GITS does really right by its genre, and the fanservice is great
Berserk also is a staple of it's genre, but probably has the highest variation in quality, you'll be fine as long as you don't catch up (since it's the only one still ongoing)
If Ken is anything like the anime it'll be the easiest to transition to from shounen shit
Haven't read any alita, it's the least well known of the bunch

Listen that first arc is the weakest part of the story. The story gains a significant amount of depth and impact as you read on.

I think he means how the perspective/framing of the scenes in the panels isn't very dynamic in Berserk.
It gets more noticeable the more manga you read.

Gunnm just shows more organic dynamism in its 3D figures moving in space; Berserk is more akin to posed dolls with intricate detail.

Ken is probably the worst, it turns into absolute shit after timeskip, and worldbuilding just dies : authors pull new super secret martial arts and evil relatives out their ass every 10 chapters.

My beef with gunnm come with the "plot twist" in last order.
This is my narrative kryptonite that kill all my passion for a story. I don't give a shit for robots. A toaster with a pretty anime face is still a toaster. And the attempts to humanize machines usually simply become cringy to me.
Only ghost in the shell was able to portray a concept of artificial lifeform that truly felt alive to me.

Cant believe people are comparing berserk with these other mangas in the bunch which are good but non of em comes close to Berserk.

Ah I see ok. Although, I don't think that is a flaw with Berserk. The detail kinda owes itself to the static nature of the panels. Miura gets all the impact and magnificence he's going for with the Berserk panels.

Ghost in the shell, as everything made by best mangaka in existance Masamune Shirow, completely deserve it. Especially now that berserk is only a shadow of his former glory.
Berserk stopped to be a masterpiece after the butterfly loli arc. From that moment onward it just became a generic fantasy manga.

As i said, is still good but no more a masterpiece.
Compared to the majority of fantasy and isekai shit is still outstanding. But it was until the "lost childrens" arc that was worth of the title of "best manga ever made".
Now the author is blatantly tired of this manga. He wish to make more lighthearted and shonenish stuff. And you can notice that in berserk.

There is "last order" and "kasei senki". Last order is kinda crappy, look like lots of editorial meddling, to the point the author was so frustrated he decided to switch editor. A thing that doesn't happen often in japan cause of the bushido loyalty japanese people give to their workplaces.
Is were the "plot twist" happen and the manga get stuck in the Namek tournament. Oh, and there is vampires too... seriosly...
Kasei senki is much better but doesn't undo the plot twist.

Last order and Mars Chronicle are still going on but the original series had an ending of it's own that's a fine cap to the series. The other series just sort of ignored the last few chapters of the original to keep going in a separate continuity type deal

About mars chronicles is mostly about Gally's origins and her martians years. But is not a prequel cause switch continuosly with the events after last order.

The original series is perfectly fine in a vacuum and if you want more you'll understand when you go to read it
