The intro scene before the character creation is completely unchanged though and the game contains Skyrim's outdoor location to run it. For a lot of the western fanbase Kamen Rider truly starts with Black (1987) or Kuuga (2000), Black is the last Showa season and personally the best of the bunch, Kuuga is the beginning of the Heisei era and brought a renewed style for the franchise.

Well it comes down to it, Blossom probably has to be the one main pink Cure that didn't see any preferential treatment during her series movie or finale arc outside of possibly the original two series, she didn't get any movie exclusive or finale super powered form (yes Infinity Silhouette looks like her, but the intention is it's the combined power of all four)
Every series after that had some level of pink spotlight during their the movie or finale arc, or both. Tsubomi really would have to be the most de-emphasised main pink in the franchise, it's really not surprising to me that she is the lowest Heartcatch on the HNK rankings.

You're thinking about it too black and white. Just like how so many yellows get majorly shafted despite having the same number of focus episodes as everyone else, Hana doesn't have to have specific events to herself - she steals half of what would ostensibly be scenes for no one in particular, or for the whole group.
She obviously does have super special stuff all about her too, though. The whole damn overarching plot centers around her without her having to lift a finger to make it so, because of the time travel motivations. They basically took the same plot structure we often get with a magical kingdom or whatever and just made it about Hana instead. Imagine if in Doki, Marie Ange was secretly Mana, Ai was Mana's daughter, King Selfish was Mana's husband, and the bad guys were Mana's future cabinet members when she's Prime Minister. That's Hana.

Being at the centre of the plot isn't necessarily the end of the world, but ideally it'd be nice if the MC turned out to the be kind of person you'd want to see be that important. Whether she's relatable or endearingly hardworking, or incredibly unlucky but endures it all so bravely that you want to see her rewarded, it's hard to control what an audience will feel but you can definitely aim to inspire that kind of emotion in them. Admittedly it's easy to reinterpret authorial intent as that, but I think in better works you won't feel like they're trying to convince or manipulate you, they're just telling a story where you eventually both want the same thing to happen.

During the middle portion they often got big moments during episodes that were technically focused on other characters. It was actually closer to how a pink is handled than the usual extra cure. Of course, that completely disappeared by the final arc, when Hana got the usual focus back.

Sorry, but what scenes did Hana steal from others? I know that she had a presence but the focus really did move away from her for a while. She never got as much screentime as it felt like Mana did.

She was the reason for the plot but that doesn't mean that's a bad thing. I think that it was handled mostly well except for a few things here and there.
Hana wanted to change herself and become a cool, stylish type of girl. That at least sets up her motivation. I hate bringing up Mana to compare but my biggest problem with her is she is already at her finish line. There is no part of her that needs to grow, she's done developing. And to add to the super special bit said earlier, Mana is super special too. To just have her break out of her heart being corrupted was the single most unnecessary scene in Doki. There was no need to have it, and her just doing it so easily hurt the ending. If they had her heart taken and her friends managed to save her that makes it a lot better. Sure Mana kicking butt at the end was amazing, but it just put me off the ending.

Well, I didn't say it was exclusive to Hana, so maybe? I'm just saying that Hana dominates her show moment-to-moment in minor ways. I wouldn't say it happens "all the time" in Precure though, there are some seasons that don't feel unnatural in their division of dialogue. No one would ever make that complaint about Maho or Heartcatch, for example. And it only happens sometimes in most other seasons.
