Episode 117: 交わらない道 – Majiwaranai Michi (Paths That Won't Intersect) After finding out where Ai is, Yusaku heads to an island located in the outskirts of Den City, all by himself. Ai has already started making copies of himself on the island, using the SOLtiS he acquired from SOL Technologies. Ai reveals his motive for attacking humans, as well as all the thoughts he's been keeping to himself. And now, with the future of the world on the line, Yusaku and Ai begin their first and final battle.

I got the starter set when it came out, and a couple of years ago I was interested in it when I found out the japanese game had a much more expansive card/figure list. It seemed to me though that the game would have even more "filler card" issues than the main game does though. What's the point of summoning one of the many level 1 10/10/10 monsters when something like Twin-Headed Dragon (20/10/10, When you summon this monster, add one crest of any kind to your Crest Counter.) exists and is also level 1? What's the point of Red-Eyes Black Dragon (level 4 Dragon/Flying 30/40/20) when Blue-Eyes White Dragon (level 4 Dragon/Flying 50/40/30) exists?
Maybe the metagame is niche but the anime and game have been pop culture since it first aired. The casual players and duel link players are also everywere.
While I would happily adopt that game for the figures and gameplay that I enjoy just as much as DDM, the card layout is awful. Compare it to how rad looks.
Why did DDM receive the gba game while Capsule monsters received the PS2 one? Capsule monsters didn't even show up in the duelist anime exept in that crazy non canon season made for America only.

It's valid because you need to realise this "Villain Ai" plot is just a setup mini arc that works like a compressed season. Think S1 where the parallels are Ai=main villain=Revolver and Roboppy=close aide of main villain=Spectre. There's no Faust/Baira/Genome minor villain equivalent because again, mini arc. Ai vs PM final battle should work out to be around the end of Sept, and the next cour in Oct will lead to the actual endgame boss.

Because of how little focus he gets in comparison, it's also hard to care for how he could be the hero or the champion as the ending of the series. She's not really mentioned after that. In fact I think some versions even just say it's a random human that opened the box (actually a jar). The thing most focus on is the contents, but like a lot of myths, there's interpretations it contained blessings instead of evils, the Hope inside is actually false hope etc etc. There's a lot of ways this could play out in Vrains.
