I just got back from watching Millennium Actress. This movie was 10/10 kino. Why don't they make anime like this anymore?

Well, he's dead, for one.
But user they make anime movies every year, surely you're not watching tv series expecting film?
I wish they'd stop showing movies in American theaters, every time it just brings a flood of posts from retarded newfags watching some well-known movie for the first time and calling it the best thing ever.
director literally died, thats why
No, most anime films they make are mediocre with animation and production that can be called "good"

your post is 10 years too late, just be glad some user is finally watching a great movie
This is the third or fourth thread I've seen about it today, and the last one's OP said pretty much the exact same thing as this one complete with dumb buzzwords.
I can't believe it's 9 years since, what the fuck. I haven't changed at all since then.
But you did watch Penguin Highway and buy the Bluray, right?
>only seeing anime movie Millenium actress now
>then complain about TV anime
LOL fuck off to Yea Forums you pleb EOP shit.
I watched this today. There weren’t that many autistic people obnoxiously giggling at inappropriate parts like most other anime films. Only like a couple.
Kon is dead and Madhouse is shit.
You should listen to Hirasawa more youtube.com
watch more anime
fpbp
I've seen it before. And all good other films. Outside of Kaguya-hime no Mononoke, Mimi no na wa and Wolf children, anime films have been lacklustre
>Inb4 A silent voice or anthem of the heart
Weathering With You coming soon.
>nausicaa, only yesterday, porco rosso, whisper of the heart
>lackluster
kys
Cause the guy who made it died and no one did what he was doing.
Nah mang they're garbage
Anime was a mistake
I don't know why Yea Forums rates Perfect Blue more than Millennium Actress. I find the latter to be better. I guess the acted rape scene really makes Yea Forums's peepee hard
10/10 post
Tokyo Godfathers is Satoshi Kon's best film.
Saw this tonight too. I hadn't seen it yet as it seemed to be less well-regarded than Kon's other movies. It was fitting to watch it for the first time in a movie theater, considering the subject. Totally worth it.
I've seen a bunch of anime films in the theater recently and I'm almost always surprised by the turnout. I expected more people to show up for this considering how heavily it was flogged on various sites and how generally respected Kon is. On the other hand the showing of Mirai I went to in December was packed even though I didn't think Hosoda had that much draw.
Where in the world did they show this in a theater? Unless your rich and its in your house than never-mind.
There have been a few companies in the US that have started making single-night showings of different anime films in the theater a thing. They're probably able to do it more easily these days because theater attendance in general is down so getting a film shown on a smaller screen on a weeknight is probably not that expensive. I'm not in any special area of the country.
In the past 2 years I've seen:
Fate/Stay Night Heaven's Feel I & II
Tanya the Evil - The Movie
Mirai
Mary and the Witch's Flower
Made in Abyss: Journey's Dawn
A Silent Voice
A handful of Ghibli films, they run one every 2 months or so.
Promare is coming next month, I'll probably see it because why the hell not.
Didn't know that theaters showed old movies in theaters recently that's neat. I knew about newer ones being aired/shown. On a somewhat related note Madoka movie in theaters somewhere in bumfuck upstate NY and man was that an experience.
GIVE HIM BACK KAMISAMA. His death was a bigger loss than the whole kyoani incident.
>Why don't they make anime like this anymore?
What, you don't like Makoto Shinkai-like flick #52?
>unironically liking Wolf Children
the stink of the pleb
the new remaster looks way better than the Japanese blu-ray, but the new subtitles had some typos and in general had some bad translation differences. Regardless I hope they release this on blu-ray because I'm kicking myself for not staying for the commentary
>be me
>amerimutt
>carless neet
>have to drive out of state to nearest theater that screens anime
I watched the movie before but I'm glad I got to experience it in a theater. For some reason it didn't leave that much of an impression on me when I first saw it, but it really might be Kon's best film.
>Kaguya-hime no Mononoke
In your effort to be a fucking faggot weeb you got the name wrong, congratulations.
