It's getting harder to enjoy anime and manga as I grow older. All of the protagonists are so much younger than me. Nobody wants to write a manga about a protagonist in his 30s.

In my 20s, I enjoyed manga with protagonists in their 20s. Now, if I try to re-read these manga, I just feel envious of the characters for being younger than me, and think about everything I should have done differently in my 20s.

Does anyone else feel this way? Is it just going to get more painful with the passage of time, like everything else does?

Wait until you're 40 buddy you'll love it :)

Unironically, you should consider suicide. Or at least try to turn your life around because you sound miserable, abandon this hobby and pick up something with lots of social interaction.

Start reading salary man manga.

What are some good ones?

>Kill yourself
>Turn your life around

Weird advice. Which is it? Pick one.

You have two options. Either stop reading manga altogether, or do what most of us do and read manga featuring only little girls.

Get used to enjoying anime and manga that you can't directly relate to. The themes and your past experiences should make it worth while. If you can't do that then just read nothing but Golgo 13 or historical manga.

Why can't you relate? You were young once in your life. It wasn't that long ago I bet. I'm 30 and still can relate to people 20 years my junior. Call me a fuck up if you must, but I haven't forgotten what it's like to be younger. Though my life hasn't changed much...

Epic blog, where can I subscribe?

>six gorillionth "DAE THINK ANIME IS SHIIIIIIIIIT NOW????" thread
Jesus Christ. Just leave. Do something else. No one is forcing you to watch japanese cartoons and make retarded generalizations about them. You can go do something you like. If you literally don't like anything you can kill yourself.
>what no one can criticize your precious nippon anime huh????
Retarded ignorant screeching about how EVERYTHING SUCKS DUDE is not criticism, it's shitposting.

You posted it again

Either one is fine, just don't continue living your life this miserably.

Then lets make this good thread.
Why doesn't anime have more adult main characters? Manga doesn't have this issue nearly as much as anime does.

Have sex and have a baby retard.

Anime crashed several years back.

Kengan Asura. Protag in that is a fifty year old man with two kids.

>Why doesn't anime have more adult main characters?
Because even late night anime is aimed at like 16 year olds. Or horny 20+ year olds that just want to see naked teenagers. Anime takes more money and manpower to make and so tend to be aimed at the group that will make them the most money. A 30 year old probably isn't going to bother watching some bottom of the barrel ecchi show airing at 1:30 in the morning. Manga magazines are cheap and easier to read in public and whenever you want. And tend to have more variety since they're cheaper to make and there's more places for running manga than on TV for airing anime.

Teenagers don't want to watch anime with old farts, and the old farts want escapism from their shitty corporate drone life so they watch cute girls doing cute things.

You're just insecure, and the worst part of it is you're insecure about drawings on paper. Thats pathetic user.

I mean, there are some series with older casts, they're just not as common.

Why is it that kids have absolutely no issue with watching shit that has adults in it and are capable of inserting into those characters yet we have people like OP who is incapable of digesting any form of literature unless the MC is the same age as him?

Yeah, I'm reading it right now - but Kazuo isn't really the protagonist. He doesn't actually do anything. He just watches Ohma fight. The manga is clearly about Ohma, not Kazuo.

If you google "Kenran Ashura Protagonist" you have to scroll down for a long time before you even find a picture of Kazuo.

When I was a kid and watched an anime with a cool adult character, I thought, "Wow, maybe I could grow up to be like him one day!"

But now that I am an old fart, I look at cool adult characters and think, "Shit, I lost my chance to develop into that guy."

kids like inserting as adults because they look up to them and want to also be an adult

MC is a man-child who can't self-insert as a person younger than them because those characters reminds him that he hasn't grown up at all and so he instead wishes to self-insert as a capable person of the same age to simulate what it feels like to be an accomplished human being.

That's what you get for being a self insert fag in the first place.

Kids usually want to see adults in their fiction, not fellow kids.

Ask people on Yea Forums if they feel this way about movies.

This bothers me when I watch movies, too.

I've turned 25 recently. I've noticed I've just more critical but I can still enjoy certain things.

I'm 30 and have no problem at all reading manga about preteen girls. Is this a sign of autism something that suggests I don't have autism?
