Why is this guy a hero now?

Attached: gilfat.png (1920x1080, 1.73M)

he's an incel

Nasu doesn't like writing actually human characters anymore so he just jerks off servants.

Like that time in CCC when he retconned the treasury of babylonia to also include all future inventions of humanity just so Gil could have a faster than light drive.

Nothing nasu did would have any impact on that though, in the actual Epic of Gilgamesh the story starts with Gilgamesh terrorizing his subjects by beating them up and taking their wine, girlfriends and food because he's an unstoppable demigod so his people decide to get another demigod named Enkidu to fight him

But then he becomes friends with Enkidu.

He's a hero in the old school sense of "DOES GREAT THINGS" rather than "superman somehow avoids killing people while throwing cars around because he is a gud boi". Essentially a pre-Christian, warrior society conception of a hero rather than a jesusesque guy willing to die to save people (like Shirou).

I guess you could go a step further and say Shirou (and Archer) represent a modern hero while Gilgamesh is an ancient hero.

>But then he becomes friends with Enkidu.
Holy mother of based

Nasu originally wrote him as a pathetic psycho stalker straight out of a shitty shoujo (because Fate is just a shitty shoujo that was genderswapped. and Nashit is a hack) and he was meant to be a shitty jobber against le epic big dick japanese protagonist, nothing more.

Then Urobuchi salvaged his image in Zero by basically rewriting him, and this interpretation of the character became very very popular. Since then he's been retconned into being a "cool guy" even by Nasu & co. because Gil prints them jewbucks. And they came up with tons of justifications and handwaves for why he was such a cunt in F/SN originally, such as "grail curse made him more aggro" and "the modern ages pissed him off".

Because the death of the author hasn't happened and Nasu felt like jerking off the favorites. Popular Fate characters get more sympathetic by the year as their flaws get washed away.

No, they definitely said that Gil is so cool even the corrupted grail doesn't affect him. Modern day humans pissing him off with their weakness is his justification.

>his justification is "NORMALFAGS REEE"

/ourguy/

why is it that everytime someone post a Gil thread and a million powerlevel fags come flocking to bump his thread 24/7?

The job of heroic spirits in fate-vers is to defend humanity against extinction level threats.

The qualifications are therefor massive strength along with the desire to save at least some humans. Their morality is not of much consiquence.

He was already retconned into a cool guy in the old psp game

>pathetic psycho stalker
>literally how he is in his Epic until he actually mans the fuck up and decides to be a "hero"

Hero =/= Good in a moral sense. Lots of heroic spirits are dicks, slavers etc. They're heroes because they are the pinnacle of human achievement or myth that have guided its evolution.

>/ourguy/
>Dislikes? Those who don't push themselves to the limit are boring. That is the difference between a man and a beast.

Reminder that Gil would be absolutely disgusted by base lifeforms who refuse to push themselves. We are literally what he hates the most.

>bronze age
It was a different time.

I just read the fate route.
He doesn’t get corrupted since his ego is so big?
He’s chaotic good even though he feeds off of limbless skinless orphans and tells arturia he will rape her?

Heroic spirits are people who made a contract with the grail in order to achieve power to fulfil their legend

headcanon

>weaknesses
>referee why isn't everyone as strong and cool as me?
I fucking hate "divines" sometimes.

It says in the VN, you should try reading it

Gil has very high standards for basically everything. In his view, strength and excellence are the greatest virtues, because only the strongest and greatest people will be able to create magnificent things and add to the splendor and beauty of creation. Weak and useless people have no place in Gil's vision of the world except as fodder for the strong. If the only way you can be useful is to provide sustenance to somebody more powerful who can actually accomplish wonders, then you might as well die for their sake because you weren't going to do anything worthwhile with your life anyway.

It's an almost-alien perspective from a semi-divine being.

you gotta lose the battle to win the war. Some casualties are necessary for the greater good.

Do you think the grail distinguishes between good and evil? Why do you think Gille de rais was summoned then? You think he's a good guy?

Attached: servantdebt.png (1920x1080, 1.75M)

I think it was specifically shinji that did the job.

Attached: shinji_a_shit.png (748x1352, 328K)

Because you're a casual who doesn't read the VN.

>Per Notes.
Future is fucked. Earth is ruined. Most life dead. The air/land/sea are toxic. Humans did it. Humans only still survive because they artificially changed themselves. They try to survive as the other "types" attack era Evangelion style.
>F/SN VN
Gil clearly explains that too much of a thing is bad. Too many humans. Gil mentioned how he couldn't find 1 useless person to kill when he was king, but now there's too many of useless NEETS. Too many people making a living doing useless shit like making ahegaos or playing games on twitch. Too many people enjoying luxuries in excess. Even the improvements are mostly in making people happy/comfy. Life too easy with "too many humans living the life of kings". Humans aren't growing or evolving.
In a way, Gil is trying to improve humanity by forcing them to fight for survival, removing the filth/weak, and therefore pushing humanity forward. Even if it's 1 in 100,000-500,000, it will be the strong and exceptional like Shirou who suvived. Those that survive will be the best and humanity will continue to struggle and evolve/grow again. Especially important since Notes already shows how the bleak future where humans fucked everything up and the other types are called in to wipe out the remaining humans.

TL;DR Gil was planning to use the grail to force human evolution. Chaotic good.

He has everything already user.
All the World's Evils and also all the Goods. He actually has even the grail in the Gate of Babylon.
Gil just doesn't care

Have to be at least 18 to post here and yet you don't understand what the world hero means...

Notes isn't the hardcanon future, Nasu was clear on this.

Actually they clarified he isn't immune to corruption.

Stuff like grail mud will still corrupt him like anyone else, it just takes longer.

So he took the final redpill? Nice.

Yes, originally it only summoned "good" heroes but then Angra Mainyiu happened and it all went to shit.

So they're all Megucas but the Fate Masters are Blue Mages actively capitalizing on that?

Your fanfics aren't canon gilfag.

It's the closest thing we have to go by. Nasu didn't say it was hardcanon nor did he assign it to a specific world/timeline, but the part about the types happens regardless. Gaia calls upon the types because humanity it outliving Earth. So humans will either go extinct or they'll have to fight the types in every timeline.

When that time comes humanity built on decedents of survivors like Rin/Shirou/Souichirou/Sakura will have better odds than the descents of plebs like Shinji.

This never happened. He can be corrupted but it takes far more than the 5 billion curses in Angra Mainyu's mud. It would need something like Tiamat.

>some village in bumblefuck nowhere sacrifices some schmuck as a scapegoat for all the evils of the world like plenty of other bumblefuck villages do
>somehow this symbolic act commited by this particular set of bumpkins actually DOES makes him into all the evils of the world

It did at first, but then Einzbern's being the biggest fuck ups decided to cheat and summon the origin of Satan/evil gods - Angra Mainyu and so when he died all the curses got mixed into the grail and that's why things like Medusa can be summoned as it grabs legendary souls including the heroes and monsters.

Also remember that it kinda stuffs the souls into a container it creates which is why Medusa is the gorgan monster in human form and not prerape and athena curse.

Wait a minute here you are leaving some shit out of it & he did have a redemption ark. Also 'Epic of Gilgamesh' is THE HERO'S journey. A literal fucking hero of all heroes. THE ARCHETYPE.

Gilgamesh in Fate is blatantly based on his personality at the beginning of the story, not the end.

Everything bad in the epic of gilgamesh that happens is directly or indirectly his fault though

also the part I skipped was where Enkidu learns how to fight since before he was basically an ape in the wild that they shaved and put a hat on, then him and Gil throw down and then they realize they're both cool guys and Gil spends his time having adventures instead of terrorizing his subjects (who otherwise can't stop him)

Later Ishtarin wants Gil's dick, but he hates that ho so he tells her "no way fag" so she, being the bitch she is and the archetype of bitches throughout history, goes and tells her daddy Anu, king of the gods, to unleash the Bull of Heaven to fuck Gil up

But then Gil and Enkidu use teamwork to defeat the Bull, and Ishtarin was spectating so Enkidu cuts the Bull's nuts off and throws them at her. This causes Enkidu to be cursed by the gods with a wasting sickness that eventually kills him, lamenting that Gil taught him how to be human and wishing he was still a crazy piece of shit wandering the forests.

In any case a lot of other stuff happens but basically Gil tries to become immortal by going to the land of the gods and stealing their shit, but ends up losing the vial containing special god juice when some asshole snake (possibly also a god) steals it while he's taking a bath

The moral of the story is do great deeds and enjoy life getting drunk and fucking hot chicks, don't try to be a better person or be immortal because you're gonna die anyway. But in Gil's time his city ruled all the others, so that's why he was the best.

Gil was trying to cuck Shirou the self-insert.
Of course this makes him the "bad guy".

Attached: 1553366553786.jpg (480x467, 45K)

Because he's popular with fujo- and otomeshits.

>The moral of the story is do great deeds and enjoy life getting drunk and fucking hot chicks
...

THE
BEST

So does Nasu just not account for Space travel or will the types sperg out if humans try to not have their souls bound by gravity?

Lately I find it weird that people seem to have an inverse amount of care relative to how much something actually matters.
>tried to kill billions? psssh, he didn't even succeed
>oh my god he committed rape and consumed some unwanted familyless humans, he's pure evil

Attached: cocktrice.png (340x142, 34K)

Most people do not react so much to killing millions for how exaggerated it is, seeing that there is no one who has directly killed a million people, obviously in the war there can be that number of casualties but usually there is not just a single culprit, while rape is something that happens millions of times every day worldwide

>hurr durr heroes never do bad things
>literally never read any of the heroic mythologies

It isn't just about scale though. When you observe western entertainment, their entire moral philosophy revolves around feelings rather than consequences. Violence is fine, sex is bad. Murder is worse than rape. Women are the victims of war. A child being injured is worse than running around killing innocents. Modern society is sick.

>while rape is something that happens millions of times every day worldwide
>millions of times every day worldwide
ROASTIES GTFO!!!
UNDERAGE KIDS BTFO!!!

Jesus.

If you look at the citizens of Uruk in the Babylonia Singularity, you can kind of see why Gil hates modern humans so much.

People fart rudely billions of times daily. Truly farting is humanity's greatest moral offense.

Yeah, they even have the callback about what he said about how the people live for the king and in return gil actually did mean it when he said there is no excess and made sure everyone in his kingdom contributes in some form. On that note, I know wada/nasu talks about ccc gil being a different character altogether, but I always felt like it's actually still consistent with fsn/fz gil: extra verse is a fucked up post apocalypse sort of future where indeed you have to be strong and determined to survive. So really, it's not strange that ccc gil is much less of a dick as those that remain in extra verse are ones who have proven their worth.

Types are the strongest being on each planet. Humans as a collective are technically "type-earth" and we've already achieved space travel. Other types like ORT are already powerful enough to travel through space with no issue.

Natural law dictates a planet can't die before it's living beings so humans on earth have to die before earth/gaia dies. Gaia nearing death requests the other types to put out the humans so it can stop suffering and die.

I thought that Gilgamesh telling Shinji about that story about the slaves was pretty indicative of just why he went the route that he did in UBW. It's basically all Shinji's fault. The idea that something like Shinji could survive and thrive proves that something went seriously wrong somewhere. Back in his era, someone like Shinji would have died years ago.

Incidentally, I wonder if Gilgamesh killed Zouken in UBW. They were at the Matou house so it seems like it'd be pretty likely. Zouken would be disgusting as fuck in Gilgamesh's eyes.

How badly will they fuck up Gil vs Tiamat in the anime?

Arthuria in Camelot
>Actually killed millions
>Tried to end the world
>Almost succeeded
>Genocided the middle east
>Doesn't regret it at all
>Had her knights all kill each other to harden their resolve
>Then had them bathe in the blood
>Her end plan is literally just nuking humanity and leaving behind a record that humanity existed
>Was one step away from succeeding

And people fucking love Arthuria and think she can do no wrong

People are hypocrites about good and evil in TM. Even Gilgamesh saved the world in Babylon and his people loved him.

To get it completely accurate, they'd have to have him spam Enuma Elish like a dozen times.

People only like Titoria because she has tits. They even made sure that the Titoria you summon isn't the Lion King so it's ok to like her.

Episode 0 didn't seem too bad. The derpy face is only in that short quick montage, mainly Orleans.

>killed and devoured the souls of dozens of orphans to survive
What? I thought he survived through the sheer size of his ego.

He wasn't corrupted by the Grail due to his ego.

After manifesting, he ate the kids who were orphaned by the fire in order to have extra mana. It's clarified that he didn't actually need to eat them to survive. Kirei set up an evil orphan murder basement, where Gil's food was kept, still alive but only barely, suffering for ten years. The protagonists find the basement in the VN (Fate route) and are properly horrified by it.

Grail grants wishes, what is funny is they tried to cheat and thought they could summon Angra Mainyu as Avenger leading to this hilarious situation.

Then again, we got best girl Rider out of it so worth it.

Hopefully Sakura's descendants inherit her magical trait, it's super effective against beings made from ether, which the Types are composed of. Plus the holodeck ability too (yes, Star Trek holodeck is what I mean), with the Imaginary Numbers ability of making a pocket dimension where time flows differently would be a great weapon. Who knew an ability that was originally meant to archive items would be perfect to fuck up supernatural creatures?

It is okay. She is properly protecting those with pure souls. The others can go to hell .

Poor Tiamat, she basically nerfed herself like three times over because she loved her children even though the rage, and is basically made retarded and they STILL needed to nerf her down even more to beat her.

Don't be dumb. Just because she has a sorcery trait that's a little effective against Ultimate Ones doesn't mean that someone with Imaginary Numbers could ever actually beat one. It's like a Level 1 Charmander trying to beat a Level 100 Venusaur. In order to beat an Ultimate One, you'd need a true rule-breaking weapon like Atlas's seven super-weapons, a giant stick the size of twenty or thirty Eiffel Towers stacked on top of one another or multiple users of magic. Trying to beat an Ultimate One with Imaginary Numbers would be like trying to use a match to melt the polar ice caps. Well, maybe Kama might be able to do it, who knows.

Besides, Sakura ain't gonna be training any magi.

>Murder is worse than rape

Not according to feminists.

>literal tertiaries trying to argue over something they never read
