FMA is a generic action/comedy shonen, basically a poor man's One Piece. It's filled with black and white insultingly basic battle of good vs evil and a typical take over the world plot with moustache twirling cartoon villain sues and comedic asides constantly ruining dramatic tension.
SnK is mediocre and amateur but it wins by default simply because FMA is actual garbage.

FMA is great from beginning to end. I literally enjoyed watching each and every episode when it was airing, but it was a 1-time ride I never got back. Everytime I replay the show, I always lose interest somewhere along the way. Once the plot is revealed to me, the show became unwatchable.
SNK have one of the greatest season 1 in all anime, it was infinitely rewatchable too so I can replay it from time to time (the BD versions at least). But seasons 2 and 3 didn't deliver as much, they also switched to using 3D for the colossal titan, which sucked badly. I even dropped season 3 halfway the first time I watched it.
I feel like Machikado Mazoku is a superior anime to both of them.

I actually disagree FMA takes a while to get good, there’s a lot of boring slow build up, I’d say the whole final arc is when it really gets good but the finale is genuinely bad, super corny, the villain is so incredibly disappointing in the end.
