In the author Q & A session at the Volume 4 Extras Aka explicitly states that Kaguyasama "uses alternate history going back to the 9th century. Four Zaibatsu were not the same & were never dissolved".

Therefore the "war" in question could mean anything, but if I wanted to locate it somewhere resembling our timeline based on the Volume 1 Extras that states that "social mobility became less rigid after the war" I would actually suggest the equivalent of Russo-Japanese War of 1905. In our world Japanese public was butthurt as fuck because the gains (part of Sakhalin + Russia giving up its claims in Korea & Manchuria) was perceived to be too small compensation for the dead. Ensuing public unrest eventually led into Taisho democracy where public was pacified with increased rights (though in practice they weren't as good as on paper). Perhaps things in Kaguyaland happened differently because of the different history and Taisho democracy managed to sustain itself (such as maybe no economic collapse & tariffs in late 20's that caused the world recession or maybe Japan's proposed racial equality clause in Paris Peace Conference of 1919 wasnt vetoed by USA this time around). Having observed the nip fandom, I'd say they like it because it's cute and funny. I could elaborate on why it's cute and funny, but that'd go on for a bit too long. This is a romcom, so that's what much of the audience is attracted to. What aspects they find most cute and funny vary. No matter how I look at it, Aka has put so many flaws onto it that it's basically destined to fail.

1. The fact that Ishigami blames himself for that night is already a huge red flag and makes it seem he's still holding Tsubame to some unobtainable standard where she can do no wrong. It's not a balanced relationship if Ishigami is the one shouldering all the responsibility.

2. They such at communicating, and to top it off, they don't understand each other either way. 155 & 156 already show this, with Tsubame having a completely different view of what Ishigami would think, and vice versa. The latest chapter just further reinforces this, with the reason revealed that Tsubame just hadn't gotten over her latest break-up, while Ishigami still thinks that it's his fault that the relationship isn't working out. Another red flag for me.

3. People have said that Tsubame will help Ishigami "improve himself", whatever that means. But, these improvements are incredibly surface level and don't address his actual issues - his insecurities and fear of other people. He's not gonna mature from this process when his point of validation is a girl who he projects an idealistic image of.

4. Even if he truly does want to "improve", his feelings for Tsubame really aren't that strong. So far, the reason why Ishigami likes Tsubame is because she's nice to him and energetic. That's it. Unlike Shirogane, who found something more fundamental to Kaguya (her struggle to be kind), Ishigami's understanding of Tsubame is shallow and might even be completely wrong, yet he makes no effort to know her more. In a previous chapter, we had Ishigami trying to get good grades for Tsubame, but Aka specifically underscored how that motivation quickly lost to a much bigger one - he wanted to thank Kaguya for helping him, implying that he wouldn't have worked as hard if not for the fact Kaguya was there. In the last chapter, while Ishigami is hurt by the rejection, what hurts him the most (what he remembers and the last thing he's thinking) is the fear that he might have hurt her.

Its pretty obvious aka will end it with Ishigami alone but heavily hinting him an Rino have a chance.

Depends from person to person. I've seen fans portray it a number of ways. Miko's small and emotionally immature, so Ishigami looks large and dangerous by comparison with his long hair and everything. I'm assuming this is what might be called "hot". There's also the Tsundere part, watching a girl develop emotionally and fall hard for a dude is cute, as are the awkward antics before she accepts that. Then there are her other deep-seated emotional issues to ensure that awkward antics will continue long afterwards.

On Ishigami's side, he's a cute sensitive dude with a dorky sort of prince-like charm at times, and I guess they see a lot of potential in how that would interact with Miko. For me, I'm just in it to see her mental collapse. If she actually makes progress wearing down Ishigami, I will also be in it to see his mental collapse.
Right now, I think a key issue here is that Ishigami still has never once worked up the courage or confidence to approach her. He got lucky with an accidental confession that made Tsubame think he approached her first, and so she has unwittingly been the one coming to him every time.

I think there are three months already set to determine compatibility and for things to not work out. Right now, things are going deceptively well, with the keyword being deceptively. Lucking into this shit through a misunderstanding, while being clearly depicted as lacking the courage to approach Tsubame on his own, is not a good sign. There are a lot of clear warning signs that may or may not be addressed in the future, but it's not looking great at the moment.

Speaking in terms of reality, Tsubame is BY FAR the better girl to be in a relationship in general, but Miko and Ishigami have better chemistry and a good history together.

Mostly it comes down to the weight of ages. Tsubame and Ishigami haven't spent that much time together. Ishigami and Miko have. Time is probably the most important factor in a relationship, once you meet the minimum requirements (nobody finds the other disgusting, you don't have incompatible plans for life).

I meant what I wrote, even if there are pictures of Miko being fucked on her teddy bear. I've read their stupid fanfics and comics, so I've a general idea of what they like. An Ishigami who is awkward and shy but can be cool when he needs to. Can you describe how it's perfect? Because from what I've seen, Ishigami has tried and, more importantly, failed to boost his confidence enough to approach and ask out someone he hardly knows. Other than that, he's managed to respond well enough when Tsubame comes to him and apologizes to him. Nothing he's worked on to impress her has actually meant anything.

Everything has just been the result of buying a giant cookie that he thought was just a giant cookie, and him not being a total douche. Ishigami's got three months to fix his approach, or else he won't have earned a win with Tsubame.

Correct, most of the time the immigrants who can't speak English are the ones who are much older and live with their family and/or never travel outside of the community that speaks their native language. I don't really know about TOEFL, but IELTS and Cambridge English Scale require at least some fluency to get a passing grade, both in speaking and writing.
