How is this not just superheroes for girls?

They’re more like female Sentai/Toku than capeshit
Superheroes are for boys, mahou shoujo are for men.
They are just Superheroes for Girls
and Toy commercials too
yet still Kino(sometimes)
>2019
>still not a single competent magic or magic school anime
It is not
Nanoha uses techno magic
Real Mahou Shoujo
No Transformation, use real magic, no non-earth mascot, no destructive super power
>How is this not just superheroes for girls?
Because not all of them are targeted at girls, obviously.
False Mahou Shoujo
All inherited Hana no Ko Lunlun's Transformation ability, and Magical Princess Minky Momo's non-Earth mascot settings, as well as the fighting elements of Sailor Moon, and even imitated the fighting style of Shonen animation
Sailor Moon is also not a real Mahou Shoujo
Many times I remember this and end up asking myself what is magic
Before Sailor Moon, Magical girls were just about the girls being girls, nothing really special, after Sailor Moon came out it became girls teaming up to save the world and stuff.
>what is Momo doing in her show
This is an excellent thread. I'm currently trying to write an outline of the mahou shoujo genre and its influences. Please continue. And what was the deal with Shugo Chara!?
Lunlun was not the first mahou shoujo to use transformations. I would even go as far as to say that many of the shows before Lunlun were more influential in their transformations.
I never got around to finishing all five bloated seasons of Sailor Moon, should I just wait till Crystal adapts all important bits then binge it?
Nah, Crystal's pretty bad.
the first half of LWA is great
It actually is pretty much just super sentai for girls that's why it became so popular
If you want actual magical girls you gotta go further back
magical girls is a stupidly large bracket that encompasses tokimeki tonight to sailor moon to utena
supposedly at least
The originals are easily superior. Watch an episode every now and then when there are episodic stuff and take a break between every season.
It’s not
>magical girl
>doesn't do magic like d&d
>seagull
>It isn't in the sea
>goldfish
>It's not gold it's red
Allow me to introduce you to the concept of the compound noun, OP.
Which is weird, because the actual show and its title call her a witch (魔女), not a magical girl (魔法少女).
I'm not sure your use of the words squares up with Japan's.
SAILOR MOON IS THE ONLY FAMOUS ANIME AND MANGA MADE BY AN WOMAN !!! RESPECT IT !!! written and illustrated by Naoko Takeuchi
You understand that Takeuchi doesn't have anything with anime? Also she ever don't like it.
I understand
>All inherited Hana no Ko Lunlun's Transformation ability
Cutey Honey
kinda
