Nexon/WTJP technically has a protagonist, but they're a silent player avatar, so for all intents and purposes Serval can be considered the main character. Caracl serves as her foil. Your typical straight man/funny man routine, simple and straightforward. But KF2 is somehow trying to ape KF1's setup of having a fish-out-of-water human as the protagonist with Serval as their support/guide. Now Caracal becomes harder to fit into the dynamic, she just becomes a third wheel. Early concept art even shows Serval and Kyururu journeying with no Caracol present, so she was seemingly shoehorned in just because.
