That's unfortunate. I had a similar terrible time with 0079 and thought Zeta was fantastic. There really are as many differing opinions on each Gundam entry as there are people who watch them.

I like both of them but I probably prefer 0079. Zeta got a little messy for me near the middle. Might just be because of me. I was watching LoGH at the same time and took a break from Zeta for a while to finish that. 0079 was really fucking good for me and I had no problem watching it. Finished it in under a week.

Every time a Gundam thing was trimmed down it was for the worst. The 0079 summary movies are shit and barely coherent, F91 is more like a highlight reel of something that doesn't actually exist than an actual movie, and G-Reco also kind of suffers from too fast of a pace. The only Gundam series I felt was too long was Victory but I don't know if it could be trimmed all the way down to 25 episodes.
