That is borderline retarded. He has a ready solution on his hands - make Nazarick antagonists of the series. I don't understand what is wrong with that and why does he seem to avoid that. Like... yeah they are overpowered but one of the best moments in his book is HUMANITY FUCK YEAH moments where puny humans and lizards show some spacemarine resolve and lose life and limb to land a punch.

Yes. It missed it's chance to be good after Ainz took the capital in the war. It spent a long time hyping up his power and establishing himself as a top tier ancient lich, and also spent a decent amount of time hyping up his underlings as being incredibly powerful as well. They should have brought in a pure warrior from out of nowhere to kill one of his underlings, maybe demiurge or Sebas, to show how strong the new guy was, and let that be the driving force of the series from that point onward. Would have been way more interesting and fun to read.
Instead we got more of the same isekai power wanking that's been going on forever. Ainz is a badass, his underlings are badasses, no one can stop ainz or even come close to his power. So how is this entertaining? Simply put, it's not. I imagine the only people who are reading right now are the people who are too invested in the story to stop; the people who have been reading since the early chapters.

I'm actually pissed off that Maruyama doesn't have any grand plan to finish this story. Because from my perspective there was a very clear character arc that Ainz was going through, and thus a very logical progression and conclusion to the story. I thought this was intentional and was a reflection of Maruyama's skill as an author. However after reading the spinoff novel and seeing how he keeps adding filler instead of heading anywhere, I'm beginning to think I was reading too much into it. Overlord story is shaping up to be as shallow as a puddle and he's just making shit up as he goes along. At this rate the series is going to end with Ainz being the exact same person at the end as he was in the beginning, just with more dead dragon lords. Fuck this shit.

I think he killed a lot of goodwill with people over in the west when he went on that little rant. Fan translations exist for a reason and if the LNs weren't being translated at a glacial pace then most people probably wouldn't even read the fan translations.
