We have no proof that Will can charge his choker. If Accel stays as good as it is, and Railgun also delivers I think Index 3 will be mostly forgotten (but not forgiven). They're lucky because they still have a shit ton of content that can be put into anime format, if they don't just rush through it 8-10 years of NT anime will probably cement it as a pretty big series.

No, because Index is fundamentally structured differently than SAO; in truth, Index is the better LN, but is not amazingly suited for anime.

Index is superficially monster of the week, and the broader picture is slow to come into focus. The first 10 arcs don't appear very well connected, and are in fact merely an introduction into the world of Index, filled with large swathes of bread crumbs about the setting and future.

In contrast, SAO is a lot more visibly connected in the beginning, allowing a longer, more complex storyline in the opening phases. They had 4 volumes for the first season, plus some side stories, all of which they strung together well for 2 coherent, connected story arcs.

They need a director who knows how to create interesting visual imagery during exposition and properly create well-timed scenes during emotional moments than rush through. Otherwise moments like Aleister v Mathers (just an example not saying we'll get there) would come off as awful.

Anime-wise? yeah. Though it became bigger than they expected and they failed to capture it and keep it going. Aniplex was able to do it with SAO. SAO S1 isn't amazingly produced, it was fairly average, but they kept it going so it wouldn't lose its momentum.

LN adaptations even of beloved content will be rushed out like garbage so they can move onto the next project or make spinoffs, in Raildex's case. And they're cheaper to make too, like how they reuse assets and music from Index, or only 1 cour like Accel
