sales for the film are nothing special though. what happened?

>voice actor
>manga artist
huh?

Maybe taking the time to learn other people's jobs is why everyone likes working with him. Gets along very well with the VAs for his movies for one thing

Nothing happened. Kimi no Na wa was a cultural phenomenon. As long as TnK makes from 150-200 million WW and BTFOs some Ghibli "classics" along the way, all will be fine.

how come every single movie of his have these weird young VA that I have never seen before? They are not regular VA we know in anime right?

Only for his MCs. Yuki Kaji and Shun Oguri are in this movie. Kana Hanazawa was in Kimi no Na wa, etc.

>Kana Hanazawa was in Kimi no Na wa, etc.
She's also in this movie, apparently. Not an extra, but a very minor role.

this movie just seems way more generic than kimi no na wa.

>be Flipfag in Burgerland
>my country is getting this in August before Burgerland gets this in late 2020 because muh Oscars

Shinkai typically casts real actors. Not VAs.

>writes same story over and over
>#1
How can others even compete?

It's still close to YN projections, but nobody gives a shit this time.
Marketing gave it a special treatment
>Summer release
>More screens
>Hyped to hell and back even before the movie was finished
>"From the director of Your Name" tag
YN sales was phenomenal since it screened by the end of Summer, with fewer theaters and low hype (at the start), together with low confidence of both director and producer due to how Garden of Words flopped so hard.

1st chapter's already out somewhere

He's a known seiyuufag
Blows VA budget hiring A-listers for minor roles

>yfw when my shithole country can watch this this month
feels good man, too bad nearest cinema is 50km away

Imagine being this obsessed with Miyazaki when Shinkai himself is a Miyazakifag.

>because muh Oscars
It pisses me off just as much. I don't even know who watches the oscars or any of those award ceremonies, and I'm sure they don't care about anime. I guess because Spirted Away got it one year, it's the norm now.

his wife was so lucky, wish i was her

>BTFOs some Ghibli "classics" along the way,
This persistent obsession and inferiority complex is pathetic.

I only know her from Ryuhei Kitamura's Versus. She plays the chick (her character is credited as the chick).

>Shinkaichads
>obsessed
Stop projecting, it's the other way around. As soon as Shinkai BTFO'd his "legacy", Miyacuck came out of nowhere to announce that he desperately needed to come out of retirement to make yet another kiddy flick. He is a sore loser who just can't handle Shinkai's genuine success and graciousness. Shinkai lives rent free in his (and your) head.

Shinkai didn't BTFO anything since Spirited Away is still above it. Miyazaki has said he was going to retire in the past as well only to make another work. Ghibli has cemented its legacy with beloved classics just as Laputa/Nausicaa/Totoro/Spirited Away which are all essentials viewings among any nip. You Shinkaifags are the ones constantly bringing him, and Ghibli up in your own threads. It's pathetic, and embarrassing at this point. Miyazaki is up with Ozu, Kurosawa etc has a legendary Japanese filmmaker.

Not that user but Miya-san is petty as fuck. A genius is still human. The point is Shinkai will never touch Miyazaki quality-wise

>still above it
>way less than 500k difference
>15 years apart
OH NO NO NO NO NO NO GHIBLIBROS... WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WHEN KNNW RECEIVES ADDITIONAL SREENINGS IN THE FUTURE? WHEN IT RECEIVES ANNIVERSARY SCREENINGS? WHEN IT RELEASES IN MORE COUNTRIES? THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!

>The point is Shinkai will never touch Miyazaki quality-wise
Duh. As I said earlier, Miyazaki cemented himself up there with the likes of Ozu and Kurosawa as a legendary Japanese filmmaker. Could Shinkai do the same? Sure, but I don't see it happening. His works are shallow. Pretty to look at, but shallow and forgettable. Shinkai himself is a Miyazakifag.

>He and his team basically established the whole system. They created what Japanese anime is now. It’s impossible not to be influenced by him. I saw Laputa [Castle In The Sky] when I was in Junior High School. That was the first movie I went to see with my pocket money, that I paid for myself – and it was great. There was nothing like it. It’s not like I want to make movies like his movies, but I want to achieve what he achieved emotionally for lots of people, including myself.

Based

>Stop projecting

>shinkai is the head of current anime
Everyday I hate this medium that people call "anime" I want to see it burn like never before

Don't worry, in less than 5 decades every country will be a shithole country.

I'll start giving a fuck when it gets a theatrical release stateside or the blurays drop

that said, I am looking forward to it as a huge shinkaifag since beyond the clouds

Calm down Barisaku

One Piece movie movie and Lion King are releasing today in Japan so it'll obviously lose this weekend, but that's ok.

Aus distributor is betting big on it, its screening later this month at my middle of nowhere rural cinema
Will probably be the only one in the theater desu

>will be shown in my shithole
>dubbed

It will probably do better than Your Name everywhere but Japan.

Heard it won't do well in Korea
China still loves him though

It'll be in over 100 theaters. Easy to get mates to come out since it's not at just one obscure cinema on Lygon Street.

Your Name did almost 28 million in SK. It's doable, but it depends on how slow things are over there. The Chinese release date is still not confirmed, they gotta hurry up with that.

Apparently trade disputes might affect sales
Conan didn't do well there this time, compared to their previous release.

I read the other day the SK government want to ban Japanese cars to run on the streets. The 5G stagnation is making gooks insane

the only bad thing about him is that shitty haircut

They should just ban Hollywood shit. The trade war is (mostly) against the US.

I noticed shinkai haters are roastie lovers, they hate love stories and teenagers.

>they gotta hurry up with that.
can't wait for the 480p camrips

Next Shinkai movie should include teenage sex and teen pregnancy. Imagine the butthurt.

I just want another feet movie.

Too much talent.

It's gonna be the highest grossing japanese film of the year, that in it of itself is special.

Still waiting for a full-length movie.

don't worry, the industry is in good hands

Attached: 190807113747.jpg (424x640, 52K)

how can one man be so talented?

Shinkai? More like Godkai

would you accept a compromise of precipitation fetish? its practically guarenteed.
