Doubutsu no Kuni is getting a new figure and a reprint with new covers years after it ended. Gash Bell is getting reprints too.
I don't know why. Maybe to promote the gacha game?

NEW ANIME
did they both want to fuck Kiyo
It's uncommon for mildly popular manga to get reprints in Japan in different formats and new covers over the years, publishers always plan to reignite reader interest if they think it is worth.
In Kojinki no Gash's case though it may have to do with a legal dispute the author had with his publisher years ago, he wanted to leave and take the series full rights with him, no commitments, maybe this new print is a development of this issue.
I actually saw this last year, it was a digital only thing that even includes "gash cafe" new chapters.
Seems like it sold well so they decided to print it too
Shit, I mean it's not uncommon.
I assumed it's a gacha game, but honestly it could be anything.
You missing the "Kraken Comics" label in the covers, user? This is definitely a new publisher, so it is development of the author being fucking pissed at Shogakukan and wanting to leave, but on friendly terms by leaving any vestige of his creations there like some authors do, he wanted out and wanted to clean house, taking all rights ownership with him.
Why do you think Shogakukan never had Gash appear in any promo of theirs in later years and even that crossover fighting game year ago despite Gash being a very popular manga of theirs in the past?
No, the demon wanted Gash.
Volcan 300 public execution
Gash was a pretty good action shounen for its time, shame it never reached true internarional fame, the anime was brought over butchered to the point it was never finished, the manga's license was also dropped after 25 volumes. The author and publisher's dispute also put a halt in any true new deals the series might've have.
absolute chad
cute
I didn’t know that they never finished publishing it in english, that’s lame
>The author and publisher's dispute
What was that anyway? Never got the full story and it's pretty hard to search about it, too.
When Makoto finished Gash, like an author who cares about his original art does, he asked for all original material given to Shogakukan for print over the years (color covers, promo art, etc.), Makoto claimed however that the publisher did not give him all material he requested, saying missing color arts and the like, Shogakukan obviously said nothing was missing, that sparked the legal dispute, Makoto sued Shogakukan for about 3 million yen (not much really).
That left their relationship pretty sour, Makoto later made his series elsewhere and wanted a new home for Gash, this mess started in 2008, eleven years ago now, now with this new print for Gash it is obvious Makoto fully took the rights away from Shogakukan.
Maybe the reprints spark interest again and the anime gets a Brotherhood treatment. This probably wont happen but one can only hope.
Any translations for the Gash Cafe stuff out there?
Gash Bell: Brotherhood when?
Imagine how much they will cut.
Boy this manga was depressing
I was crying my eyes out, that moment where everything was fine and than the mother dies >_
Hopefully that means it a new anime run. It deserves one.
Are these new volume covers too? They give away spoilers to spells not yet unlocked.
So, tell me Yea Forumsnons, whats cooler, a hippo or a lion?
I wanted the tiger to meet the lions or the panther but instead he died against some retarded fag
Also the
>it is impossible to clone humans, also this guy with a human's brain but a not-human body doesn't count as human
memery was kind of annoying. It was also annoying that ape-girl got cucked and had to settle for that weird guy.
There were some scenes earlier on in the series that made it seem like Tia had some sort of crush on Kiyomaro too but by the end she was definitely into Gash
>author of negima cucks out and ends his story
>author of meme bell sues his boss because Fuck Those Guys
Too bad he's got liver problems and will probably die
Gash Bell sequel when?
I like that Gash doesn’t try to go a different direction as a shounen, it just tries to be the best fucking shounen it can be with all the shitty cliche tropes shounen is known for.
You could even so far as to call it Boomer Shounen, if you will.
I remember that story time back in 2016.
sada
please do user, just make suyre you are reading the manga and not watching the bad anime adaption
the OST for the anime is good though, there';s a set of videos that edits the anime panels set to the anime OST in this rar: drive.google.com
Yes, not sure it's public tho yet.
It was fun but christ it was a pain for me to dump images for 4 hours every day
>It was fun but christ it was a pain for me to dump images for 4 hours every day
what a beast
I ended up giving in and just buying a Yea Forums pass so I would have less cooldown between posts around volume 20 or so
should have done it earlier
bump
The new covers look fucking amazing. I really hope they get localized versions in America.
my least favorite part about the ending was
>You know, maybe the minimum sustainable population won't even be a thing!
The invincible iron chad, Folgore.
Folgore could say that a roach was the coolest animal and I'd buy it.
Hippochads for life
>all these plebs posting low res versions
give me a bit and i'll make a rar with fuckhuge ones like this
I think research into space colonization indicates that 80 people, with carefully managed mixing, is the minimum number of people to ensure enough permutations to avoid inbreeding.
so we'll get extra pages?
that line was pretty boss. makoto must watch animal planet too
user was right the covers spoils new spells but I think that thats only in hindsight
yes please
their eye colors were denoting their lightning colors the whole time
bumping for this
sorry got distracted, will do so in the next 10-20 mins
thanks for your work
What would be a good studio for a Gash Bell reboot?
Aside from ending it an arc early and a few little changes to the arc it ended on in general, like leaving out that power Kiyomaru gets, was there a lot of changes?
at this point? im happy with anything as long as its average or above
I'm not entirely sure if the Very Melon song was in the manga. And if it was they only sang it once.
"A few little changes" is understating it, the entire plot diverges after they re-enter faudo.
anyways, even before then there's tons of filler, not even just episodes/arcs but baked into canon episodes. Also it just doesn't do the manga's tone justice. The manga shifts between super lighthearted, cheesey power of friendship and comedy to big, dark emotional punches to the gut and that contrast helps both work better.
The entire anime, even during the "dark" moments, feels like it's tonally aiming for the lighter stuff.
>spoiler dioga level Baou
not bad actually
>Tio in volume 2 when she first appears in volume 4
Very cool, subtle even
>Wonrei in volume 4 when his first appareance is in volume 7
Maximum cute
I wish I could play this
Ultra cute, too bad he ends up being a jobber
Nice
Nice, but why is Zeon in the cover for a volume in the middle of the millenium demons' arc
I think these are kanzenban, so it's ok
very melon was just an omake iirc
>tons of filler
>two entire filler arcs, one of which (Maestro) literally contradicts the canon
>although you could argue it looks better than the first part of the manga, you can't compare how good the manga looks since the second part to how the anime looks
>Half of Faudo arc TOTALLY butchered
>No winner since no final arc (not even a hardcore fan of the final arc)
...
fuck, I miss Folgore
You can skip the problem entirely with genetic manipulation
Can we expect Raiku to ever make another manga?
Just rip them in mdex. I uploaded them myself a long time ago.
These rereleases feel like a way to rebound after he axed Vector Ball.
I sure hope so, he's a great mangaka and his emotional whiplash style is hard to find anywhere. I feel like even Vector Ball had the potential to be good if he planned better and knew what he wanted to do with it
here
drive.google.com
Each volume has more chapters, there's 16 volumes total, see the link
mdex?
also if you are implying you ripped the digital volumes, I got the high res covers from storefronts and twitter/raiku's site using URL fuckery, I don't have the volumes myself.
Can you link to the rips, then? I'd like to have the gash cafe chapters and color pages
or is it a private tracker/community?
Which isn't advanced enough yet to be understood, as far as I know clones still breakdown easily
I don't enjoy very many battle shonen anymore, but whenever I do Toei always manages to pick it the fuck up and do this shit. It needs to stop.
Nah, I only meant the covers. They're ripped from bookwalker.
thank you
Can you check the drive folder I linked and see if you have any at higher quality levels then what I got?
Not all of mine are the same quality or resolution
mangadex.org
Compare them yourself. I can't at the moment. mobile
>mangadex
does that compress uploads at all?
Pretty sure it doesn't
For what purpose? It had a perfect closure.
Why? The claim is that the pages were lost upon return, not when sending them to print. Gash had no missing pages from publication, the author claims he didn't get some of his original work back.
Gash Bell was when I became a mangafag. I remember being so fucking frustrated at the anime's ending. All those episodes for no winner was total horseshit. I'd love to see it get the HxH or Jojo treatment and get another adaption. Hopefully that one would be totally faithful to it and help people realize how much this series got slept on because of its bad anime back in the day.
What was her problem?
Fuck, I thought it was just a hiatus.
Is gash bell worth to watch?
Watch, maybe not. Read, yes
>Watch
No, anime adaption is shit, and I'm normally somebody who prefers anime
>Read
Yes, absolutely, though keep in mind it starts out sort of rough: you don't really see strategy in fights till volume 5, and even then it's not super strategic, with fights gradually getting more tactical and often including more characters fighting as teams over the next few volumes. Volume 12 is a major shift when it goes from villain of the week to arc based.
That's not to say all first 12 volumes are bad, tbhey just aren't as good as what follows, and on the flip side after that the manga only ever gets better and never bloats out with plot/pacing issues or dumb powerscaling, unlike other shonen with spiral into a mess the longer on they get.
>Gash Bell was when I became a mangafag
Same here, the original Toonami block slowly dying was what motivated me to see if a lot of those shows had actual endings. Reading that final arc as it was getting scanlated was a blast.

Is there still any hope they relase the full gash manga in the west?
Only the Victoreem episodes
That was a while back though
He's just been posting random stuff on twitter for months now
Excited for the gatcha game.
Will it get translated?
I miss Gash.
KINO
>anime had an all-star VA casting
>writers and directors completely fuck the whole anime up
why
This spell actually worked on the final boss, holy shit, I love this manga.

Jesus, was that 3 years ago now? I could've sworn it was just last year.
Best girls
>Jesus, was that 3 years ago now? I could've sworn it was just last year.
Same, the years really are just flying by.
Thanks user, you made me enjoy myself a whole lot.
Are there any plans for an English release?
Fucking Viz and their bullshit.
These two fucked, right?
With the force of a thousand suns
I felt like it was last year too. Damn, good times.
Something about Gash I could never quite wrap my head around is the King's Battle really only involving 100 participants. It made me wonder what all of the other kids had been doing up until then, or if any kids died off screen?
Weren't they all either the prominent spawn of nobility or just showed immense promise through strength or ability power. The common plebs would never stand a chance. Specifically 100 participants was just the traditional rule of the battle.
That's not what bothers me. It's how long the battle takes to resolve that bothers me. With only 100 participants, how often do battles take place outside of the ones that we see? How are people developing their spells? Do they not all start with one like Gash?
It would have been a lot easier for me to swallow if they had said something like, "Around this time, there are only 100 participants left," because it implies a lot of them were subtracted while Gash was fucking around as an amnesiac and also offscreen.
I don't think time is an issue since it's not like they needed a new king right away, and if it was then it should've been brought up. As for offscreen battles there isn't enough time to show all of them without stretching out the story even longer than it was.
>2016
WHAT
Should i watch the anime or read the manga? I usually prefer reading manga but I watched some clips of Gash Bell on youtube and the music and voice acting seems really solid. Is the manga just as good?
If you haven't taken a hint from the thread yet, the manga is superior. Lower your expectations if you want to give the anime a shot.
Did I mention the anime was made by Toei yet?
The manga is simply better, the anime had too many filler with funny antics, the manga's comedy was given in dosages that were soon subverted into serious impactful scenes, also the anime had to deviate from the manga after a while despite being a long adaptation, the events the anime tried to rush in were inferior to the manga's.
The anime is good just to see the comedy parts in motion.
Story time, some user made threads to ignite interest in the series by posting all manga volumes over a few weeks.
>Maybe to promote the gacha game?
Zatch Bell is getting a gacha game
People say it's not worth a watch but I found the dub pretty enjoyable compared to the subs.
A lot of the voices fit characters IMO and the VA's throwing out great performances. The only negative is since it was aimed towards kids in the US it would have some censorship.
Though I will also agree with everyone that you should read the series as well
The final villain was so forgetable, but summoning all the kids one by one for the fight was the best shit ever.
I will never forget what an overpowered piece of shit the final villain was.
>that spell doesn't look too bad
>well shit
can we get another story time :(
Absolutely kino
I'd kill for it, I don't even care if it's good

best boy
Well, until Gash found Kiyomaro and started fighting it's implied most mamodos were also busy looking for their partners and for mamodos to fight. Brago for example seems to think the mamodo battle is just starting after Gash defeats Reicom. Then the top 40 (we know almost all of them) probably fought while developing spells while Gash was... well, doing the same thing. There are like 40 mamodos of the first 60 eliminated that we don't know of. Then, while Gash was busy with the Ancient Mamodos, Leo recruited most of the (strong) remaining mamodos, while Clear and Ashuron were fooling around against each other.
There's also this little problem that we don't really know how "remembering" and "learning" spells works. Zeon and Brago probably already had their dioga spells in the mamodo world (though Brago didn't had his shin spells it seems), so they just had to fight a little to unlock them (Zeon may not even had to do that since Dufaux has superpowers and all). On the other hand it's hard to believe Tio, Umagon and Kanchome (or Gash for that matter) had most of their spells in the mamodo world, since they, well, don't even know how they work. But if they are just remembering them then that explains why some might need less experience for developing stronger spells. Also spells aren't just the result of battle, but also bonding with their partners or just outright needing a particular spell (like Raunzaruk).
In relation to this, since Faudo is so strong it's sealed and it needs 12 (?) dioga level spells to come unsealed, I'm inclined to believe most mamodos in the mamodo world don't even reach dioga level spells. So maybe sending them to the human world serves as a way of having a generation of strong demons, since a lot ended up learning dioga level spells. Just maybe.
(cont)
But anyways, we know Brago battled, we know Bari battled, we know Wonrei battled, we know Patty battled, we know Kid battled, we know Ropes battled (and didn't burn books), we know Momon never battled, and we know more or less who the main cast battled and how they learnt their spells. The Faudo mamodos probably battled against the first 60 eliminated that we don't know and/or just learnt their spells by bonding or some shit. Or maybe they even fought against each other and got stronger (like it seems it happened with Clear Note and Ashuron, who were busy fighting against each other). Then we freaks like Zofis or Gorm, who probably didn't battle much. But they're freaks so it doesn't matter.
whoops fell asleep, here
filedropper DOT com SLASH gashcafefulltranscript
It's directly stated a few times IIRC that there's a selection process, so presumbly only a limited number of the demon world's childern participated, which is why there's only 100
These two have the best story arc in the manga.
they also fucked
the real question is did the baby count when they removed all the effects the battle had on the human world
That's not Ted and Cherish or Lori and Kolulu
I want to force her to say "Unko Tin Tin".
no, and his descendant is going to be the MC of the sequel
>shots don't work
>fire the cannon itself
>still doesn't work
>launch the fucking missile platform itself
This was a great spell
The golden book is the greatest asspull of all time.
It’s shamelessly my favorite shonen asspull too. I’ve re-read that golden book part of the fight so many times.
>literally punches the piece of shit’s arm away
Good shit.
man...
the dude seems to be having a tough time, fallout with publishers and all that and just generally not being successful with his newer stuff
hope he's still making money off of Animal Land and Gash
I've been thinking of doing something like that but for some reason I've got the impression that large scale storytimes like that are frowned on
Naw, everyone loved it. Someone did it for World Trigger when the hiatus ended, too
Well then maybe I'll start when I get home.
It won't be Gash but I have two or three other series I think could be fun.
Thanks much user.
I wonder if Umagon changed his mind on that when he got the chance to send the letter
They aren’t, but you need to be consistent with the dump schedule. And if you pick a series that’s too obscure then it’ll just fall into the archives before the dump is over.
What a fucking Hippo
Who's the Skeet of Gash Bell?
Ted
Zatch>Gash
>That reread one awesome user took us through a few years ago
>Getting to this part in thread
Folgore will always be best boy and this shit was kino as fuck. I miss those threads anyone got the Yea Forums popularity chart we had after. I was always happy Suzume was so popular.
I think they technically did if you're a frog.
For my dubfags
It might be a giant asspull but fuck if it wasn't amazing and cathartic as fuck.
Toei ruins everything.
Well I can tell you this one was really well received. It kinda just became an event on Yea Forums for a while. And was a great way to introduce an awesome series to people who wouldn't have read it.
Gash story time was a great fucking time on Yea Forums.
I finally got people to talk about Gash with.
Fucking do it please, I need to talk to people about Zatch/Gash
>Reading Wonrei's death in crispy new reprints
no don't hurt me again
Universal Yea Forums opinion of Gash went up from it, was cool to see
Well think about it, all 100 children were scatteted hroughout Earth. The story takes place before the era of smartphones and imagine how long it might take for a demon child to just find their partner without normal means of transportation. Then after those 100 kids find their partners, those duos have to find other duos to fight, who may or may not be in the same city, country, or continent. The fight seemed to have ended within 3ish years (Gash lost his memories not long after getting to Earth then was sent to 1st year Kiyomaro, and the final battle ended before Kiyomaro's high school graduation). That seems like a reasonable timespan for a battle royale spread across the planet with 100 participants.
Honestly just reading along with Yea Forums was great and seeing everyone reacting to all the great moments was really fun. Reading manga is usually a personal thing so being able to lose your shit over things with other people who are all over the world reading along with you is a nice change. It helps that Gash Bell is so damn enjoyable.
This is unironically my favorite shonen. I don't usually read much shonen but something about this being so honest and pure unadultered shonen cliches was great.
Did the karakuri circus scanlations finish? I remember watching a bit of the anime and realizing how blatant it is that Raiku used to be Fujita´s assistant
Nope
Also Yellow Tanabe was Makoto's assistant and you can see it in some of her illustrations
I wanted them to win honestly, they were so underpowered compared to end-of-series Kiyomaro & Gash
Its one of the better fights in all of shonen. Because even thought they're the last two pairs, Brago was so outclass he basically became the underdog hero at that point.
Still loved that scene in the manga where he told the kid to stop crying, and get strong so that he can protect himself, with Shirley thinking to herself about how his personality is that of lonely but gentle king.
youtube.com
On the subject of the Gash anime's music, anybody ever just randomly get the Patie song stuck in their head out of nowhere? Just me?
Brago was based but he would have been a shit king imo. Gash had to suffer and bite and crawl to the top
guy who dumped gash the first time here, I thought of dumping Animal Land a few times, which would be fun since I've never read it myself so it'd be new to me too, but I just cannot commit to doing it with how much stuff I have going on.
I said it won't be Gash tonight, but I am open to doing Gash later.
Slow releases
made by some fucking dude who went on to make music for the marvel series
never give up on your dreams
God, I really hope someone licenses this edition for an english release. I was hoping Kodansha, but I guess they aren't releasing this one.
I always really liked that part where Ted took on a high level spell raw just to prove to Cherish that he's always kept his eyes on her
