It already caused a mildly big buzz when the first few chapters got translated abd the big sales of the first volumes.
Kimetsu was pretty much dead when it first came out and when it finally hit it stride it had like 2 or 3 threads a week max.

BnHA was fine for the first series. Then it got progressively dumber and formulaic, culminating with "Wow, Deku, you remembered you have LEGS?!? AMAZING!" which is where I dropped that turd and never looked back.

I only realized now that every main character had a flashback in this arc just as they were about to die. They all were for a way/reason to survive n the face of despair. The scene where Tanjiro realizes he is about to die showed a literal web of memories on the screen.
Also realized all 5 main characters later on represent the five senses.

I spent yesterday getting caught up on it. Yellow jacket dude made it downright painful. I had to turn the volume on my TV way down because I just couldn't fucking stand it anymore.

The fight at the clinic with volleyball lady was the only part I really enjoyed and it was more or less downhill after that. Boar guy with his "I want to be ze strongest" is the most tired trope in shounen anime, though he got less annoying in the forest. And then of course the fated episode 19 was pretty much just every other fight (enemy is rly hard, sister comes to the rescue with love power) and the sole exception being that there's an insert song.

I don't really get it. Was the episode considered amazing because the ones leading up to it were such snorers? There was a real drought for interesting content after the clinic fight. Drum house was dragged out way too long and the obnoxious caterwauling of the side characters made it practically unbearable. Or was it really just because it had an insert song?

this. The series starts off strong and then immediately plummets downhill after Zenitsu and Inosuke are introduced. After that point the only good part is the flashy sakuga fights. I dropped it at episode 17 because I know Zenitsu is going to asspull some retarded solution to poison that's supposed to kill him in 2 minutes

The visuals and sound/music design, especially in the last episode, made it shine for me.
Every shounen anime drops big bucks on the fights and scrimps on the in-between. KnY does a great job of hiding this with high-quality scenes of characters just screaming and wandering around while Tanjiro advances the plot

I don't know what my relationship with Kimetsu is. I don't hate, I don't like it. I can't watch it unless I am drunk, but when I am drunk it's kind of fun, but I also literally don't follow the story.

Also, I don't think it had a single original idea so far, Nezuko doesn't work as a selling point because she sleeps throughout the show and story is a jumbled mess of Tanjiro going from point A to point B to point C where

Clearly you're saying it balances out to a resounding meh. Tanjiro and the fight scenes are great, everyone else is either garbage or not an actual character.
