i remember thinking when it was a sesshomaru episode, i knew it was a good one.

I just started replaying the PS1 game and forgot how bad I suck at fighters. Sango's pretty great though, satisfying to use her chainhook thing and throw opponents around like ragdolls. Finally I can live my dream of seeing Sango beat the everloving shit out of Kagome.

Sango was extremely under-utilized in the series, it's like Rumiko needed to nerf her hard so she used the entire Kohaku shit to have her be mentally weak to not outshine Kagome.

Kagome is not. She has no faults, and her biggest sin is that she's not even a very useful character for the setting she's in.

Kikyo's second death wasn't sad because she leaving the world -- it was sad because she realized that she wasted her partially living existence.

Kikyo wanted to die again. As a priestess, she understood the monumental sin of her existence, and yet she committed further sins to remain "alive" by harvesting the souls of women. Why did Kikyo insist on turning into a grey priestess? Because she was obsessed with revenge upon Naraku and Inuyasha.
Kikyo never succeeded in making a dent on Naraku's plans.
Somewhere along her journey, Kikyo understood that Inuyasha had done nothing wrong, but still she persisted holding onto bitterness.
As Kikyo died in Inuyasha arms, the weight of all her failures struck her like a hammer. She had wasted this second chance at existence to find happiness before peacefully drifting behind the veil to await Inuyasha's eventual arrival.
When she realized what she had forsaken, she began to cry. Her tears were devastating.

And all this is only part of the sadness. Think of the entire context. Inuyasha, Kagome, Sango, and Kohaku also bear the cost of Kikyo's death; they will forever ask, "what if?"

Ironically her resurrection also granted her with the possibility to live free of the jewel duty, but of course as much as her existence would let her.
That's why the whole "Free to love free to hate" She can finally feel everything she couldn't before because the duty forced her to suppress all of her emotions.
BUT, this is Kikyo we're talking about and in the end she still couldn't help but stay true to her role as a priestess. She couldn't entirely forsaken it like she thought. So she still helped everyone in her path while being as formal as she could, just like before.
In the end when she dies in Inuyasha's arms she just accepts that no one could bring her back to life, and that although she wanted to try and live a little longer, she can't. Her existence is false, after all. So she regrets not being able to at least continue living, but she also accepts that nothing can be done about it like the wise person she is.

In life, Kikyo's final act was to break free of her constraints on emotion. It killed her.

I've read the manga. She fiddled around, and maybe I'm forgetting something, but I'm pretty sure she only ended up foiling a few plots. Her actions only transitively affected Naraku's death by giving the dream team more time to find themselves and grow stronger. In the end, Naraku was stronger than ever before, and Kikyo's efforts did nothing to directly cause his demise.

Please, please go educate yourself, read the manga, refresh your memory before you so confidently try to "analyze" a character you dont understand at all.
I'll just say this:
The free to love free to hate, means that she can now love Inuyasha, and hate Naraku. The bitterness was mostly gone after Kaede told her that Naraku was responsible for her death, she pulled her shit together and focused on killing him while trying to make the best of what she got.
What she really let go of later on was her unhealthy attachment to Inuyasha by deciding to keep away from him, for his and Kagome's sake.
And what killed her in her second life was Rumiko's bad writing that makes no sense and decided that she suddenly needs to grow weaker for no apparent reason even after Kagome supposedly "healed" her.
