In the anime it just cuts to them in front of the plane and it fucks up the pacing, cause they're suddenly there. It's just a retarded decision because they want to squeeze as much action into the episodes.
The last scene in the Pesci battle was the ultimate buildup to the ariari. He tricks Bruno into thinking he's going to smash the turtle, when in reality he goes inside and starts strangling the gang. It's another retarded decision because it literally would last only twenty seconds so it's not as if its a matter of time.
DP is just a mediocre studio, though I heard a rumor they're getting a couple people who used to work at SHAFT studio so hopefully Stone ocean and the parts after it will be better.

I did listen to the final fight with dio dubbed on youtube. They did a really good job. I think the way dio says he world in english in the ova is easily the best version.
They also kept the same frozen time voice effects in the dub, which was a nice touch (whenever they freeze time they added some slight reverb to it and changed a few settings)
