Rui rejecting Kajita was at this point was already predicted, even by Hinafags. its no surprise at all because she still has feelings for Natsuo, but i get the feeling this 'rejection' is the same fashion that Hina initially rejected Natsuo, in that she does have feelings but for her own reasons, rejects him, only to end up with him later.

If the spoilers are right then she rejects Kajita, not so much that she wants to be with Natsuo, but because she thinks her love of Natsuo has made her a different person, and she thinks this face of hers is what Kajita is in love with. Kinda stems back to her lack of confidence in herself.

But also, it agitates me that she has the balls to use the "the me you love is because i love another person" excuse.
The whole reason Rui "wont hold back for Hinas sake" was because of Natsuos love for Hina and feeling all that love when Natsuo mistook Rui in a wig for Hina.
By that same standard, Rui should never of fallen for Natsuo since the Natsuo she "refused to hold back for Hinas sake" was the Natsuo that was in Love with Hina. Even when Rui was falling in love with Natsuo before, it was a Natsuo that was in Love with Hina, and it was because of his love for Hina that Natsuo slept with Rui to begin with, which is what cause Rui to fall for him when they had more contact afterwards.

So either Ruis Reason is incredibly shit since she fell for the persona of someone who was already in love, or its a mistranslation.

We know what he did for her but what exactly did she do for him? In turn she wants something to show her own growth to him which was trying to win the contest so that when she returns they'll be equals in accomplishments n life growth as adults to try and continue together.

non existent right now. the only thing we have to link the two is that both have a motorcycle license and both like oranges/mandarins. For Kajita to fall for a side character is entirelt possible since we dont see their developments as it is, so making him be with someone random out of nowhere fits the role of a side character.
But with Hina? not a chance. as a main heroine we've seen too much of her development and person. that sort of character needs the time end development to fall for another character and so far, only Rui has that sort of interactions with Kajita. at this point in the story, its far too late for Kajita or Hina, and would make no sense since Hina is too deeply in love with Natsuo, and Kajita is still pining for Rui. such a twist would come out of nowhere and make literally no sense.

When it comes to story telling, making a development to "defy expectations" is an extreamly dumb move and ruins the re reading potential of the story since nothing is there to suggest the twist, which defeats the purposes of what the story has been building up.

i actually thought the same thing a while ago. then i realized that even Sasuga wont ruin a good story to 'defy expectations'. if anything her work always pays off with the building of whats going to happen.

I still think that Rui was following her normal pattern of lashing out when things don't go her way.
- She was punishing him for not listening to her and staying away from Miyabi.
- She has certain expectations about that relationship and when reality shows it to be different, ie him talking to Miyabi about his problems instead of her, the parents talking about Hina with Natsuo at the hospital, the old people, she goes running and leaves him by himself.
- She knew how long it took for him to get over Hina for she'd be pretty confident of being able to convince him to start up again.
- I feel Al may come at a bad moment for Hina and Natsuo and say that Rui is open to getting back together.
Sasuga went out of her way to show that Rui has changed. I think that there is definitely going to be a testing period to see if the change is genuine.

I have that theory too. That Natsuo and Hina have a night of passion, either because of alcohol or they just cant keep their emotions in check anymore. It will also be revealed to be the first time Natsuo has sex without a condom.

Natsuo and Hina try to play it off, making excuses because neither knows they both love each other. Then Rui comes back. As Hina tries to keep her distance she realizes she's pregnant and is troubled over what to do, only for Natsuo to of already of found the rings and wanting to get back together with her.

but yes, Hina always has been the catalyst for Natsuos writing achievements and his greatest supporter. since she's holding onto the dream for him its clearer just how vital she always has been to his success and happiness.

Natsuo, on the other hand, has no clear signs of having feelings for Rui. if you read the phone call between them, it comes off as an everyday phone call between two close friends, and Natsuo seems more happy that Rui is doing well and succeeding in life than having any feelings to get back together with her.

Even with Miyabi, Natsuo didnt reject Miyabi for Rui like Rui rejecting Kajita for Natsuo. Rui wasnt a factor at all and even when Miyabi brought up the 'first time' question, Natsuo dismissed it quickly than having any longing or desire from it.

Also, Misaki arc ended with Natsuo declaring he will move on from Rui and Writing. He failed to move on from Writing because of Hina holding it for him, but so far he dosnt seem to have any longing or feelings for Rui that isnt platonic.

Also, while Rui made her jealousy clear with Natsuo, whenever Natsuo wanted to talk to Rui about his own jealosy with Kajita, Rui would willingly ignore it and push it aside. only for it to boil up at the end. the jealousy was Ruis fault and reflects the consequences of avoiding issues Natsuo wanted to talk about.

What also pisses me off about Rui Rejecting Kajita is that she shows more caring and kindness to him when he departs than she ever did with Natsuo when they broke up. She never called him, never told anyone to keep an eye on him, never so much as sent him a gift, a letter or something. - To me, it came across as a cycle. He put his career first. He would lie to her about leaving the wife then when he doesn't, she bottled it up and drank until she passed out. When Nat told him that she cried, Shuu was surprised. I don't think however, it was a case of her never believing - it came down to her realising that he would not leave the wife and every time he lied he was killing the love she had for him.

We know that Hina likes drinking and drinking well is considered a skill in many Asian countries but she was drinking heavily to dull her pain over Shuu and she'd drink til she passed out. I see a correlation here - the heavy drinking stops when she breaks up with Shuu and starts again with she is in pain over the breakup with Natsuo. Then she pulls herself together and stops drinking like that. Later, when she gets drunk, it was due to things that were out of her control.
