Interesting... Not well written in the slightest but it was interesting for what it's worth And I actually liked Gantz 0
What were Yea Forums's thought on it?
Personally I heard people saying the ending was rushed due to the almighty axe, but it started going rapidly down hill story wise the first time the MC dies.
the osaka cgi movie was decent since it focused on the only non mediocre part of the story beginning of the manga was retarded and didn't know how seriously to take itself ending seemed to drag on for years tae was never an interesting character whole story was made so oku could wank himself off over his 3d drawing method
Gavin Garcia
I actually loved pretty much everything between the third mission and the early portions of Katastrophe. Kurono had surprisingly good character development when he had to step up as the leader, growing as a person and learning to care about others again, and I really loved the theme of the team being made up of random people from all walks of life, coming together to survive while balancing out the issues they have in day to day living.
My only problem was that I felt like the ending arc was just being made up as it went along, with major characters dying off-screen or just randomly disappearing. Then it all just abruptly ends after a huge amount of build-up, and there isn't even an epilogue to see how things turn out for the survivors or the remaining aliens. Like Oku was just burnt out on the story by that point.
So I have a soft spot for it, but acknowledge that it was a pretty messy series that kind of crumbles apart once it starts to have to wrap everything up.
Loved everything about it, besides, ironically enough, the "alien gods" at the end. They appear out of nowhere with no foreshadowing at all to give some nihilistic speeches that never come up again or become relevant in the plot. And them they kinda just dissapear while leaving the MC's for the final fight.
Josiah Parker
Forgot to mention. Yes, they HAD a purpose on explaining how they were involved with Gantz tech, but honestly, i would have prefered if they kept it ambiguous.
Nathaniel Walker
Immediately became shit after Kurono left Gantz and never recovered.
Brandon Rodriguez
That entire bit was rendered pointless when they revived him and he just became a member of Gantz even though he was free
I did not understand that one bit literally destroys that entire story
Ethan Allen
The whole brother/vampires thing was dumb too. The author should've just said they were aliens that humans called "vampires" since ancient times.
Grayson Wood
I thought it would have been fine if Kurono's brother had been more relevant at all. But it's kind of comical how quickly he's axed off and never brought up again even once.
Asher Rogers
Why do you type like that?
Leo Lopez
MODS MODS MODS
Isaac Jackson
AUTISTIC AUTISTIC AUTISTIC
Liam Sullivan
Why does everyone say the ending was rushed? Sure it ended without denouement but still as a final climax it was great and hit all the right notes. I'd understand way more if katou died
Carter Hughes
because muh vampires
Chase Kelly
I actually really liked Tae early on, simply because I thought it was nice to have one person who was just genuinely kind to Kei and down to Earth amidst so much other cruelty and bullshit ulterior motives in the series. But they really needed to give her more agency in Katatsrophe beyond just having her bounce from hostage situation to hostage situation for months on end. Like having her be the one to make some semblance of peace between the giant alien woman that Kurono forces to help him. Or hell giving her a gantz suit.
My main gripes were that they just wiped out the aliens all at once after a sudden final boss fight with some schmuck that Kurono had never interacted with before. They had all this build-up around why the invaders may not necessarily all deserve to die because they had civilians and random families caught up in the middle of the conflict too, but the point's just dropped in the end when the mothership goes down.
And there's no aftermath showing us what happened to everyone or where they ended up now that they were finally free. Also Reika dying off-screen and no one noticing or caring what happened to Sakurai was bullshit.
wtf was even the ending? It was so long ago I just remember it in fragments. Correct me if I'm wrong >Hitler alien hosts an AMA >during the AMA Hitler aliens throws a lot of red pills >Hitler alien's kind didn't like the giant 3 dick aliens >Hitler alien sent schematics on how to build advance alien tech to earth to thwart 3 dick invasion >some autistic fat chick receives this signals >millionaires use the info to create Gantz systems and build a game out of it >Reika appears and then dies >everyone drop pods back to earth >Hitler aliens fuck off to God knows where Did I remember it right?
Not entirely, the alien shifted from many faces besides Hitler like Ghandi and some others. Though they did explain how they sent the plans to build Gant's to that rich guy and also there to say >Oh there is no god or souls lol >Death doesn't matter you all reincarnate through some weird DNA bullshit >clone MC and his love interest will reincarnate as mother and son >Alien says we didn't really car for you guys see ya
Matthew Ross
At least we can recreate Big Fucking Mech March chapter with help of EDF.
Mason Martin
It should get you the death sentence you stupid fuck
Isaiah Thompson
>Life is meaningless There is no God >Watch me kill the MC to prove me point >jk your lives totally have meaning and the MC will be reincarnated in family with the people he loved in this life
Talk about mixed messages
Henry Murphy
Well he killed the cloned MC
Ian Roberts
>Oh there is no god or souls lol >Death doesn't matter you all reincarnate through some weird DNA bullshit which is for all intents and purposes, a soul, that weight like 23 gb of data or someshit also they pretty much act like a capricious gods
Ethan Edwards
>Not well written Like, which part, but don't mention Katastrophe.
Michael King
Everyone seems to say it went to shit when the vampires came, but even that part had some very memorable moments. Like when the vampires come to get kurono's ass and they show him his brother's severed head.
Julian Nelson
The first half of Gantz was really good. That's the problem with mangaka who are assholes. The guy who made it is a huge asshole who just doesn't care, which is great at first, but then when he decides that he doesn't like the manga anymore and fans can go fuck themselves, you end up with shitty endings like this one. The last good arc of Gantz was the one where they fight dinosaurs. After that it's completely retarded.
Jackson Howard
Why did the autor have to shit so much on Reika? Also was giving an epilogue to the Gantz team so hard?
The room of truth sounds good in concept, but ended up feeling an ass-move to piss of readers.
Jackson Cooper
DUDE NO GOD but reincarnation is totally real bro. honestly was one of gantz funniest chapters tomb raider was best girl and i loved her
This. Couldn't stand reading tae/kei chan! for the billionth time
Josiah White
The chapter would have been redeemed if one guy says aren't they technically God? I remember a person commenting about that chapter and that point that despite they saying god doesn't exist they sure act like one. Did it? I only remember how bad it was. Especially that part of who gives a fuck brother dying and it being worthless.
Alexander Myers
>best boy dies off camera still mad. you have to ask yourself, what was the point of having him survive all those trips. why did MC and others comment on his ability to stay alive, only to kill him off camera? there had to be more to his character, why did they suddenly just scrap him like that?
Joke character. He was only kept around for a gag or two, brainlet mangaka kept him around to use later for something, but never figured out what he wanted to do with him.
Dylan Wilson
manga full of potential, yet the author dint know what do to
What was he going to do against the bad statues? Depending on the kind of aliens they will either attack 1) Threats, 2) Targets or 3) Everyone, in this case the Buddha aliens were attacking all targets, including doggo, it made sense for him to die just like the rest of members.
Mason Thompson
someone post that image of humans having sex with giant aliens
Jack Edwards
I didn't expect him to really do anything. I'm just disappointed in the way he was killed off. user from above called him a joke character, which is totally fine but he still deserved a full page death scene.
Parker Ramirez
I'm almost 100% sure the author was just fucking with us around the 8th time Tae got stolen or Kei got teleported.
Luis Wilson
The only page he would had gotten would be exactly like in the anime where he got smashed by one of the statues, I liked it better in the manga where you just assume that instead of watching it.
Benjamin Gomez
Gantz has some of the best pages in all of manga. Just seeing this one after all the shit Kei and Kato went through was amazing.
It has beautiful art but its full of dropped plots, edgy writing, torture porn, plot holes such as whole thing with vampires and a rushed ending.
The main alien gods were dickheads for no reason. The giants were rushed and not given proper screentime. The vampire side plot was poorly done.
The art was amazing though which is why I stuck with it. It also had amazing erotic scenes as well. My favorites were the MC fucking the super tall girl and then one of the Gantz raping one of the giants near the ending. I actually came in my pants while reading that one. I wished that they had a scene with the shorty alien fucking a human as well.
Jaxon Mitchell
>tomb raider was best girl Literally the only opinion that matters
i only watched the live action movies, and i quite enjoyed them a bit. am i missing a lot of stuff or is it not worth it?
Tyler Moore
Gantz is basically the best manga ever made so yeah, you are missing a lot, read it and enjoy.
Elijah Gutierrez
im in the middle of reading detective conan rn. should i stop that and read this instead? (i wouldnt like to read 2 long manga series at the same time desu.)
Wyatt Morris
Not him, but I've only seen the anime and read the complete manga. If the movies stop at the same point the anime did then you're missing a lot. It gets even better characters and the story gets more interesting. Detective Conan is ongoing and Gantz is finished, so you can get right back to Conan when you're done. If you get as hooked to Gantz as I was you'll have finished it in a couple of days. It's impossible to put down.
Gantz doesn’t have too much text. You can fast read it in about a week
John Young
>ywn get reincarnated just for your dick
Wyatt Martin
Purely luck I assume. Gantz was big time in Japan for a little bit too, I guess.
Ryan Smith
I didn’t like this ending but then I’ve read that Hiroya Oku was inspired by some american movie about astronauts coming back from space. It’s really touching in the end.
I read this a long time ago and I don't really remember, what were the aliens they fought during the missions? aliens already living on earth? what did they even eat? how did people not notice them? did they always stay concealed as statues/dinosaurs/whatever?
Kayden Myers
>their look was random >they ate onions >they were refugees from the worlds that got destroyed by giant aliens
Carter Gomez
Not only that but they were all DIFFERENT aliens from other planets not all the same aliens who also just by coincidence wanted to go to earth.
The final aliens were also THE STRONGEST... who were beat by aliens who are not THE STRONGEST using Gantz... but those aliens can also just make you explode with their mind
Jayden Cook
>The final aliens were also THE STRONGEST... who were beat by aliens who are not THE STRONGEST using Gantz... but those aliens can also just make you explode with their mind
If I remember correctly the giants didn't "defeat" the god aliens, it was more like the giants consumed everything in their path and god aliens got mad at them and send technology to the humans. I always understood it as more like an ecological thing than open warfare.
Ethan Harris
Weren't the Giant aliens called refugees?
Adrian Stewart
Oh for sure it was worthless but the chapter was cool as fuck with Kurono fighting them with make-shift weapons made from home supplies.
Gavin Stewart
I dropped this series around the Osaka arc I think, when the mech appeared. Not because I didn't like it but just because I never got around to reading it again. Whatever happened to the panda?
Leo Wood
She didn't get enough attention, I thought she was the hottest
Jose Parker
After all that repetitive (and sometimes cool) monster slashing, it drowned in its own fame. The author has run out of ideas and started all kinds of side stories with characters halfway explored or introduced just to forget them 5 chapters later. It had a good introduction, a mediocre main story and an awfully rushed and shitty conclusion.
Kayden Gonzalez
jesus christ, she's so fuckin' fine. i'm starting to understand why MC got so heated after she jumped on another nigga dick after he fed her and gave her shelter.
Oliver Long
I actually enjoyed it, but probably mostly because I genuinely liked their relationship.
Jacob Martin
I still remember when Yea Forums lost their shit over this
>Oh there is no god or souls lol How can there not be god or souls when vampires exist? That doesn't make any sense.
Hunter Reed
so i read gantz recently too, but i was left with several questions >what the fuck was with the last mission? the italy thing, they were sent there to fight the statues but the thing is that they were fucking several magnitudes tougher than the katastrophe 3dicks, i mean they fucking broke the weapons and suits by just scratching u >the 3d models hacking gantz and teleporting into shit i mean the things that made these weird light balls and the things that killed reika and the things that attacked nishi and the kid, and the suit guys, what the fuck was that about? was it ever explained? >why did they make a game out of gantz? i mean, from the way it's used the cost of arming people is negligible, why resurrect some random teenage girls and boys, old people and kids when you could have trained professionals? i mean imagine if each country that had gantz made a squadron of 200 thousand soldiers all equipped with gantz tech, the 3dicks would get wiped out in like a fucking hour >why weren't espers utilized more? sakurai fucking genocided a chunk of 3dicks all by himself, just make 1000 of sakurais and modify their memory or something with gantz fuckery and u can wipe out literally everything
Dylan Torres
it made babies with reika
Logan Rodriguez
A dude dressed as a dude disguised as another dude?
Ryan Nelson
That shit was the most based thing I'd ever seen from a manga.
Brandon Martinez
shitty manga for edgebabies to jerk off to. even worse than berserk in that respect. dropped it halfway through and hated myself for not doing it sooner. >400 pages of dumb fucks running around with sci-fi rifles, with a lot of 'hah, hah' breathing and zero common sense tactical use. doesn't even succeed as mindless action. just fucking bad. kill yourself if you like this series.
Joseph Ross
It's an edgy trainwreck, but it's an entertaining edgy trainwreck.
I agree completely and I believe Yea Forums only enjoys it because it isn't popular enough. If it had a loud fandom everyone would point all the injcredibly shitty stuff in this all the time
John Phillips
>why resurrect some random teenage girls and boys, old people and kids when you could have trained professionals? Because it’s more entertaining
Logan Turner
Looks like someone needs to chill. Try some weed and relax lmao
yeah, the kyoto arc, that one where they hunted down the arsonist alien
Jason Kelly
I dislike it but Oku fascinates me. Gantz and Inuyashiki are both so unpleasant to read, his work has this absolute loathing of humanity in it, I can't imagine the guy being anything else than a severe misanthrop.
Angel Bailey
that shit would be rad as fuck to witness in person
Leo Evans
Doing a depressant before the combat is retarded. Meth makes much more sense.
Tyler James
blame oda
Ryan Morgan
one of them also takes heroin
Jayden Stewart
Where're the pubes?
Jordan Hall
gods dont have pubes
Benjamin Stewart
Kei's character arc culminating in the resurrection of Kato might be the most satisfying moment I've ever read in a manga period
Levi Sullivan
has the author ever made hentai?
David Rogers
Who was the guy the journalist met who could kill people at will and made the plane crash?
David Howard
Kek
Luis Myers
I'm drunk and can't think straight right now, but I remember seeing an authors commentary about the motion blur on a bouncing breasts nipples: if my unreliable memory is correct, he claimed that he introduced the specific technique and other authors picked it up, so an answer is most likely "Yes". I can't point out an exact title, sorry.
I forget but the thug boyfriend that killed the kid died right? I don't recall if he was the demon vampire that tried to fight the group
Nicholas King
>So I have a soft spot for it, but acknowledge that it was a pretty messy series that kind of crumbles apart once it starts to have to wrap everything up. This>i would have prefered if they kept it ambiguous and this
Colton Young
Independence Day?
Mason Morris
The statue arc when the whole team gets wiped was what sold me on Gantz too bad that was last good arc apart from Osaka and Rome
Jeremiah Flores
Osaka was awful, that's when Gantz went to shit. The Oni arc was a fantastic finale for the series, if he wanted to continue the series he should have gone back to his roots: Unexpected deaths and assholes getting away with it.
Nathan Gomez
Vampires was worse than Osaka my man
Ayden Torres
Ver good until katastrof
Hudson Gray
Who is best boy and why is it Muscle Rider?
David Turner
I didn't count it as an arc but in some publications its called like that, so yeah, I guess that's the worst of all. They were an interesting concept.
Adrian Morris
I wish to see more douj featuring Reika, but alas.
Would've been awesome if Kurono cloned Reika for the threesome with Tae.
Sebastian Wright
Started off as a GOD tier manga only for it to blow it's load early with pic related
Phase 3 is where it all started to go wrong(gore was still top tier tho). i feel bad for anyone who read that shit weekly with that girl screaming the protags name every damn chapter
one of the greatest premises in science fiction, completely wasted in one of the shittiest writers in Japan. I could even forgive the shit writing, if the end didnt waste so much time fellating Tae and Kurono.
Blake Harris
say what you want about the story, but the designs were fucking top tier The Italy mission was fucking kino, i wanted to see way more international missions, but we got monkey pawed with katastrophe. the bearded dude was amazing
James Gonzalez
>why did they make game from gantz Because that fat german whale though it will be fun, kek
James Hill
last fight was good tho
Isaiah Wood
Made no sense
MC just became a samurai suddenly
Owen Williams
Could be, I don’t watch hamburger movies
Oliver Ross
More like Jesus. The "final boss" landed one hit on Kurono despite moving close to the speed of sound if not faster.
Kevin Moore
>There will never be a decent Gantz vidya >Either Metal Gear Rising sword action or killing floor gore creating guns
god is wish. I don't have the balls to do it myself so the only think i do is get high and watch anime all day. Just end me pls
Carter Green
Tomb raider and Tae were ugly.
Alexander Cox
Makes sense to me given the manga's like 50% cg to begin with. They literally drew it over models, which is why it's so ludicrously consistent.
James Clark
There's a lot of negative satire about society when your series opens up with a bunch of people unwilling to help a man and some high schoolers who fell onto the subway tracks.
But I think Oku takes some stabs at misanthropic nihilists as well, considering how Nishi was basically just a sicko that gets his shit kicked in at the end.
>freaking out over marijuana It's funny, because I thought the coolest guy on the Osaka team was the guy shooting up with heroin and cruising around on the Gantz bike, actually protecting his lower tier teammates.
Carter White
I liked when Nishi acted and looked like a crazy kid. Him returning probably had to do with the editorial pushing the author to do certain things.
Cooper Miller
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if he returned solely because he was a fan favorite.
I still thought it was lame that his return didn't really amount to anything beyond revealing the Katastrophe timer though. They used a revive on him, and he has one redemptive moment with Takeshi that's never brought up again, and he gets two 100 Point weapons that he never uses.
It was a fucking mess, but a fun mess nonetheless. The art and action was top notch and it was entertaining to see what stupid thing the author was going to add to his nonsensical plot. It's a good read, just don't expect a well thought out story.
Anthony Watson
gantz apologists are the fucking worst.
Grayson Adams
in reality mass shootings are mostly caused by white men
Jordan Williams
haha i forgot about him. too bad he didn't make it.
David Moore
Lol no. Stupid American. Even in your own country, it's mostly blacks. Keep sipping that mass media koolaid
Evan Miller
I agree it. She should have a terrible experience.
A truly excellent manga despite its bad art, lack of art, terribly dropped plotlines, and MASSIVELY labored ending. Really, the mangaka did everything in his power to make it suck, but it somehow manages to come out looks pretty damn good.
I've never heard Gantz described so accurately. But also
Joshua Anderson
I liked it. It was like Mr Bones' Wild Ride that you same time want to stay on and get off.
Evan Price
it is unironically my favorite manga
Jacob Walker
It's been a while since I read it so help me out anons if you can
I remember a part where dinosaurs from a theme park/musem somehow came back to life or some shit, stood up and started using karate moves to each other? Am I remembering wrong? I think it was in the part with those gay ass vampires
Anyway this manga is fantastic, Osaka arc is fucking kino
