A Silent Voice

admit it,it actually wasn't all that bad after all was it?

Because it's good, but it's also incredibly overrated.

It was good.

It was actually terrible, it's funny to me how you make this thread to praise the show, while posting an image that encapsulates one of the film greatest flaws.

Like you, just reminded how shit this movie was, and how terrible of an adaptation it was, all over again lmfao

I just hated how the MC is willing to put up with and "make friends" with the blond bitch and Ueno despite being giga cunts to his waifu. Just because he used to be an asshole 10 fucking years ago does not mean he should be a doormat and hang around with people that have barely changed and do not give a shit.

Yuzuru made it worth it.

wasn't it stated he didn't keep in touch with them till he saw shouko again?

Was the reason the deaf girl made Ueno seethe because the MC had the hots for the deaf girl the same in the manga?

Ueno thought the MC had the hots for Shouko. Ueno got triggered by the idea that the man she loves prefers another girl who she sees as objectively inferior to herself. The anime doesn't explicitly state it like the manga does though, you have to infer it.

But she got over it by the time she was in high school.

I think most of Ueno's problems can be summed up by the phrase, "is a cunt."

That's even worse, because if you have a girl who you care about and want her to learn to love herself, maybe it's a good idea to distance yourself away from the people who caused and continue to cause her harm, not go buddy up with them when they've evidently demonstrated that they're still shitty people. A very important part of self love in my opinion is being intolerant of people who cause you and the people you care about harm (to a point).

To be fair Shouko is a homewrecking cunt and a fucking slut.

Ishida's biggest mistake was not dropping Ueno the second she tried to play keep-away with Shouko's hearing aids at fucking 17, proving she still holds nothing of value as a person. Not forcibly removing her from the group after the Ferris wheel fiasco was another error in his judgement.

It's not like she went full psycho, holed herself in his hospital room, and attacked anyone who got near him.

Go to bed Ueno.
Christ that pissed me off. The fact that she wasn't ostracized by everyone from that point onward was fucking bullshit. Bitch even kept his FAMILY away.

I think I love her, bros

>romance subplot goes absolutely nowhere
>all of the awful characters actions besides the MC’s are handwaved and are “redeemed” despite doing fuck all to earn it
>second half literally feels like a fever dream with events just thrown in with no proper buildup or cohesion

I literally watched it an hour ago and I feel blueballed on almost every level. Inb4
>romance wasn’t the point
>muh subtlety

The first half was good before the bridge scene though.

>cuts the plot in half

it was objectively a terrible adaptation, but as a standalone movie it's a C at best

That's about what I thought of it. Up until the bridge things move along fine with good pacing and a nice mixture of sad, happy, funny, romance etc. Then you get the bridge scene and from that point until the end it's literally just sad, sad, sad, sad, here's some characters crying, sad, sad, more crying, sad, sad, sad, sad, are you crying yet?, sad, sad, sad, sad, boom it's over.

Though I haven't read the manga I've heard it said that the manga stops being good after the one-shot ends and the rest of it starts, and I'm not sure if that is where the bridge scene is but it would make sense as there is a definite nosedive in the storyline from the bridge scene onwards.

Shouya’s mom is a contender for the status of best mom in anime

We will see us in the octagon

I will end you.

Your Name is better.

It wasn't bad. It was trash

It's made pretty clear that she's taking up hairdressing in order to work at his family's parlor.

There's a weird thing with these healing series of them having vague "I'll stay with her until she finds someone better". Bitter virgin did the same thing.

I feel like I legitimately enjoyed it when I first watched it, but it ended up being unbelievably boring on rewatch and I couldn't make it the whole way through.

Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni was better

Anime adaptation was bad.

>overrated
I hate that word. It's a stupid word.

Good one shot
Shit manga
Even shittier movie
I'm glad that Yamada drones stopped pretending it to be some kind of masterpiece after moving on to Liz, that while not great it's still a much more solid movie.

Masterpiece, I loved it

It's amazing.

>maybe it's a good idea to distance yourself away from the people who caused and continue to cause her harm
>very important part of self love in my opinion is being intolerant of people who cause you and the people you care about harm (to a point)
If Shouya rejected them because they caused Shouko harm then he'd have to reject himself like he planned on doing. The series is about accepting that you can change but it requires other people to get that far. Shouya thought he couldn't change from his past mistakes and planned to kill himself but one meaningful event changed how he saw things. Shouko thought that she couldn't change from being a burden so she planned to kill herself but one meaningful event changed how she saw things. People can't just exist in a vacuum by themselves or with people they've personally selected.

She takes up hairdressing because Shouya's mom made her feel like a person when she let Shouko pick her own haircut instead of just letting her mom pick it out. I fully believe in the romance arc being incomplete but you can't argue that Shou^2 don't end up as a couple. You don't get holding hands on the last page walking into their school reunion and NOT be considered a couple.

KnNW chad here. After the arson, I'm inclined to feel sorry for it. But that's about it.

>If Shouya rejected them because they caused Shouko harm then he'd have to reject himself like he planned on doing. The series is about accepting that you can change but it requires other people to get that far.
Which only makes sense if the person itself wants to change. It's clear almost immediately that Ueno and Kawai not only haven't changed, but they don't intend to and don't even want to aknowledge their past mistakes. Keeping them around is pure retardation and merely an excuses for dragging the story longer with contrived melodrama.
>People can't just exist in a vacuum by themselves or with people they've personally selected.
I'm sure that you're aware of the difference between merely tolerating the existence of assholes and actively pretending they're your friends, which is what happens at the end of the story, all acting buddy buddy with cunts that have done nothing to deserve forgiveness. It was so jarring and nonsensical that I was almost inclined to believe that it was retarded japanese custom rather than simple shit writing, you know, keeping up appearances and not causing problems and pretending that nothing bad happened.

But they are friends. They all make mistakes. Shouya is probably the most innocent one among them given that his major mistakes were from group behavior and happened when he was a child. Remember that Shouko nearly caused him to die. That's way worse than Ueno being a unrepentant bitch and Kawai being a legitimate psychological narcissist.

Attached: Shouko 033.png (460x520, 116K)

And shit remember that as much as we despise Ueno for being Satan's cheating mistress, both Shouko and Sahara legitimately like having her around.

>But they are friends.
They clearly aren't, unless you have the most warped and superficial notion of what a friend is.
>They all make mistakes.
And Shouya aknowledged those mistakes and tried to change and make up for it, unlike the other cunts, who on top of choosing to ignore their past behavior they keep doubling down on it.
>Remember that Shouko nearly caused him to die. That's way worse than Ueno being a unrepentant bitch and Kawai being a legitimate psychological narcissist.
Not only hurting Shoya was involuntary and her attempted suicide was more or less understandable given her experiences and psychological state, but once again, she aknowledged her mistake and tried to change and make up for it, which the other cunts never did. You should really stop trying to excuse this shit.

Yeah they clearly aren't friends. All they did was spend weeks making an amateur film together and hang out all the time and decide to move in together for their out-of-town education. That's not a friend.

second half fumbled its pacing.
The cake making scene specifically. I liked it and watched it 4 times.
Cried every time

The thing I hate about this Manga is that he tolerates Ueno but I guess every Manga has its villain otherwise things would be too nice.

Designated villain so that the series isn't a hugbox sums up Ueno pretty well. But the characters are a little more complicated than people give them credit for.

Attached: 0061-007.png.jpg (1066x1600, 300K)

manga was better fleshed out. Anime pushed way too hard for Ueno to be the "villain".

Barefoot Gen but every character is Kawai or Ueno when?

Did the adaptation have the same shitty ending as the manga?

You can spend a lot of time with people you don't care about. All of that is meaningless fluff, if when things get serious you clearly don't care about your "friend" well being, you keep hurting him and refuse to aknowledge and change your bad behavior. Like I suggested, you seem to have only the most superficial idea of what friendship is, and in this case, yes, I guess they are "friends", a friendship is defined merely by appearances.

Even worse, they didn't even hold hands.

No, the movie ended with the festival where Shouya "took off" the Xs he put on everyone's faces.

>they act like friends
>they spend time together like friends
>they try to understand one another like friends
>they tease each other like friends
>but they aren't friends because I have a stick up my butt about Ueno not prostrating herself in front of Shouko and apologizing for all the world to see
user you're retarded.

Attached: 0062-008.png.jpg (1066x1600, 392K)

You seem to be describing their relationship during the carnival and most overtly during the ferris wheel and hospital. Naoka saw Shoko as overtly disingenuous with her complete reliance on her disability in her social interactions while having all other functions working normally, culminating with her attacking Shoko in the parking lot.

That started to change when Shoko insisted on more forceful interactions with Ueno, which is what Ueno prefers.

Manga is ten times better

>Look at this cutesy inconsequential scenes, which certainly make up for the fact that these shitty people who keep hurting the protagonists never did anything to deserve forgiveness and friendship!
>>but they aren't friends because I have a stick up my butt about Ueno not prostrating herself in front of Shouko and apologizing for all the world to see
>Look at how I keep refusing to address the issue by typing a silly hyperbole!
user, I'm certain you're retarded.

It's not a bad movie though.
