Just finished Apocrypha (ya I know it's shit I'm not defending it) and I can't help but feel sorry for the guy. All he wants is a fair 1 on 1 fight and every single time he gets screwed over or people outright cheat to steal it from him. I'm a shitty anime only atm but is there any version of fateshit where this guy doesn't eat a shit sandwich? I don't even care if he wins I just want to see him get his duel.

I like how people think Lancer's actually weaker as a Lancer. Everyone keeps forgetting that he was chained by a Command Spell so he couldn't fight the way he wanted to. In the Fate route, the only fight that he was able to go all out in was against Gilgamesh. Despite losing, he still managed to hold Gilgamesh off for a whole day. In Unlimited Blade Works, he dominated against Archer and only died because of a Command Spell. In Heaven's Feel, he was defeated by the natural enemy of all Servants, the shadow, something that was even able to defeat Saber, Archer, Berserker and Gilgamesh.
Lancer Cu Chulainn has access to the same Primeval Runes as Caster, just less potent. On top of that, he also has Gae Bolg. The only reason he didn't make better use of his runes was because he didn't like them, but if he used them properly he'd be even stronger.

Well like I said I'm anime only so I don't really understand the whole deep lore how every spirit is 5 different people and can be every class depending on the story. All I know is that all of the fate I have watched so far the character that is called lancer always gets cucked out of his wish to have an honorable duel. I guess that's on me but it was just something that I noticed that was frustrating.

What's funny is Cu is fucking strong, one of the strongest servants in the franchise. Even with Command Seals holding him back he still managed to last half a day against Gilgamesh. And even though Caster is his weakest class, he was able to stomp through the 5th Holy Grail War as Caster and win.
