Can someone layout an essential Gundam kino guide? Looking to start the series from the start. Where should I start and go from there?

I've built Gundam models for years, but never really got into the series. Would like to now.

Don't waste your time.
If you need to ask, you aren't going to enjoy any of it.

Why is that? Is it boring and too much politic bullshit?

Yes.
You already enjoy the only good thing about it: the models. Don't waste your time with any of the anime.

Watch it and find out for yourself.

Stop being such a partypooper. Gundam has many great things besides of the robots.

Character designs, their personalities, ideologies, landscapes (it's not always in space). Out of universe: The soundtracks, OP/EDs, voice actors.

Essential Gundam kino: Gunam 0079, Zeta, ZZ, CCA, War in the Pocket, Turn A, Gundam Origin manga.

None-essential, but fucking amazing and in some respects better than essential kino: 008, G Fighter, After War X, Thunderbolt (S1), Wing, 00, the good aspects of Nu-EUC material, Gundam Build Fighters (S1), SEED

Trash, avoid at all costs: Stardust Memory, Iron-Blooded Orphans, rest of series spawned from Build Fighters, Origin OVA, F91, second half of Age, SEED Destiny.

Victory is somewhere between trash and none-essential kino.

>Trash: Stardust Memory, F91
Both are worth watching because they actually look good. Same with MS Team. Watching 50-episode long series with very little animation and detail makes you forget what anime with good visuals is like.

Stardust Memory doesn't look good outside of like every once in a while there's a meme "80's animation was so much better" keyframe with a bit more details than usual that even Zeta Gundam had regularly. And it's 90's OVA too. And the worst part is that none of the fights are any good, the only fight that lasts longer than a fucking minute is cuck's training session with mustache guy.

F91 is shit after Tomino's obligatory attack on civilians. The first 20 minutes are in fact really good, but story goes completely bonkers afterwards and so overbloated you can't breath in story, nor the animation in the end. It looks good entirely because of movie budget.

>Victory is somewhere between trash and none-essential kino.
It's actually essential you retarded newfag. At worst it's nonessential but highly recommended.

Stop using that word, it makes it obvious you're a crossboarding faggot.

>it doesn't look good except for when it does [almost all the time btw] and that doesn't count
How you must hate mecha anime if you think 0083 doesn't look good. Find me a single still from an earlier Gundam anime that looks this good and I'll supply you with 15 more from 0083.
>none of the fights are any good, the only fight that lasts longer than a fucking minute is cuck's training session with mustache guy
I guess Gundam has no good fights at all then if your standards are that high. Time for a rewatch by the way, there are several fights longer than that. You're free to prefer producer mandated fights that consist purely of panning stills and back-and-forth shots between the pilots though.

I am talking in language OP would understand.

F91 deserves to be watched for the sakuga alone. It's not like OP is going to waste a huge amount of time just by watching a single movie.

Disregard gundam. Buy more gunpla. Post your models please. Are you a painter?

Just watch Gundam Wing and Endless Waltz. That's it.

This board gets shittier with each year.

Still waiting until we get something as innovative and interesting like season 1 of 00. I like the older series as well, but this really hooked me in.
Also little to no QUALITY and a great production.

Probably your best chart but it's worth noting that 0079 looks ROUGH and it may be hard to get past that for some people and that Char's Counterattack is also very stupid.
Also worth noting is that you can start with any alternate universe Gundam (outside 00) and still get a similar story to the original UC because they all try and hit the same beats to various degrees of success.

My personal collection of these is pretty slim, just a few of the ones from Wing and its movie. I'm also no good with a paintbrush having shaky hands so I really admire seeing others work.
