Act 2 is one of, maybe the best stand in Part 4. It's so cool, so creative, can be used in a huge number of ways without really being OP, kind of like Stone Free can. When it was introduced my head was spinning thinking of all the amazing 1000 IQ ways it could be used.
Then it gets fucking dumped for Act 3 and basically never seen again, and all Act 3 does is make shit heavier.
What the fuck! Act 2 could probably do the same thing anyway by writing "Squash" or "Press" on whatever Koichi wanted to weight down. It's SUCH a downgrade, and has nothing to do with the "sound" motif either.

The way Echoes first describes his ability, something like, "I just changed the 'three' to 'freeze' and that happened" made it sound like it could change sound effects into other sound effects to get the same results as Act 2, but more versatile. But all it ever does is make things heavy after that.

So why do people say King Crimson (and by extension, GER) is outside of spacetime? I'm having trouble understanding how the stand works.

Like suppose pic related happened; Diavolo somehow appears above a pit of spikes and is falling, purple marks the point when King Crimson's ability - Time Erase - activates. Would activating Time Erase allow him to phase through the spikes, as it's shown in the anime/manga that the world disappears, or will Diavolo fall on the spikes and die, regardless if he activates Time Erase? If it's the latter, then I see no reason why KC or GER are above/outside of Spacetime.

I really love Phantom Blood and it's music and it's a shame they didn't use the tracks from the Future album more often, because they had some really great, more action themes. Everything in Part 1 is about Jonathan and Dio's struggle and the score really captures that, and I think Phantom Blood has overall the best music for drama and tragedy, which is all but fitting.

Battle Tendency's soundtrack is full of bangers left and right that people love for a reason but the vocals fucking butcher a lot of the songs that would be better off without them, and rewatching it now it's really apparent that most of these tracks weren't made with the scenes of Battle Tendency in question, which at times sticks out pretty badly. But that's the worst I can say, it's really awesome as is the rest of the presentation.

I give Stardust the lowest rating because a lot of the songs are really, really samey, and even when I revisit the Part 3 score I keep thinking of better tracks they used in other parts. I don't dislike it or think it's mediocre by any means but it's my least favorite. The comedy songs and the ones specific to certain characters (like Mariah, Death 13 or the Darby brothers) are on point and they should have done more of those.

Part 4's OST is really versatile, they did single tracks for nearly every character as well as some odd ones here and there that work because of Part 4's constant tone shifts. I never get bored of listening to Part 4's albums even if they are associated with parts of it I tend to like less.

I'm giving Part 5 the highest rating purely because of the Finale album that dropped today. Before I would have put it maybe on par with 2 but I'm adoring each and every single song of this one. I think they really nailed how to depict the story through the songs in a way they haven't done before. You can picture much better the events and characters of Part 5 in the albums than you can in other parts.

I cannot fucking believe the soul sun behind everyone's head. That was peak stupid.

I always liked to think that if DIO and Diavolo used their powers at the same time, it'd just cancel out, or cause something weird and bad to happen (both suddenly skipping ahead, wounded with no memory how it happened in the frozen time skip). They'd have to ambush one another.

I didn't mind it. I liked the idea that Chariot Requiem was just a shadow, who could only exist by the light is creates behind your soul. That way it can turn Stands against their users while waiting for the world to transform. Think of Chariot as being the ball of light itself, and not the black plastic shadow.

The ending is an asspull and It is just perfect. The whole story is like Joseph is "that kid" and is retelling everything going "I swaer on me mum" every third sentence.

I don't mind that part, but the fact that diavolo figured out such thing exists and could punch it. Not to mention that destroying the light has no effect in the soul.

That's because the light isn't there to begin with, without Chariot Requiem. Chariot *creates* that light and is that light, which then hides behind your soul, casting a black spot, a shadow, where your soul blocks the ball of light and creates the space Requiem exists in, making it invincible.

Diavolo figured it out much too quickly though, yeah. It'd have been neat to see a little more time and evidence of it - maybe because he, Doppio, and Trish share a soul, he could see their balls of light as he soul-jumped around.

When you punch the light, you're not hurting your own soul, you're shattering the light bulb Chariot is dangling behind your head.

If The World is activated during KC, DIO unconsciously does his thing in an instant during the time skip. This means that Diavolo is unaffected by it, given that KC removes him from causality.

The entire fight starts with Diavolo saying it is a trial to defeat your past i.e what is behind you, your stand is your soul taken form and when you try to approach chariot it stops you. Defeating your past means overcomming yourself which is what Diavolo couldn't do. You're right about the body horror though, that was just to create some urgency but could have been cut.

I figured Diavolo existed in such a weird liminal state with Doppio all the time, along with Epitaph AND the time erasure, that he was constantly just experiencing the sensation of payoff, victory, 'climax', resolution. Getting to the best scene of every little moment, then skipping to another one. Hedonist as hell, with interludes of Doppio calls, which may as well be voyeuristic. It seems like there's a clear progression of Stand power. It all starts with getting scratched by the arrow. Then you got a clear kind of spread of weak to powerful. Some can even evolve stronger on their own. Then, if you get stabbed by the arrow again in the flesh, your Stand becomes even more power. If you stab your own Stand, it becomes Requiem and insanely, world-changingly powerful. Then one last tier up, if you perform DIO's ritual of achieving Heaven, you get a Heaven Stand, which is just maximum fucking bullshit.

Araki probably only knows 10 english words and freeze was already so overpowered in a non creative way unlike CD that he had to sideline koichi.

Happened the same to Rohan and The Hand, their stands are so strong that they can barely show up without trivializing everything and thats the big issue with part 4. He learned his lesson in part 5 and onwards to depower people or at least be op but more versatile instead of a one trick dog

Some of Act 6 and a lot of Act 7 feels like him perfecting what he really wanted to do with Stands.

Stands have a durability limit, if exceeded it can 'break' the stand totally. This rarely happens in the Story but is possible.

Star Platinum's power at the end was enough to 'overload' the Durability of the already worn down The World and destroyed the stand - and by extension DIO's soul or whatever the stands are supposed to represent. This isn't something that you can regen from so it was enough to put DIO down.

We've never seen Stands wear down before or after, though. If Star Platinum was already that strong it should have been able to do it from the start.

He defeated his greatest weakness by having it, but also opened himself up to the risk of having his stand completely destroyed by an equally strong or stronger stand. It was introduced earlier in the part when Avdol thought he destroyed Silver Chariot this killing Pol, but that turned out not to be the case.
