Like said, I watched everything.
I also did the unforgivable and streamed them all via kissu.

I checked the first 2 or 3 TV seasons first, and then went back to check the movies and OVAs in chronological order, after which I continued with the later TV series' seasons.

Slayers PC98, Slayers SFC, Slayers Wonderful, Slayers Royal, and Slayers Royal 2. Almost all of them feature animated cinematic cut-ins and have an intro song, and Slayers Royal was recently discussed because of its anniversary year on a Japanese "old games" show (not Gamecenter CX, though...)

They're all kinds of fucked. It probably doesn't matter at this point. I have yet to see the latest BDs for NEXT, but if they look anything like the S1 BDs, just pick whichever sticks.

All of them are strong in their own way, but the light novels are probably the weakest due to not being able to properly convey physical comedy, which is Slayers' strong suit. The manga has much more "racy" physical comedy, with some of the manga promoting Lina, or Amelia, or even Gourry fanservice, depending on the team's preference.

Hajime's request. It's understandable that after 30 years fans want the two of them to interact more than they already have in a radio drama (I think?), but it's ultimately his decision and it's something everyone working on a Slayers project will respect and abide by. At some point, though, he may have them meet for realsies.

AND I ALMOST FORGOT that the Japanese music program, Anison Days, which features live covers of various anime intros with an in-house band and a guest artist, recently did a cover for Get Along, the theme song for the first season of Slayers.

In my opinion, even though they didn't invite Megumi to do it, it's still a very strong cover, and a good alternative to the main intro itself.
