It's like making an episode of Friends when Phoebe starts dating a Marxist Steve Jobs and it's played for drama. It's absurd.

A happy ending, this is a little too close to my life so I enjoy it, but I worry if I'm doomed to dying alone.

The main point was to be having Retsuko pair up with a guy that could have given her anything she ever wanted, except the one thing that was her dream. Even when he told her that she could just quit and that the company didn't need her, she felt pained by that, and even questioned why exactly she felt that way.

Yet the point of the whole arc was Retsuko realizing she wanted to marry, not for shallow reasons. To find a romantic partner who could be herself with (same with Tadano) and see if she could potentially share her life.

So Tadano is rich and a super genius? That was just a plus on top of the whole thing. And Retsuko already liked him when she thought he was unnemployed. Basically Retsuko had in Tadano what she wanted in one package.

But alas, Tadano doesn't believe in marriage and thus it became a sign of instability in the relationship. Because what's the point if you want to marry and have a family but your partner doesn't? Retsuko wasn't going to try to make him change either so...

Retsuko figuring out WHAT THE FUCK IS IT SHE WANTS.

She says she wants to fuck off from job and be a housewife, but she had plenty of opportunities to do that. What she say she wants is like watching a middle schooler who has a great idea for essay but can't come up with words to write it.

It's almost like real people are the exact same way or something. It's almost like real life is filled with extreme uncertainty and constant worry about what the future may bring.

She has decided what she wanted. In S1 she was basically a gold digger, she wanted a husband so she could stop working. In season 2, she decided that she is more interested in finding a husband she seriously cares about, even if that means working. She just didn't get with Tadano because he didn't want to get officially married or have kids, things she did want.

So, I didn't know there were shorts about this before the show.

I notice some characters have different names and even other characters are different. Haida for example.

She had literally just gotten out of a bad relationship in which she was exhausted just trying to keep herself happy by ignoring how she actually felt about her dating Resasuke. No shit she wasn't ready to jump right into another relationship. It's also really bad to do something like that anyway. She had every right to reject him for his offer, and he never resented her for it. The little things he does every now and again, like sticking up for her against Anai, or getting himself involved with the Tadano situation, that's what really matters in the long-term.
