation is cheap and the action is lacking, the crests are fior the most part poorly implemented plot device, Tailmon's turn was rushed and awkward etc.
I like it because it was a children's cartoon that did try to not talk down to it's audience but then 02 ruins it. It's okay at best, Tamers is good, rest varying degrees of bad.

Still can't believe they aired that. They must have cut out a ton.

Doing that right now and experiencing the same. Was expecting a nostalgic giggle but it's actually really good. Little me had impeccable taste.
And the QUALITY just heightens the experience.

Gommamon is for cuddling and splashing in the pool.
If you want to molest him, wait until he's Zudamon.

Okay...

Why did they change Piyomon to Biyomon in English? Did it sound too much like pee?

What do you think of human Gatomon from the Xros Wars manga?

That was too much the other way, she looked kind of boring.

Looks like a teenage Angewomon.

A least Digimon has a fuckload of actually fuckable ones while Pokemon just has dumb animals that have body structure slightly resembling human females and a goddamn mammy.

I remember watching that as a kid. Then they got to the doppleganger episode and dropped it like a third nuke. Never saw the ending unti 10 years later.

>implying people only want to fuck the ones resembling human females
The most popular ones do include those, but also includes the various dog like ones, like eevee.

Fuck, even Renamon is hotter than dog-like Pokemon.
And I'm not a furry.

I think what we can derive from this is that OP is a retard and issekai type stories are nothing new.

I usually am not a fan of CG, but it worked on so many levels for digimon/appmon

Attached: QOUePzeh.jpg (800x900, 160K)

So you can isekai if you joint he CIA?

Palmon has a cute voice in Japanese. My childhood memories of their English voices are being rewritten by the Jap audio.

People give Appmon a lot of shit but there were a few nuggets of genuine goodness.
Globemon's debut is pretty hype

Strangely enough, Palmon's English dub voice is not really that different to the original.

I also like how the models have translucent wireframe and coding language decal like layer.

Maybe she listened to her and tried to imitate. I will give the English dub one thing, they use gruff voices for the larger Digimon but they still sound like little kids even in the higher evolutions in Japanese. Plus they use a voice filter that's kinda irritating.

Attached: [RyRo]_Digimon_Adventure_08_[91B92E7A].avi_snapshot_16.02_[2019.06.08_03.00.25].jpg (640x480, 119K)

I couldn't get into it at all. Too much catchphrase shit.

On the long list of good things about Adventure Palmon's cute voice is near the top.
I won't defend that. You definitely gotta be able to roll with the Dokan Pawnchis to make it through.

>You definitely gotta be able to roll with the Dokan Pawnchis to make it through.
Or NORERU NORENAI.

I dropped it after episode 10. Partly because
>inconsistent subgroup
and partly because I just didn't feel into it, which was a shame.

I have heard about how it ended though. Haru is a fucking despicable cunt.

No one will blame you for that.
It's a case of very cool ideas and concepts trapped in a mediocre show.
It's also very gay literally.

CHOU NORENE?

it's on my to-do list once I finish Kamen Rider Den-O (and probably another season of Precure or two.)

Also to anybody ITT, watch Our War Game. That's still a masterpiece. Even if you've already seen it, it can't hurt to watch it again.

Attached: 1560468357044.jpg (486x443, 239K)

Fuck off, Astra.

The fact that they didn't get Hosoda for what is supposed to be the last Adventure entry is a crime. Then again, it seems they still want to go with the fanfiction epilogue as canon so the major conflict of Kizuna is null an they're basically admitting to making a cashgrab.

>they're basically admitting to making another cashgrab.
Fixed.

No one is going to fall for that. Try harder.

This show is a trip revisiting after learning Japanese and getting all the pun names the Digimon have.

Lilithmon honestly.

I liked Eri too, user.

And now Leomon is perma dead.

I think the Japanese voice makes it much more clear that Togemon is supposed to be a joke character as well.

Never got that far into the show honestly. I'm rewatching Adventure 1 and 2 for nostalgia but I dropped season 3 back in the day and never looked back. Popped it on once just for shits when I was older and didn't like what I saw. There were a bunch of trains and an evil mirror Digimon.

Why did we never get a Angemon and Tailmon team up until Tri?

Well it is a cactus with boxing gloves.

That would be season 4

>Never got that far into the show honestly
Lilithmon doesn't show up, at least in any major capacity, until season 6. So you would have had a ways to go.

What's everyones problem with the epilogue?
I never got why so many people had problems with it.
It just seemed like a standard "and tgen everyone got married and children and lived happily ever after" ending.
Is it really just taiora and/or takari not being canon?
Other than that there are some silly shit like Yamato becoming, but it never striked me as something that pissed people off enough that they want to retcon it.

Attached: 4410.png (590x738, 423K)

V-Tamers

It's incredibly stupid on all fronts.

>kids are clones of their parents
>aforementioned shipping shit
>"everyone has a Digimon", assuming evil no longer exists in their world

Attached: le 02 epilogue face.webm (640x480, 2.93M)

The series is supposed to be about growing up and maturing but in the end they all live happily ever after with their digimon, they get these weird ass jobs that don't fit them at all and they're mostly really stupid important, and then they have kids that look exactly like them and are partnered with the same digimon as them. It's stupid and creatively bankrupt. There's also the fact that they only really bothered to develop two relationships that could be seen as romantic, both of them don't happen but instead they made literal crackships canon, one of them involving ntr.

Because they forget that she's an adult/champion level digimon.

>>kids are clones of their parents
That's happens in anime/manga where the protags end up having kids in general, it's also not as if they get their own show or anything.
Also I don't see why everyone getting a digimon and the 2 worlds living in harmony and being at peace with eachother with no threats like the dark masters or some shit like that is a bad thing.
I wouldn't call it an amazing ending or anything like that, but I honestly don't see why it offends so many people.

>before it was even a trend
There was an isekai manga trend in the late 80s and early 90s that spilled over into anime too.

>I don't see why everyone getting a digimon and the 2 worlds living in harmony and being at peace with eachother with no threats like the dark masters or some shit like that is a bad thing.
It's basically saying that evil no longer exists in any form in either world. It's just ridiculous.

They could just get different digimon instead of the same as their parents, you know...
Also, the new movie wants to provoke an emotional response from you when Agumon asks if they'll no longer hang out when he gets older. That is life, you grow up and you have less time to hang out with your friends, in the case of pets they die and you have to bury them. Anyway, the epilogue shows Taichi and Agumon being work buddies, you can't seriously try to sell me that idea when you've already told me how it ends.
It's how they for Tri they retconned Sora and Yamato dating at the end of 02 to force a moronic love triangle that never existed before the crackship was made canon, so they're intentionally putting fire on shipper war faggotry by making a love triangle when they already decided on the pairing.

>don't fit them at all
Which jobs didn't fit exceot for the really silly out there shit like Daisuke being a ramen billionaire and Yamato being an astronaut.
I guess there is Sora taking over her family's business, despite not really being into girly shit as a kid, but she kinda already started growing out of her tomboy phase.
Jou and koushiro becoming a doctor and tech guy respectively is in tune with the characters.
The rest really could have gone eitherway and no indication what they would in the future.

>It's basically saying that evil no longer exists in any form in either world. It's just ridiculous
You're reading way too much into it, it's just "they lived happily ever after" kind of thing.

The diplomat is dumb, especially in a world without evil. Also would fit the guy with the crest of friendship better.
Fashion designer Sora? Cook Mimi?

I wish I was as simple as you and took it just as that.

>Fashion designer Sora? Cook Mimi?
Both are hinted at in the show.

>Also, the new movie wants to provoke an emotional response from you when Agumon asks if they'll no longer hang out when he gets older. That is life, you grow up and you have less time to hang out with your friends, in the case of pets they die and you have to bury them. That's really more of an issue of the movies continuing a story that already ended, which is a fair complaint.
But people had problems with the ending way before the movies were a thing.
Also the kids are just a bunch of throway designs to show that everyone is an adult now and have kids.
Yes they could have been more creative with them, but ultimately it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things and nothing to really get mad enough about to want it to get retconned

>The diplomat is dumb, especially in a world without evil. Also would fit the guy with the crest of friendship better.
There is a difference between having someone that can smooth over the relationship between two different species and solve any conflict that might arise between the two and having pure evil doomsday demigods around that want to destroy the world.

>But people had problems with the ending way before the movies were a thing.
Which is why you can and should retcon the stupid ending.

>>Did Isekai better than anyone else before it was even a trend
That's not .hack//SIGN

It's a poorly developed and thought out idea and it's only purpose is to give the character an "important job".

Yeah, but I honestly don't get what the big problem with them was before that.

Rewatched it recently as well and I feel the same.

The animation was jarring and the battles are carried mostly by Brave Heart tho. What a fantastic song, in fact most of the soundtrack is great (Butterfly, Bolero, Concierto de Aranjuez).

The characters and themes are pretty deep and well done for a children's show and I'm surprised they managed 8 characters that well, a lot of other anime struggles with far less.

Taichi being a leader just because he is confident even though he isn't the smartest or wisest is also nice (and especially considering his fuck up against Etemon). Jyou struggling with that and his mediocrity, Kosuhiro's mini arc with him dealing with his adoption and becoming less autismal, Sora's tomboyness, Yamato's jealousy and TK growth and the great scene when their parents meet and you can see the huge tension between them just by looking by where they stand. All very impressive. Their growth was through focus episodes rather than being gradual like Tamers but it wasn't a luxury they could afford and it all turned out well since after 20 years they are still being shipped and argued.

The plot is well structured with four clearly defined arcs with ever-rising stakes and climaxes. Vamdemon's arc was the best, the Dark Master's had the most potential but suffered from being rushed.

The villains are relatively simple but well executed with the exception of Pinocchiomon who is pretty complex by being essentially a spoiled brat with a twisted morality. The fact that he appeared near the end when the kids had matured a lot and had a lot of scenes with TK who was the little kid who wanted to stop being one was also pretty kino as a foil, not sure if it was intentional.

I dunno if I would watch it today if I didn't have lingering nostalgia but it did surprise me very positively. Maybe if it wasn't so battle-heavy when the battles are so trash due to shit animation and only hold out thanks to the superb soundtrack and good characters.

Even if you didn't, the major problem is that they want to make more shit set in that universe. Like I said, you can't get me emotionally invested when I know Digimon is just a manchild dream of never growing up. And Epilogue has fanfiction tier writing, if you truly are doing a Digimon film for the true fans(that are around 30), maybe don't treat them like retards and give them such childish hack writing.

It's not all that strange that the guy who made the first contact of digimon as a kid and was pretty much the leader of the group of people that handled all digimon related matters for a good part of his life to make a living of off that.
And even then is it really bad enough for it to get needed to be retconned?

I think I just have a built-up tolerance for MOTW battles and kinda janky animation because of my current interests (precure, kamen rider) so even if I'm not enjoying the fight in a given episode I'm still on the lookout for other defining features of a show. Like you said Digimon stands out with how it develops its characters with pretty mature plotlines all things considered and has defined arcs.

How much trouble is trying to get into the game lore? Is it worth doing at all? I'm seeing a lot of titles and I don't speak any moon.

He was the leader because he could make tough decisions that others didn't want to make. The actual existence of an ambassador is pretty dumb, having Taichi be one is kinda silly. And again, growing up mean accepting that the world doesn't revolve around you, he can be a door to door salesman and it would be fine. Besides, like I've already said... the biggest problem comes from the fact that Agumon is his coworker so you know they'll never be apart for more than 5 minutes, which is a childish idea to implement on top of making the plot of the upcoming movie looks...really fucking stupid.

You haven't gotten to Xros Wars yet have you? It's okay but i'm happy seeing a lot of obscure Digimon getting an anime appearance.

Adventure Leomon is now perma dead. Killed by the claws of his waifu.

>the major problem is that they want to make more shit set in that universe.
Like I said that is a very valid complaint and I can 100% understand and agree with the fact that tri and last evolutions movies don't do it for you, because you already know how it is going to end.
Especially with the new movie acting like this is the last time Agumon and taichi will be together.
I just don't see why people had a problem with the epilogue even 10 years after the show ended.
It didn't seem all that fan fictionish to me since almost none of them married their childhood crushes/friends or had children at the exact same time like in Nardo or bleach.
They could have put more effort into making the kids unique, but in the end it doesn't matter in the grander scheme of things.

I will never forgive them underestimating the best Digimon the kids had under their command.

I don't think any of the modern ones are really tied together story-wise or anything (outside of Cyber Sleuth > Hackers Memory), could be wrong though. I know the older stuff (like, WonderSwan old) were their own sidestory thing but I never played those.

>I just don't see why people had a problem with the epilogue even 10 years after the show ended. It didn't seem all that fan fictionish to me since almost none of them married their childhood crushes/friends.
I think you had to be there. The dub doesn't help matters.

10 years after the show ends, the epilogue is what it is, it's easy to leave it as it is, you either accept it or reject it but it's there. If you want to make more, you should reject it because 1) you know it wasn't well received, 2) you want to make plots out of shit that doesn't work due to the epilogue
Marrying a childhood crush isn't the worst, you know, in happens in real life. If they really wanted to be mature they would have just had them all marry outside the group but instead they made two crackships canon and want to pretend like they have mature writing.

>Fashion designer Sora?
Why not? Just because someone is into sports doesn't mean they can't have feminine interest as well.

>Cook Mimi?
Mimi being a TV personality is fitting as she's the type who wants to have the attention directed towards her. Also she's the most successful next to Daisuke who is a fucking billionaire with a Raman empire.

Attached: 50、ぼくらのデジタルワールド.mkv_snapshot_20.28_[2019.08.14_19.06.12].jpg (1420x1080, 205K)

Those jobs would work better switched.

I didn't have cable TV until I was 9 yo, so i watched recently Digimonn 01 and was really boring. Besides nostalgia, what is the appeal?

>Ramen Empire
damn it user, I didn't need a new name for japan

Mimi would still be a TV personality though. I mean it's Mimi.

That it abandoned monster of the week episodic structure and handled mature themes very well is probably the biggest plus yes.

Sadly I can't look at it objectively so it's hard for me to say how it holds today for a neutral adult viewer. As a children's show it's excellent.

Anyone played the OG Digivice or Pendulum?
Shits fucking expensive right now lol.

I watched it live on tv when I was a kid too.
I had no idea so many people had such a big issue with untill many years later online.

Yes he could have been a door to door salesman, but I don't see why it is an issue for him to put his experience to use and get a job with it.
I mean 02 ended with the digital world and human world being pretty much connected with eachother on top of there being tobs of humans who live with digimon now.
That is bound to cause some issues or frictions so I don't see why it's dumb for having someone both digimon and humans can turn to whenever there is some major or minor frictions that coukd arise between the 2 species.
And I don't see why it is a problem for taichi one of the handfull of people who have tons of experience with dealing with digimon and digimon related conflicts to be that guy.
Like I said twice before now the new movie having this big drama between agumon and taichi staying together or not when the epilogue exists is a very valid complwint, but it desn't explain why so many people had an issue euth it before even tri came out.

They wouldn't.

Sora is a traditional fashion designer and following in the footsteps of her family's heritage. Mimi's culinary route is more than likely from her mother's bizarre ideas.

Attached: christmas 'cake'.jpg (628x458, 47K)

I told you the issue, it's silly. Digimon fans like to claim that the series deals with mature themes but the epilogue is the type of epilogue you get in children's fairytales.
Even your post in which you're filling up the blanks on how his job works only strengthens my point that it's a silly idea that they didn't develop, they just slapped it on so that the character would have an important job because they must have important jobs and be famous and super rich and everything.

The homosex is 10/10 tho. It took the ancient Digimon tradition of gay ships to the next level.

Holy fuck, you made remember this shit.

I'm all for a new Tamers season or movie or whatever but they need to treat with respect. The Tamers timeline had excellent closing unlike Adventure's.

I don't want Tamers 02 or Tri fucking everything up.

In Adventure, Sora grows up and understand her mother. In 02, her mother needed to understand her daughter, this character arc never comes and she controls her daughter's life. Another childish idea of growing up "parents are always right", they aren't, especially when they try to control you. And her mother wasn't a fashion designer, taking over the family business wouldn't have been so bad had they resolved the character arc with her mother understanding that her daughter has her own interests that she must accept and with time perhaps Sora could grow to appreciate the work her mom did and do it out of love, trying to carry the family business, instead of being forced to do it.

>I'm all for a new Tamers season or movie
No you aren't, you know damn well they would just make a shitty cheap cashgrab.

no need for that mate, the story closes perfectly, making a sequel would just shit on the finale

Sora is screwed over massively by 02 and is by far and away the worst treated of the 1999 children. We all know this.

>And her mother wasn't a fashion designer
I know that. She's a flower arranger.

Why is Mimi so perfect?

>Tamers 02
It would be shit and you know it.

>Digimon fans like to claim that the series deals with mature themes but the epilogue is the type of epilogue you get in children's fairytales.
So you can't have a happy endings if you deal with mature themes or atleast mature themes for kids shows standards?
>your post in which you're filling up the blanks on how his job works
That is not filling in the blanks that is what an ambassador does.
>The character would have an important job because they must have important jobs and be famous and super rich and everything
You say that, but kari is just a grade school teacher, yolei is housewife and Ken works for the police and Iori is a lawyer and Jou is a doctor.
So it is not as if everyone is famous or anything like that.
Also is it really that strange that there is a digimon ambassadornand that said ambassador is someone who has tons of experience when it comes to dealing with digimon?
The only really out there job is Daisuke becoming a millionare and Yamato becoming an astronaut, but Taichi becoming the go to guy when it comes to digimon related cases is not strange or out there at all.

I will always find Miyako being reduced to a baby factory hilarious

So you can't have a happy ending if you're not one of the most important humans? My point about the door to door salesman is you can be happy without ending up super dooper famous important person
>that is what an ambassador does.
You don't know what a digimon-human relations ambassador does because it doesn't exist
>yolei is housewife and Ken works for the police and Iori is a lawyer and Jou is a doctor.
Yolei is a blank bi polar character that gets no proper development. She marries Ken despite no chemistry between them except for one line of dialogue where it seems like she kind of likes him. Ken is a famous police officer, Jou maybe shouldn't have been a doctor...

plot?

>digimon-human relations ambassador does because it doesn't exist
No but an ambassador does exist so it isn't hard to put 2 and 2 together when it is mentioned that someone is a digimon ambassador.
You're just being obtuse now.
Also attacking Miyako's character or lack of character makes it different that she is famous or not.
Ken and Miyako hooking up is odd, but is that really something that you would be mad about and want retconned 10 years later?

>makes it different that she is famous or not.
*Does not make it not count that she isn't famous

Highschool Harem/Romcom. Takato self-insert MC. Barely any digimon.

I like Wargreymon's big sexy feet

>No but an ambassador does exist
It's a different thing, man. A different world, different rules, different ways of life. You can't just assume things are a certain way like that based on studying different kinds of people/species.
>Also attacking Miyako's character or lack of character makes it different that she is famous or not.
No, it just makes it all the more hilarious that the character with no development or much of a personality gets to be a boring housewife while everyone else is famous.
>Ken and Miyako hooking up is odd, but is that really something that you would be mad about and want retconned 10 years later?
You can't make a crackship canon and then claim you have mature writing. And like I said, there were only two pairing that actually had development and could've worked as couples, with Takeru and Hikari they actually went really hard, the angel thing, Daisuke getting jealous of their relationship and the fact that they would push it hard in promotional material and stuff, having them hold hands... it just feels like you're mocking the people that liked that pairing by not having it happen but making something nonsensical like Ken/Miyako happen. I don't think the pairing needs to be retconed necessarily, but at least develop their relationship instead of going "lol and they're married because lol"

I'm going to be a pedant and point out that the title is "Digimon Adventure." The second series title was literally "Zero Two;" it was not meant to be a sequel number that retroactively made the previous series "01."

I'm a stickler on this because I hate Zero Two and hate the idea of it retroactively making Adventure worse.

Konaka did pitch a Tamers sequel, but the studio turned it down.

>those Evangelion-referencing water droplet cutaways in 02
sincerest form of flattery I guess

Attached: Screen Shot 2019-08-14 at 7.20.24 PM.png (825x491, 221K)

>A different world, different rules, different ways of life.
That is why you have an ambassador to keep relations running smoothly despite shit you just mentioned.
>then claim you have mature writing.
To be fair no one claims that about 02 and miyako and Ken was odd, but like you said yourself nothing to get really get mad over or feel the need to retcon.
What I don't get is why so many people have such a big issue that they are still mad 10 years later.

>That is why you have an ambassador to keep relations running smoothly despite shit you just mentioned.
Worked well so far without such a thing...
>To be fair no one claims that about 02
02 is a direct continuation of Adventure and directly influences it.
And it's not so much "mad" as it's calling out bad writing in a franchise that could be far more popular than it is.

>Worked well so far without such a thing...
Because the worlds were completely seperared before that.

Could've kept them like that...

So plane crashes have the same power as truck-kun's?

cmon user, you can do better than that

Fox Kids cut out every slow scene, which basically made it impossible to follow the plot. The commercials for breakfast cereal every five minutes didn't help.

Yeah he was a fucking shitty tie-in character for those videogame but at least he didn't stick around for the whole show. Also fucked off at the end after doing his one thing in the finale. Thank fuck.

I think Konaka wanted one of the Adventure kids to fill a role of mentor/guide in the Digital World and to establish a loose connection between the seasons. Would have been cool.

In the end Hunters sort of stole the idea and had that huge fight with all the seasons combined.

To this day I still don't understand Meicoomon's role on tri.

AIDScat dies without a doubt.

To be the cute "wobbie".

If Palmon is a plant and is a person then they must exclusively cook meat on the show. WHAT NOW VEGANS!?

That was the shit that made me drop the show. Tried to be way too edgy and dark compared to the beautiful painted background of Adventure.
Plus Adult Swim first started around that time and once I found the "adult" anime Digimon just didn't cut it anymore.

Because she's fun and bubbly. Not a bunch of emotional baggage like Sora.

That was Angewomon for me. I didn't really understand what was going on in my pants so I always just had fantasies about her hugging me.

you've never seen a japanese interview about anime? the fuckers say and ask the weirdes shit.
i remember a jojo interview that an idol was conductin, and she said, how she always wanted to be impregnated by jotaro, she wanted jotaro to call her a bitch and spit on her( yeah i know, hot isn't it?) but weird shit like that all the time, look up a couple of anime interviews they're the best.

i saw the whole thing, it LOOKED great, and personally only watched with my gf every week just to make fun of how gay the mc is and how the red hair robot should've been the MC.

>The fact that they didn't get Hosoda for what is supposed to be the last Adventure entry is a crime.
trips confirm that the police need to pay a visit to Tri

Tamers should have a prequel going back to the 80s when the adult characters were younger and the creation period of digimon.

To make erotic sounds as she yelled out in pain, and Dom all the other digimon.

To think the Tri blood money went to Applimon.

Why is there no support-themed Isekai?Every time it's a DPS/Tank themed ability, or just something so ridiculous that it can do anything and everything. As a dedicated healslut, I'd kind of want to see a story based on an MC who sets out on a quest to grant a bunch of incompetent, semi-retarded fighters (all cute girls of course) a victory that they do not deserve through his dedicated and loving OP healing and buffing skills.

Isakai killed the phase of princess carry mc-kun shows. To Love Ru, Witch Craft Works, Rosiro Vampire, Early half of Strongest disciple. Majority of people want to be the main character not some bystander randy that is watching events unfold and sometimes is useful.

The simultaneously best/worst Mimi.

Was there even an English ED or did they just shrink the credits down and bombard you with ads?

Escaflowne is shit

Harry Potter is a Isekai the fucking level of this retard is insane

The story is a bit lacking and the romance is pretty terrible but it looks amazing.

The rival and rivalry in Escaflown was garbage, the heroine was trash and the hero was an unlikable MC. Only good thing about that series were the mecha, the music and the first "mini-boss" villain that the hero faced off against. Normally that first haughty enemy is just killed and defeated after the first 4 episodes or so, but this psycho guy actually became "best boi" and stole the whole show. The reveal was also good even though it left viewers angry that when the anime ended that there ws no real epilogue for that character. I mean people wanted to see how the fuck things would transpire afterwards. The psycho was after all shown to be a crazy fire loved even before that whole changing of fates thing... meaning that the psycho part was actually their real personality.

Then they did a movie. The movie tried to cash in on enmity between the MC and the psycho, making the movie just loosely based on the series with only expy characters that happened to have the same names. The psycho however was completely ruined and everything that was so great and interesting about them was changed. The movie was crap.

Wasn't that the same episode where she gained her crest? Spent the whole time being a spoiled brat, and sent her friends to a fucking dungeon just because she wanted to be pampered and have more baths. Played the digimon like a fiddle pretending that she would sing and wakeup their boss. Eventually does it before a revolt kills her. Boss tries to kill her anyway. Joe saves her, and her crest activates because of her serenity/purity? They described why it activated weird as well, because I don't think they really knew why it activated other than she's a "good" person. I think the intention was that her being saved while dressed like a princess, among other things made her fit the role of purity.

God damn those crests were such a stretch at times.

Attached: 1510462761598.png (627x473, 488K)

Issekai isn't about being trapped in a videogame though.... and Digimon is pure garbage. It didn't do issekai good at all. It felt like a shitty ripoff and mix of pokemon and Yugi-oh.

While most issekei are bad since slice of life world building doesn't translate well from novel into anime or even manga.

Also, Digimon was furry shit.

No. Mimi doesn't activate her crest until episode 35. She DOES activate it at that stage in the novelisation.

It doesn't activate there, MetalGreymon kills the frog king. It activates in the real world because she cries when she sees people get hurt. Worst first crest activation was Yamato.

>Worst first crest activation was Yamato.
Was that try and murder his friends, then tries to save his brother which activates it.

Attached: Kinkakumon.jpg (320x320, 87K)

Lord have mercy that Ladydevimon.

Yamato's activates at the Digitamamon restaurant if I remember correctly.

It's at the restaurant where he gets frustrated with Jou so he says he doesn't want to travel with him anymore, shortly after that Takeru gets caught and Jou saves him and the self centered jerk couldn't just see Jou as trying to save Takeru, he interprets it as Jou saving Yamato's brother because Joue and Yamato are friends.

Yeah I may need to rewatch, it's been over 15 years since I last watched any of these and I've seem to have mixed more of the plots up than I remember. I pretty much dropped off from the series outside of the games after the 4th season.

Attached: 1529117028483.gif (772x437, 3.18M)

Savers is good.

it's not.

How is it not?

Acting so sluttily should make everyone hate her. But they (largely) don't. How unusual.

I'm still mad

Attached: 1565458123996.jpg (930x2993, 196K)

Sora's a pain in the ass. It hurts at first but she did him a favor.

Times like this is when I wished I had a twitter account to beg them to change this...

How does tri handle the Tai cucking? Or has that not happened yet chronologically?
also
>omg he's in a band
what a thot

Except she didn't marry her brother neither.

They retcon out Sora and Yamato dating at the end of 02 and have the three of them hanging out together a lot. There are hints that the epilogue is still canon however. Basically, for the duration of their first two seasons they didn't have shipper wars so they decided to cash in on that with their latest cashgrab instead of, y'know, developing the nonsensical random pairing that went with.

This. Sora is not just dull but also an emotional wreck.

how was hard ntr allowed in a childrens show?

02 Sora sucks because she got character assasinated, Adventure Sora is great and one of the better characters.

This. Harry potter is worse than Isekai.
It's that western meme of "Hidden magical world that's always been there, and we have a whole checklist of why every single fucking legend from the human world is actually just a misunderstood sighting of our shit"

Late 00s had dozens of these shows on Syfy alone.

Good lesson for kids I'd say. It's a hard fact of life that just about everyone goes through at some point. Of course a more positive message would be for Tai to move on an find someone who does love him. Then when Sora is inevitably still unhappy and gets jealous of Tai and his gf's happiness she tries to ruin their relationship by throwing her body at him and he gets the satisfaction of telling her to fuck off then she accuses him of rape and Matt steps in to help Tai by testifying in court that she is mentally unstable and she gets a light sentence despite Tai possibly facing serious prison time but she hangs herself anyway.

I hear there was an idea floating around to make Yamato a villain in 02 and when the showrunner heard he flipped out which is why Yamato gets to be the "coolest" in 02.

I still don't get why she was ruined in 02.

At least nobody was as big of a retard as Daisuke with his ramen cart.

There isn't much discussion about Adventure 02. Did most people find the main cast forgettable other than Hikari and Takeru?

Yes, they genuinly get no development

Chadsuke was such a well rounded character he didn't need any development.
You can't improve the perfection that is flavortown after all.

When that 2000s fashion comes back he'll be the one having the last laugh. He needs some frosted tips though.

Daisuke is a moron, Miyako is a nasty piece of work and Iori is a non-entity.

Ironically his depictions outside of 02 are handled far better.

I'd still fug Miyako ngl

Hi Ken

Cute couple. Crazy fangirl got what she wanted.

This is one of my favorites

No doubt Mimi had some part to play in it.

Go back to bed Takeru.

I have to rewatch this

HEY DIGIMON HEY DIGIMON

MONSTER FRIENDS TO THE BOYS AND GIRLS

thanks
in my collection she goes

They utterly failed to make the new kids compelling characters. Part of this was probably the idiotic early format where adventuring became an after-school activity. The Adventure kids were compelling to watch because they were thrust into an alien situation with no idea what to do and had to fight hard to survive. The Zero Two kids are hardly any different from an after-school soccer club or chess club.

Takeru and Hikari don’t get a pass either. If anything, the fact that they had momentum going from the Adventure days just makes it all the more disappointing that their characterization never took off either. Takeru especially; being the longest holdover meant he could have had the most interesting and compelling character arcs across the whole thing.

Shield Hero came so close to this.

Black Healer is about a healer, obviously.
Though it's not like what described, it leans a little more into shoujo clichés.

>Part of this was probably the idiotic early format where adventuring became an after-school activity. Yeah, that was immensely stupid. Like you've said, it removes any tension from it when they can just jump in and out whenever.

So what's the significance between the recurring nipple laser/missile phenomenon in Digimon, anyway?

>Part of this was probably the idiotic early format where adventuring became an after-school activity. I don't think this is a problem, they needed a new format instead if rehashing shit. Problem is that they just didn't do anything with the characters, their families, their struggles. Hikari and Takeru are not as bad as the rest but obviously not very good. Adventure kids aren't properly integrated as mentors either, Taichi and Koushiro do a decentish job of mentoring, Sora appears enough but her character arc has set up but no proper resolution and her legacy is being turned into shipper fodder, Jo and Mimi don't even appear enough and Yamato is in his 2cool4school phase so even though he appears enough he just feels very distant to the others similar to Jo and Mimi except they have the excuse of simply not being featured enough.
02 felt far more interested in showing off cool transformations than, the fusions were really stupid.

Japan has a nipple fetish.

>Problem is that they just didn't do anything with the characters, their families, their struggles.
Which considering how integral family was in Adventure is telling.

>Sora appears enough but her character arc has set up but no proper resolution and her legacy is being turned into shipper fodder, Jo and Mimi don't even appear enough
Mimi did more in her few appearances than Joe or Sora did combined and she was living on the other side of the globe.

Yeah, but I was talking about their characterizations and about having character arcs. None of the Adventure cast have that, and while with Mimi and Jo it's somewhat excusable because they don't have enough screen time, Sora actually gets setup but no follow through. Rest are just "happy to be here".

Ah sorry. Yeah, I get you know.

Sora in Zero Two is practically a different character to the one in Adventure, it's that much of a change.

>the fusions were really stupid.
Jogress was tight or atleast paildramon was cool.
Not sure why takeru and Hikari needed a jogress partner since they can go perfect on their own, that was stupid.
youtube.com/watch?v=eCjH7YnJksA

Why didn't they get Hosoda anyway?

And why don't they just make a statement on twitter or the official website that the future is unknown or something? Even if they follow the epilogue and don't retcon anything it would still be nice to let the fans immerse themselves in the story instead of admitting they're making this for the brainless fanboys that would eat up anything as long as it had nostalgia topping.

The pairings didn't make sense.

>Gogglehead and rival
>"the girls"
>"the other two"

Why is Our War Game so good bros

Attached: 1528038275084.jpg (1920x1080, 252K)

They even remade it without Digimon and it was still good.

It could have worked in theory if they’d 1) developed the characterization properly around it and 2) didn’t develop the pairings at the expense of other pairing relationships.

Adventure did it smart by mixing up the pairing team-ups. There was never one designated pairing per character, multiple episodes switched things up. You’d get a Koushiro-Mimi episode one time, then a Koushiro-Sora episode another, and Koushiro-Taichi scenes in the background across multiple episodes, etc.

For Zero Two, taking Takeru-Iori as an example, the Jogress relationship could actually have worked if they’d done the obvious development arc of Takeru growing from Adventure’s “team’s youngest little brother” into “older mentor for the new team’s youngest,” and then still made room for other interesting pairing developments: Takeru-Hikari obviously, but the biggest missed opportunity was probably Takeru-Ken. Zero Two had some pretty great isolated scenes like Takeru punching out evil Ken and Takeru giving up his seat for Ken; now imagine if it were an actually running story arc of the two discovering how similar their backgrounds are while going from enemies to rivals to friends.

Support is all about carrying your team to victory. I started off class-based stuff with the TF2 medic. In TF2, having a healer when the other team doesn't pretty much guarantees a victory assuming your team has at least half a brain. Having the team live and die at your whim is pretty fun too. Basically, imagine a story where a bunch of girls go on an adventure they're absolutely not equipped to handle, and and the MC stumbles upon them right as they're about to be slaughtered. The MC then tags along and baby-sits them to make sure they all stay alive and well.

>now imagine if it were an actually running story arc of the two discovering how similar their backgrounds are while going from enemies to rivals to friends.
Would have been much better than the Daisuke/Ken one-way homo shit.

Yeah for the most part in Adventure everyone seems to interact more. The 02 kids... Miyako and Iori get nothing, Daisuke is just loud and lusts over Hikari and gets jealous of Takeru...

Miyako gets an inconsistent personality. Iori I've always felt was an afterthought.

Attached: Hida_Iori[1].jpg (80x244, 5K)

I've played a healer in WOW years ago. Never really had fun with it, but being a heal slut is the fastest way to make gold in most games that you can share to your main characters. Life of heal sluts are feast or famine. If the mission succeeds then heal sluts and tanks tend to get most of the rewards. If it fails then it's almost always 100% blame goes to the heal slut rather than the party as a whole being shit.

>Digimon Hitler-sama you have the crest of kindness!
The writers defended this character so fucking hard it was sickening. Every time he'd hop back onto his emo train and say how he isn't worthy of redemption, and everyone would stroke him off telling him how great he is. I would be talking to my TV being like No hey's a fucking horrible human who enslaved, tortured, and murdered digimon. It's okay you can't kill digimon they just get reborn because muh just data ha ha. Though death is still treated like a real issue even though we kind of subverted the loss to pretty much being sent back a few spaces.

Attached: 3433802cc7dd71c038f0aeabfe1c79ae.jpg (629x351, 21K)

Is it really surprising after Yamato got the crest of friendship in Adventure?

It's funny how the first one of the kids to reach out to him after his "rebirth" is the other Chosen who enslaved and tortured Digimon.

Attached: princess karaoke.jpg (500x698, 240K)

The whole point of the crests was that the kids were supposed to "rediscover" the good parts of themselves that had been lost or grown weak. Yamato's arc was supposed to be rediscovering friendship, though admittedly it was one of the less well executed arcs, especially with the dumb last-minute fight and rivalry with Taichi. (Dark Masters was probably when the first cracks of losing cohesion started.)

Ideally Ken's arc would have been similar, but never really happened.

>the crest of kindness
Makes me despair.

The only two well done crests were Taichi and Sora. Koushiro was kinda decent but "knowledge" is just ... not an emotion. Maybe tranquility would've been better as he learns to calm down and find inner peace, his chacretr arc was very well done jsut the crest was kind of last minute tackled on. Sincerity and Purity feel like the same thing.
Yamato was just a bad fir for friendship, he only cared about his brother, he was self centered and let's not even get into his homicidal ways.

I don't see where it was stated the crests had to be emotions.

It just works better when it's an emotion.

I never liked the message of Digimon in having to always forgive your friends no matter what they do. Because "if you don't forgive your friends then you'll end up alone". That is a horrible message; that you should just settle into a relationship because it's objectively better than being alone. This show thinks that you should forgive people who tried to murder you, or if she go into even the most tame thing of what was going on. Tried to have you mauled by their dog, and tried to kill your pet while they were at it. I also hated how a lot of the time people would yell at Taichi to knock it off, "why are you two always like this". When it was always Yamato trying to sucker punch him with attacks from out of nowhere.

Attached: 1529113069784.jpg (640x480, 47K)

Except they had Light and Hope be two separate things. Also Kari having light and she suffers from depression.

Attached: 1561266920983.png (720x2452, 866K)

it's nice for some shows to have messages to be like saints

Not isekai, since the digital world is part of our world and is not connected via literally other dimension or dimensions.

A lot of the messages they tried were half assed or childishly done.

And thus the generation growing up with digimon grew into a generation of the most two faced toxic ongoing relationships ever seen. Though a lot of that could be due to social media and everyone puts their laundry out for the public to see today.

>show for little kids has childish messages
huh

>And thus the generation growing up with digimon grew into a generation of the most two faced toxic ongoing relationships ever seen.
Don't be fucking stupid.

how the fuck are you blaming digimon nigger
these people need to have watched more digimon if anything
>all the sitcoms and music videos about sleeping around and experimenting are fine
>but FORGIVING YOUR FRIENDS? that's just evil propaganda

The thing ended with the message that your pets will never die so you don't ever have to grow up.
The fans like to pretend that it's a children's cartoon with writing that's slightly more mature than other regular children cartoons.

>you tried to kill me and my pet/friend but we're still best friends and nothing can change that
>you may have created labor camps, enslaved the majority of the digital world that even Devimon a literal embodiment of the devil couldn't accomplish, tried to murder us and kicked the shit out of your digimon, but you're the kindest person we know

I think it says a lot about this series.

Attached: 1527340229190.jpg (1109x1553, 1.29M)

I don't really get his point either but
>>but FORGIVING YOUR FRIENDS? that's just evil propaganda
The concept of consequences should be thought to kids.

Because forgiving your friends should have limits. When you keep going back and forgiving it's just a battered wife syndrome. You keep going back and allowing the toxic relationships to get worse, and nobody learns anything.

Blaming Digimon as the main cause of that is utterly moronic though.

if you look around you'll see a lot more people totally flippant with relationships than sticking with people and 99% of this toxic shit is either dating obviously shitty people or is just an excuse to get out of relationships

I'm not, I just feel that it's a horrible message to teach unconditional forgiveness in that context.

tk took her virginity.

>dating obviously shitty people
Holy shit I just realized the only ones to marry are the two obviously shitty ones while everyone else turns into incels and make test tube babies. Based Digimon.

Sorry, was meaning it in response to the guy above.

>while everyone else turns into incels and make test tube babies.
Fuck off with that /pol/-tier shit.

/pol/?

You've had your fun but I'm the true king

Can humans get digimon pregnant

Attached: 1533823972528.jpg (422x719, 151K)

Nah, Taichi, Willis and Daisuke tripled teamed that. Takeru had to watch

Subs.
The dubs remove some subtlety.
For example in the 13rd episode the Hypno captured a DarkLizardmon:
In the original japanese version that DarkLizardmon threatened them that his gods will avenge him. (this mean that Digimon had evolved to the point that they developed culture/religion)

In the dubs DarkLizardmon is just a retarded digimon who want a Tamers ("Please make me stronger")

I strongly doubt any of the Chosen were involuntarily celibate.

Just calling it as I see it.

Hitomi was supposed to be inexcusable. She is the reason everything is going to shit: her desire to live an otome fantasy at the center of existing relationships that she has forced herself into. Every coincidence is by her will, for her benefit at the expense of everyone else.

She even drives people insane.

It's eva but for otome game players.

The movie was passable dark fantasy mecha for its runtime.

1. WTF is wrong with you?
2. That's a good question
3. user get your hand off your willy

Well you're seeing it through the eyes of a fucking imbecile.

I'm just reiterating what we are shown.

Should have been their story arcs. Zero Two should featured Takeru getting beaten and abused depressingly hard and trying to hide it behind a smile, but eventually growing into a genuine ‘never lose hope’ attitude. Not sure how Hikari’s could have gone, but the depression thing definitely had potential.

Would have loved to have seen a scene featuring a depressed Hikari asking a beaten to bloody pulp Takeru “how can you keep smiling like that?” With Takeru replying “How am I supposed to look? I don’t know anymore.”

I think Taichi and Kari would have worked well with a broken home abuse backstory more. Would have fit well with Taichi's courage to be strong for Kari, and Kari's underlying depression.

Does she really go to school since she's wearing a uniform. Since she's a delinquent does she skip going to school. Is there just an empty school that only serves as grounds for there being uniform wearing delinquents that don't go to it. Would they make good mothers?

Attached: 1531557707110.jpg (800x1103, 443K)

The pilot kinda shows that, their father is an alcoholic and Taichi has to cook and feed his little sister despite his age implying their mother is almost never around either.
They went with a more childish tone for the series.

Missed opportunity for exploring a parallelism between Taichi-Hikari and Yamato-Takeru.

The Taichi-Yamato relationship got a lot of screen time, but felt oddly shallow.

That was due to Hikari not entering the show until the last arc. I wonder why they didn't have the eight from the start?

Our War Game is way better than Summer Wars though

I liked how in the original version of this, the voice actress for Mimi is also the singer the ED song so she was basically singing the ED for the frog guys

And yet he's still the best character in 02

It's cause he has a character and an arc. It's not great but it's more than everyone else.

Only good things about 02

-Ken
-Armor Evolutions
-The OST

Ken isn't actually good, just better than the rest.

Isn't he just a Gary Stu.
>genius smarter than the smartest member of the team
>athletic able to beat the most athletic member of the team
>Girls all think he's hot
>has probably the strongest digimon on par with Angemon and Angewomon

He won the little-contested Miyakobowl

Maybe if you dropped the show early on.

Who were the participants in that? Ken and...?

10 year old user

Maybe if you had no taste.

I would have put Mimi in considering Miyako is a nerd, but that was always one-way.

Attached: yolei's unrealistic lesbian romance.webm (640x480, 2.09M)

Ken wasn't a participant either.

They never even bothered hinting at it after the Emperor arc, did they. Fucking shipping shit.

Yeah, it's a crackship, same with the other one. I find it hilarious Digimon fans claim their franchise features "more mature writing" and shit when it's the only franchise I know that made crackships canon. Tamers is the saving grace.

I'm pretty sure there's only one instance of Miyako ever hinting at liking Ken and it's... very small.

That's what I meant. Arguably it's even worse than the other crackship.

If they HAD to go and do shipping shit at the end, at least choose one barely anyone would have been upset by. Like this.

Attached: DMuZI0wUMAEfVBx.jpg (1618x1121, 213K)

Monster Rancher was pretty up there too!

It's not worse because at least 02 sucked and Miyako. The other two were featured in Adventure and that was pretty good in terms of characterization and yet they still barely interacted. There's also the ntr element and the fact that they only ever developed two relationships that could be considered romantic throughout the two series.

Yeah, fair enough. I was saying it worse in terms of zero buildup in comparison, but both were horrendous.

Both have zero build up, difference is Sora had build up with a different character and Sora had better chemistry with other characters like Jou and Koushiro.

Imagine if Zero Two had been overseen by someone competent. Failing that, imagine it never existing.

>imagine it never existing
I would hope anyone that likes Adventure does.

>Digimon Adventure
>Digimon Adventure (series)
>Our War Game

It could have been perfect. And then look what happened.

real world lesson, interviews questions and answers are planned ahead 90% of the time

I think Mimi has the most character songs out of them all.

>that Agumon

>"I can't save the world, i need to study"
>Everyone is ok with it and actually let him study
>Still acts like an asshole to Gomamon

Why did tri make him such an asshole?

I'm pretty sure this show awakened my interest in the occult, which is funny, since I never saw moral guardians in the late 90s/early 2000s call Digimon Satanic

Attached: da766e86b26331656a846aa252b93cbc.jpg (570x881, 66K)

Because Tri is pure garbage. I see a lot of people saying this or that is raping my childhood when talking about remakes and shit but Digimon Tri raped my childhood.

I never noticed this before but 5 of the 7 characters are wearing really ugly, bulky gloves. Did some of the animators not know how to draw hands?

>Did some of the animators not know how to draw hands?
Character designer, not the animator. And he couldn't draw feet either.

Attached: sora concept art.jpg (640x463, 52K)

Attached: mimi concept art.jpg (776x636, 68K)

A "grown up" Digimon that builds on the concepts of the good seasons while cutting out the kids show formular could be the best show ever made. I usually hate to speak about "potential", but Digimon somehow pressed so much good stuff into a tired kids show formular that i want to see how far it could go without limitations.

That's just tri again, so sadly highly possible

>implying Meicrackmon isn't sexy

Watched it with a friend and at some point anger turned into making fun of how bad it could get.
I remember thinking movie 4 would finally start to get better because they teased the Digiworld, fucking lost it when the first thign they do there was a Picknick for like 20 minutes screentime, followed by Sora gettign sexual harrased.

It didn't feel like my Childhood getting raped after that, more like watching a Fanfic parody, far removed from the show i like.

I thought he made a very point though.
He and the gang have been dealing with world ending shit atleast every 2 years since they they were 10-13
He made a very good by point by wondering how much longer they have to deal with these apocalyptic threads just, because they randomly looked of window once when they were literal babies or toddlers.
I can see someone getting tired of that shit after a good 6 to 8 years of it, especially when he is in the middle of a crucial point where he decides how his life will go.
Like even seeing gomamon is always an omen that shit is coming down again, because he only seems him when they have to deal with some bullshit again.

Attached: Discomfort.png (197x412, 89K)

>I wonder why they didn't have the eight from the start?
I get the impression that they were taking inspiration from Super Sentai on that front considering the Sixth Ranger concept was established (if not locked in stone entirely) by '99. Worth noting that both Heisei-era Kamen Rider and Precure also pretty much always have a midseason addition to the teams as well. As for why those three shows do it, I mean it creates a few new toys to sell during the last two quarters after all.

Huh, good thought.

I mean it's an interestign idea for a character, they never really talked about the burden to be a chosen one and all that before.
Too bad tri is shit and can't do good things.
Joe is kinda cowardly but feels responsible for people in need, now he apparently forgot that, it's not even that he's afraid, he just has something better to do so he stops doing the Digimon stuff immediately, even though his friends are in danger.

The whole burden thing makes him look like a big asshole because there is no struggle, he decides it's inconvenient and stops right there.

Also it's not like they are constantly fighting either, he didn't see Gomamon for some years and get's pissed of there really is no build up either, last time in 02 he was fine with everyting.

It just feels like a totally different character, that nervous guy that still wanted to help now shits on everyone for egoistic reasons, of course this was just so he could learn the same things at the end of the movie he already knew in adventures.
They just bullshited conflict into his character for a desired outcome in the end, even though it doesn't work at all.

Reboot fucking when!?

>They just bullshited conflict into his character for a desired outcome in the end, even though it doesn't work at all.
Mimi's development was very similar in that regard, especially with the school festival maid cafe nonsense.

>Mimi suggests everyone dresses up like Hooters waitresses
>the idea stuns the student council to the point nobody else can put forward an idea
>this is interpreted by two girls as Mimi forcing her idea on everyone with no argument despite that clearly not being the case

It was just so contrived and illogical. It also turned out to be completely pointless when one of those girls actually liked the idea afterwards, meaning there was no need for the entire conflict in the first place!

tri. overall just isn't good. I'm genuinely amazed there are people out there who actually consider it to be worthwhile. I dropped it after the fifth movie because I'd seen the spoilers for the sixth and was so nonplussed about it all I didn't see the point in finishing it.

Digimon Survive looks fucking amazing
m.youtube.com/watch?v=J3oNZ14pmKI

I mean it seems it have a legit school kids survival story with real death and shit.
