Is the manga worth reading if I liked the anime? I hear it's controversial
Is the manga worth reading if I liked the anime? I hear it's controversial
Skip to the school trip arc
No, it turns into cheap yuritrash and loses all soul it had.
God damn it there are already two active Watamote threads we don't need a third.
Do the exact opposite of this
yurishit skip it
If you enjoyed the suffering in the anime, don't expect any in the later chapters. There is basically none.
Its getting stale and repetitive to be honest.
Absolutely, it's great pretty much all the way through, don't skip anything.
It stops being what it was at the beginning, for better or worse.
There's suffering, just not for Tomoko.
Yeah, make sure to read the spin-off too.
Stay in your containment thread faggots, don't waste OP's time
what did you make me read!?
I'll need a quick rundown of the story/character development
Doesn't she start going to actual fucking parties with her friends at the end?
Good times. Too bad that Watamote died a long time ago...
She goes to some bbq with the class at the end of second year, she still has her limits though, she rejected going to the karaoke afterwards.
this school trip... allready hinting at it...
is it worth it?
She gets a shit ton of friends and basically nothing funny happens anymore, it's just drama between a bunch of new characters. It barely focuses on Tomoko anymore, because there's so many new characters.
Best to just end at the anime
Yes. The school trip was the part.
Is this referencing something?
*best part
Best girl
Read up to Disneyland. Read beyond that if you want, but everything from the school trip to Disneyland is the good stuff.
It's shit.
biggest lie ever
Read up to until a character named Asuka starts getting more appearances. Not because Asuka is terrible (though she is) but because that's when the manga starts to get boring as hell.
it got boring as soon as uchi and the other girls started having more appearances,
Nah, Ucchi was funny and interesting. I seriously predict that with the sleepover and road trip then college this manga will become great again. We're in the dark age right now for sure.
>I hear it's controversial
I hate you and your kind so very much.
>then college
You think it'll keep going past high school?
she fell in love with a girl and the manga shows the struggles of forbidden love in modern Japan.
I think they will keep it going with Tomoko and Yuri and some others in college but also start a Nemo seiyuu spinoff manga hoping it will take off and they don't need to feed off Watamote's corpse forever.
2nd season when
Never
Ucchi fell in love, Tomoko is barely aware of her existence.
Anime shows Tomokos desperate struggle to make friends, become popular etc.
Aside from that girl in a mascot costume who hugged her, there was no progress.
Starting the manga where the anime finished off, this goes on for a while until a school trip where Tomoko is forced to be in a small travel group of 3 other girls: A delinquent, a Normie Emoji and the calm one (who later turns out to be a pessimistic loner).
Some shenanigans happen, theyre aquainted.
More manga chapters later, a new Normie girl makes the first moves of friendship with Tomoko because they are seated next to eachother.
Tomoko then befriends the school trip group girls (except Normie Emoji).
This friend group becomes noticable to other girls, who get interested in Tomoko and befriend her for their own reasons. This leads to even more new girls noticing Tomokos popularity and becoming friends with her etc.
50% of the people on Yea Forums are mad that Tomoko didnt stay an awkward loner and got character and plot development.
A vocal minority of the current Watamote manga readers on Yea Forums ship Tomoko into a yuri relationship with her friends and fight over which friend is best suited for Tomoko
>50%
I don't think it's that many.
exactly, the authors gave Tomoko her wish but they dickridded the series success too much to just make a new series that might not do as well so they repurposed Watamote into yuri SoL
why do you retards keep making these threads, its allways like this
>yuri good
>no, yuri bad
unless you really hate yuri, its a great manga and it only gets better with each chapter
too bad a loud Yea Forums minority keeps screaming about tomoko being straight when she clearly isn't
I think you misunderstood my post.
I like the sound of that.
no it became yurishit
>normie
I need more art of tomo in this outfit...
It's good until she becomes normal
Then it's just boring and unfunny
I don't have any problem with Tomoko having friends and becoming less of a fuckup, I have a problem with the manga becoming yuribait and removing every element that made it good in the first parts.
yikes
It's trash, the mangaka became a feminist and turned it into yuritrash haremshit
Give it time
Do both of these.
Watch the OVA

Fixed.
sly motherfucker
I swear these threads are made by people who hate the manga so they can post about how much they hate it.
>too bad a loud Yea Forums minority keeps screaming about tomoko being straight when she clearly isn't
Very true, but shipfags are fucking cancer and I didn't sign up for harem shit, from the look of things around here I'm not alone. I read parts of the manga every few months or so to see if it gets better. And while it still has its moments Watamote has largely lost the appeal it had, for me at least. Tomoko making friends wasn't a bad thing, but there's so many fucking side characters constantly orbiting her it's ridiculous. They're taking away more than they add. Less is more and all that. A lot of the side characters we started out with have been pushed to the wayside to make room for these new ones, like Tomoki and Yuu.
About halfway through the series it begins expanding the supporting cast. At first it's a breath of fresh air that the series really needed, but expanding the cast also had the side effect of mellowing out the main character. Now she's kind of in an awkward spot where she's not awkward enough to go out of her way to do weird stuff anymore, while still being too passive to carry any scene where she's in a group. So now she more or less just functions as a hub for the side characters to gather around.
It's not a terrible change, but it definitely lost a lot of the cynical humor that made it unique early on.
those people are retarded
this
Yeah but I meant to imply that the yuri was a negative, though Yuri herself is one of the handful of side characters I actually like at this point. The others are just one-note/yuribait trash.
no
Tomoko's first year of high school was divine punishment for this.
You're right, it really isn't that controversial.
They just need to put Tomoko in unfamiliar territory again to get her to do stuff.
it's boring, the porn has better stories
The porn is mostly yuri and some grotesque futa and scat.
Not really.
