The anime ending was better. Everything in the series was literally building up to this. In fact, after the prologue the very first episode talks about fear and how Maka says that fear can make people stronger. Literally all the villains are preying on the characters fear, people keep caving into their fear, which causes them to be consumed by the kishin or other demons. (literally in black stars arc, the masamune manages to possess people by sensing fear in them).

The Kishin is created through fear, meaning even if the protagonist uses some super attack to obliterate him, he will just respawn till the end of time as he eventually wins.

By not relying on brute strength and using a power that's within everyone, she was able to do psychological damage to the Kishin and made him realize how pointless his goals were. Maka literally uses the same philosophical concept the Kishin used for his power, to defeat him and when the Kishin understood this, he gave up and realized how meaningless the battle was.

He was literally fighting so that people will understand him, and yet in the end Maka opened his eyes to a new perspective to get rid of him once and for all. That's probably the most original shounen ending you're ever going to get. The thing that all the villains thought was a human weakness, turned into being their greatest strength.

I think the biggest problem the anime had was the whole coupling plot with Meisters and their weapons teaming up, only for the big bad to be defeated by a single girl who just acts courageous and punches a few times.
It's as if they're saying there's no point to the concept of the team-up in the first place.

Then there was the whole revealing Maka is also part weapon for no fucking reason. Why even put that in there?

I get what they're going for. I really do. But it was messy and handled poorly.

>Courage punch.

>Better.

Soul Eater deserves a brotherhood more than FMA deserved it.

I liked it, it prevented an endless cycle and vain ending. The concept of teaming up helped them even reach the end in the first place. Kishin is a manifestation of something that exists within everyone however, it NEEDED to be beaten by the same concept. It makes 0 sense for teamwork to beat him. He wouldn't have been mentally defeated.

Yes, courage punch was better and you have no argument.

The manga sucks and ended in boobs and a moe NOT spin off

>Soul Eater deserves a brotherhood more than FMA deserved it.

LOL no!

FMA manga (with no shit fan service) > soul eater manga with tits in soul’s face

Let's be entirely honest. It was a BONES ending. The fact it was slightly thought out was nice.

And then we saw how the actual ending went, and suddenly, it wasn't nearly as bad.

Thematically, I like the idea of recognizing that trying to beat a being based on fear by grouping up and throwing all your strength at it is inherently self defeating. Engaging him alone and bare handed, while demonstrating Maka is still fucking nuts, is entirely discarding the strength the Kisshin has.

It's still an asspull, and only ended up being better because jesus christ that manga ending...

>and only ended up being better because jesus christ that manga ending...
