Is this the biggest asspull in anime history?
Is this the biggest asspull in anime history?
Jojo has many.
O
Goku asspulling a new super sayian form every time he needs it.
see birds can float on hot air so he just harmlessly let himself go limp and be pushed away the explosion thus avoiding most of the shockwave
i mean this is so expected that i don't even think you can call it a asspull at this point
Asspull is when something happens without logic or explanation that is works within that anime world rules. So it's an asspull.
not the biggest asspull in all of anime history, but yeah he should have died
Kakashi's perfect susano is the biggest one.
MY
RUBBER NEN!
Wrong.
Alluka is worse than this, even tho this is awful too
Even that wasn't the biggest asspull in Naruto.
O MY MENTAL GYMNASTICS!
>this level of cope
O MY LOW IQ!
>this level of seethe
SEVEN
QUIRKS
O MY PHILOSOPHER STONE WITH NO REPERCUSSION!!
Naruto had plenty. I don't know what's the biggest. There's also:
>Pain changing his opinion after Naruto beat him
>Izanagi and Izanami
>Sasuke walking free
KUBOOOOOOOO
KINOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
There was repercussion, it took his life force! FMA always covers it's back, you wont find asspulls in this show
And he doesn't even do anything important
Lmao based
This series has like 10 asspulls harder than that
Not if it happens 5 time
Who else needs to be added?
Naruto has 50 asspulls bigger than that
Based
Cringe
This is not a asspull
the point is that DBZ rules have made most of the forms not be complete asspulls
>SSJ1 was foreshadowed for almost all of Namek
>SSJ2 was Gohan's entire character arc
>SSJ3 was an asspull for Gotenks, Goku's was just lazy "it happened offscreen" writing
>SSG was an asspull, but can make sense considering that there were no saiyans that would know of it. Real question is how the fuck shenron knew
>Blue is a retcon on how the transformations work in general since it's just a regular transformation but using the god ki instead, which implies that saiyans can transform into all sorts of alternate forms if given different ki and potentially allows for them to throw SSJ4 back in if they ever feel like it
>Trunk's berserk form was an asspull and he should've turned green if they were going for the broly rage route
that said transformations are established to be a thing saiyans get to the point where a saiyan being unable to transform is an asspull
His entire character is an asspull.
It's an asspull
>people watching fantasy anime
>complaining about asspulls
Watch slice of life if you want realism, retards
That’s not an asspull that’s just oda outright refusing to acknowledge what happened
It's oda not wanting to kill because he doesn't like killing characters. You can always justify it as pell being a zoan therefore has high endurance and tanked it. We have seen non-zoans tank worse than that.
The pain arc was actually good. And it was the least pain could do. Tbh anime should have ended right there
>It's oda not wanting to kill because he doesn't like killing characters.
What about those fuckers in the same very arc who he established just to kill off?
Eva 01 going super saiyan every time the plot needed it is
who? i genuinely don't remember anyone dying in the alabasta arc
>You can always justify it as pell being a zoan therefore has high endurance and tanked it.
He was in full bird form and birds are markedly less resilient than humans
The only way I can justify it is that he somehow flew it up high enough, then flung it higher before it detonated and dived back downwards fast enough to get out of the worst of the blast. He was a peregrine after all, with the fastest diving speed of all birds.
Not sure who you are talking about but he does kill. Just not as much as edgelords here on Yea Forums want. Usually nameless background characters.
Those give super Alabasta super elite squad who basically killed themself to take Crocodile with them but fail anyway.
Can't remember the name of the group but why should I?
>Usually nameless background characters.
So they have nukes in one piece? It was an ass pull no question but I thought it was just a giant bomb, I don’t mind it fully cause I did like pell as a character but it is a shame how it under cuts the impact of the scene. It’s kinda like how the fourth season of the venture bros completely undercut the impact in ORB from season three
>He was in full bird form and birds are markedly less resilient than humans
Just becoming a zoan itself will give you durability/strength boosts. Depends on the animal too of course, but it should be higher than the base stat of a human.
>The only way I can justify it is that he somehow flew it up high enough, then flung it higher before it detonated and dived back downwards fast enough to get out of the worst of the blast. He was a peregrine after all, with the fastest diving speed of all birds.
That's the explanation I believe in, but the other one is easier to explain. Also, I should mention that the bomb is not a nuke. Just a regular bomb. I always see that line thrown around in these discussions but nowhere does the manga say that it was a nuke and it would be weird anyway for nuke technology to be something crocodile has his hands on. If anybody, I would expect it from vegapunk.
The super duck squadron I think, didn’t they survive? I thought I remembered seeing them in the celebration, those deaths were pretty cool though
>deaths were pretty cool though
It was pointless filler.
They came out of nowhere accomplishing nothing except establishing that Crocodile is not and idiot we already knew and then died a pathetic death.
Worst elite squad ever.
>I thought I remembered seeing them in the celebration,
Impossible. Even for OP that would be stupid. They literally poisoned them themself to death
At least make the development grounded on the series' laws
Not just some you know what power up hahaha kind of shit they're deepthroating fans with
It was a bomb with a 5 mile radius, its stronger than the hiroshima bomb if anything.
Igaram not dying in that ship explosion was a bigger asspull than this one
I used to be of that opinion but this one is actually really interesting to think about in retrospect. We know robin isn't on crocodile's side, she doesn't always follow orders, is a good natured person, and generally does what she wants. Why would she kill igaram for no reason at all when she isn't one to kill in cold murder? Just like how she doesn't kill any of them when she was on their ship and even offered to help with a eternal log pose. What I like to think is that she setup an explosion near the ship to make it look like he died so baroque works believes she did her job.
Happy anniversary btw
Would robin have been able to kill them there? She certainly would've gotten ussop and name but she can't do anything to luffy
It's the most pointless asspull too since he was never important to the story to begin with so why even keep him alive?
Lmao that was stupid...
I am mystified as to why this gets so much shitposting. How can it be the worst asspull ever when it doesn't matter in the slightest? At worst it ruins the impact of the sacrifice.
transforming is what saiyans do. Its a convienent way to show something got stronger with out relying on physical actions. Ass pulls are something that arent preestablished
its going to be so weird when Oda explains this one someday.
It really angers me when I watch a cartoon and something unexpected happens.
Technically Kubo did earlier state that they go from 1 through 10.
But Kubo was never the sort to let himself be bound by petty things like logical integers or "things he wrote previously."
An asspull and yes, yes it is. It was explicitly stated that the numbers went from one to ten.
You didn't know he was alive until like tens of hundreds of chapters later or something, and it's just a retcon more than anything. You could make the excuse that he dropped the bomb and then flew as fast away from the detonation as he could. He's also not a main character. But then you have shit like just about everything in DBZ and Naruto where it feels like everyone is just trying to one up each other. If you want an asspull, Cell not being killed when his head was destroyed comes to mind, and Naruto going all Ninja Jesus and saving Might Guy as well.
>Jotaro's stop time is not foreshadowed
D'arby fight says hi
>You didn't know he was alive until like tens of hundreds of chapters later or something
You see him alive at the end of alabasta.
you literally see Pell alive at the end of the alabasta arc, idk what you on about m8
Wasn't it only that you heard he was alive, not actually see him? It's been a very long time.
no, he actually appears and it's clear that it's him
>So they have nukes in one piece?
Yep, made by one Dr. Vegapunk
You don't see him directly but you see someone walking away from a doctor thats holding his head band saying he left it. There's also that part directly before that where the jackal guard states that he can't cry over this passing and he doesn't know why
Far from it, Pell living or dying doesn't change the course of the story at all. He was a minor side character for one arc.
Well, even still, you could make the excuse that that's an end of an arc reveal, and it's not like he just fell back to the ground in front of everyone and showed that he was alive. I can't remember just how many chapters is between that and the end of Alabasta, but I would imagine people were waiting months, if not an entire year at the time if you were following it. I think that's a key important aspect to remember, is that we have no trouble catching up to things now, but back then, you probably didn't see or hear about Pell again for a long-ass time. And like what just said, he's a minor character at best, so it just ends up being a sacrifice that wasn't actually much of a sacrifice, which is everywhere in Shonen. I mean, Sasuke looked pretty fucked dead at the end of the Bridge arc, and during the Sasuke Retrieval arc, it looked like characters like Choji and Neji fucking died too, but turned out to be alive. Then Naruto tanks Sasuke punching a hole in his chest because of Kyuubi shit. I guess it's all just relative.
One Piece makes very few asspulls, but that's mostly because there's no consistency to the plot and no stakes for anything. hard to fuck up a bunch of short stories taped together.
Though man did he butcher his entire main cast. They aren't even a shadow of what they used to be at this point. Poor fucking Chopper.
>O MY COMPUTER EYE
>I don't read one piece but I'm going to pretend that I do
Have you ever seen a bird get ripped apart by a bomb?
No?
Checkmate, mortalists.
Also, this literally exists.
>One Piece makes very few asspulls
user, I like One Piece too, but you don't have to lie about it. You could very much argue that Gear Second was one of the biggest asspulls at the time of its introduction. Then there's Zoro pulling Asura seemingly out of nowhere, as well as Sanji spinning so fast that his leg caught on fire despite seemingly being a completely normal human whose entire combat capability at the time was that he could kick good.
>zoro has always been described demonic in nature and there are many references to this like him communicating with his swords, being able to feel the presence of curses in blades, etc
>strong Buddhist beliefs
>there are clear references to asura douji which is what the ashura move is based off of
You have to be a retard not to see the connections.
>You could very much argue that Gear Second was one of the biggest asspulls at the time of its introduction
Luffy literally said he has a new move he wants to test out the previous arc before he uses gears, and getting his first powerup after about 300 chapters into the story more than overdue.
>as well as Sanji spinning so fast that his leg caught on fire despite seemingly being a completely normal human
Sanji was the only weird one, but there's no way you can say that he is a normal human.
One piece has a lot of small things you can call asspulls if you really want to niptick, but unlike most other battle manga, it has no training arcs. It's a given that they will develop their powers in the current story or gain them offscreen. Not the best solution, but I prefer it over training arcs. It's not bad the way it is being handled. One piece is more about the story than the fights anyway.
>O my Rayleigh flashbacks
Wishing
From what I know the reason why he didn't kill off Pell was because it was around the time 9/11 happened
>he can't attack spell cards from your own field
No wonder you're not the king of games, user.
Pick one
>You have to be a retard not to see the connections
Not user. Just because there are references doesn't justify him suddenly have that technique.
That's what makes it unexpected.
Not the ducks, these guys, they did super doping trying to kill Crocodile, but he is a logia, and they died
Not an asspull, just seemingly out of left field and adequately explained later.
If it were left to the reader to assume so, sure. Twisting the reader's assumptions is perfectly valid. But it wasn't. We were told x, but it was actually y, what a twist!!! No, fuck that noise.
Do you get mad during magic tricks as well?
>it took his life force!
Consequences that you don't get to see in the actual story are not real consequences.
>just seemingly out of left field and adequately explained later
That's what we call an asspull user. Do you honestly expect me to believe that Togashi started the manga with the idea of Yusuke becoming a demon in mind? Bullshit, he would've forshadowed the fuck outta it if that was the case.
>brainlets still don't realize duelist Kingdom was just a glorified tabletop RPG game
>doesn't even do anything cool after that
>not even a single thing
>just like the first encounter
Even tabletop RPGs have well-defined combat rules you sperg.
O MY DEMON LINEAGE
Only asspull of the 5 is SS3 and it was fucking useless.
This was just a gag though. Nothing serious came from this.
Any rule only lasts so long as the DM finds it entertaining. Pegasus was more than a little eccentric.
Bungee Gum possesses the properties of both rubber and asspulls.
It goes both ways, manga card game had lots of those and it wasn’t just on Yugi’s side.
i wanna pull the biggest ass in anime history
On the topic of the duck squad,I found it even more unbelievable that Carue managed to carry Vivi several kilometers after being shot, and I think with a broken wing and be 100% fine a few months afterwards.
None of them compare to the biggest asspull in dragon ball history
elaborate please for a brainlet
This is the worst offender
That's the biggest asspull? Nah, everything after SSJ was an asspull because SSJ wasn't supposed to be "SSJ1" it was supposed to be THE super saiyan transformation.
Tbf Toriyama didn’t know Goku was an alien until four years into writing dragon ball. Though I’m still pissed that the last arc wasn’t Yusuke and co fighting off demons in the human world till he could get to sensui. Honestly Sensuis ass pull was more offensive then yusukes
T. Didn't actually watch Z
The asspull started with him suddenly appearing out of fucking nowhere and flew away in time before the bomb went off.
You're talking about a series that includes highlights such as
>Black Zetsu was behind EVERYTHING that ever happened
Jotaro stops time to get a cigarette and a drink. He also does it when he's about to get crushed by High Priestess' teeth and when Wheel of Fortune's user sets him on fire.
Don't forget Kale and nuBroly.
>kale's green form is completely out of nowhere with zero explanation and can match SSB immediately
>nubroly gets dabbed on by regular SS but apparently now you can use oozaru power without transforming whatsoever and he can match SSB immediately
No foreshadowing or explanation as to why. I get that they wanted to maybe reboot SS4 with nuBroly but it makes even less sense now.
Even fantasy worlds have rules, retard. An asspull is when those rules are suddenly broken without any logic to it at all for the sake of convenience.
Who gives a shit. Pell is not an important character.
That whole arc was too long enjoyed sky island more
>this retard again
>being a brainlet
He was saying stuff she was least likely to do to, that was the whole point.
It's such a big asspull that it still impacts the series to this date. Now hundreds of chapters later when Pedro sacrifices himself similarly the impact was ruined because you're used to characters living and dying on Oda's whim with no logic whatsoever.
The idea was super cool and not an asspull
But then 0 doesnt do anything and the whole lame fight is meaningless
Not really if you think about it.
imagine Heracles or Hercules or w/e you want to call him doesn't fucking matter.
He's strong as FUCK, nobody ever questions that.
Now imagine teaching him every single practical martial arts today. Every single one. And I mean until he a master at it.
He'd be even more fucking insane.
That's just the same thing being applied here. Goku and Gohan back then just managed to perfect the form. It's only when Toriyama said 'Lemme make this form that will never win a fight ever' did we get numbered forms and Gohan simply at that point achieved a martial artist's perfect version of an ancient power.
i do hate what happened to the main cast
You do realize that the plot has been one big ride ever since the timeskip, which was what? 9 years since now?
I do agree that the stakes should be higher though. All dramatic tension fades away whenever Oda decides a character that definitely would be dead in fact survives.
Honestly I considered the fact he could move within stopped time to be the foreshadowing that he could stop it himself. As it was just him overlapping his own stopped time with Dio's. Him stopping time at will felt as if he had gotten used to it due to working through Dio's and due to having the Joestar Rage powerup, the same one that made Johnathan beat down Dio the first time.
Does one piece even has rules?
Everything could happen, I won't be surprised if oda decided to make an island full of robots.
Nobody would care, it's just the norm
thats hardly forshadowing though. if it had a moment of stopped time frames in the anime or changed the way the manga does then it would make sense or if jotaro was like "hmmm how the fuck did I do that so fast I don't think even star platinum was normally that fast" SOMETHING so the viewers are clued in even the most astute readers and watchers were like "wait now he just stops time bullshit because muh similar stands"
>this amount of damage control
you mean like Kurapikas Emperor Time. then its an obvious asspull too
Damn, still an overall top tier series
>dude i'm 0 and actually the strongest
>would get utterly destroyed by 1 and 2
It was great foreshadowing for Kenpachi's true power though
Espada Ranking = Reiatsu
Which is why Starrk is ranked higher than Barragan despite the latter having the more OP ability. Yammy simply has a near limitless potential for Reiatsu because it increases with his rage. I think a match between any of the three would be closer than you imagine.
>O MY FLAMING FIST
>O MY VOLCANO
>O MY SAME STANDO
>O MY AMBULANCE
>O MY GOLDEN REQUIEM
>O MY UNIVERSE RESET
>O MY INFINITE ROTATION
>O MY ROKAKAKA FRUIT
The fucking stretchy finger is worse than all of those
Volcano and same stand are the only asspull here and you could argue that the same stand was foreshadowed.
>O MY UNIVERSE RESET
Change it to O MY STAND DISC or O MY GRAVITY SPOT
How about Bleach's ending?
You know, where ultra-powerful-basically-God Ichigo kills Juha Bach, but Bach as the power to rewrite the future (that's right, past-tense the future-tense!) so Ichigo didn't? And then he breaks his perfect double/single sword because why not? And then Juha Bach leaves for absolutely no reason whatsoever, without killing Ichigo or anyone there? And then Facebook stabs Ichigo through the heart, literally seconds later, and that allows him to re-write the past to one where his sword DIDN'T break, no, literally? And that, apparently, this gives Ichigo all of his energy back so now with his unbroken sword which was essentially, apparently, to kill Juha Bach follows Juha Bach to swing his sword at him again and Juha Bach literally breaks his sword AGAIN because why not? Except it was Aizen the whole time? And Ishida shoots a silver arrows at Juha Bach that literally any enemy in the entire series could have seen coming and dodges, but Juha Bach didn't because the series needed to end and he needed to lose! And it removes all of Juha Bach's powers, literally all of them, for 1 second, literally 1 second, for absolutely no reason why except that it's made of pure silver found in dead Quincies' hearts, and they talk about it for, like, 7 minutes, but apparently that's not 1 second and so Ichigo with his not-broken-wait-I-though-it-was-broken-no-that-was-Aizen-was-it-really sword swings it at Juha Bach AGAIN but this time saying "getsuga tensho" which kills him? Except it doesn't?
And then it instantly jumps something like 7 years into the future so they watch world boxing champion Not-Chad Yasutora?
Definitely not an asspull, amirite? Bleach was such a well thought out, well-planned series!!
Were Renji and Chad the biggest jobbers in Bleach?
191813704
>phrases each statement as a rhetorical question-kun
Literally more retarded than Kubo
