The walls of texts are about maturity. Current arc has shown that pretty well, these characters are actual professionals in a setting where one mistake could easily get them killed, putting their lives on the line if not outright sacrificing themselves for mere slivers of information. This isn't typical shonenshit where top commanders/veterans are retarded jobbers with no thought process. Note that characters express their inner thoughts with a bias based on how that character is. In the most infamous page that triggered brainlets, Rihan didn't even assess the situation accurately because his ability is a linchpin in Benjamin's counter guardian beast operations, and since Rihan by nature of his ability has to stay disconnected from the normal flow of information and make his own assumptions. What he thinks is important and if he makes a mistake not only is death pretty much guaranteed, but even if he doesn't die he's out of the game for 48 hours and that's a window Benjamin cannot afford.

The problem with walls of text is that comic book fonts aren't very efficient at conveying large amounts of information, compared to standard Japanese fonts which you might see in any textbook or newspaper.
