Kinda related, but I'm trying to get to the original files published on Fuz (it's using Publus tech) and I suppose that's what the mobile app is downloading (web files are scrambled jpeg images and can be decoded with the chinese nwjs app, mobile is downloading encrypted jpeg.enc files instead which I hope have less jpeg artifacts and require less post-processing).

I take it nobody ever broke the Publus encryption (it seems to be using openssl enc) so I shouldn't even bother trying? I can into Android to a certain extent but I'm not exactly a pro in dismantling the apps.

I've got no idea about bookwalker, but the kind user already explained everything for this particular case, there's your decryption method right there.

It's a chunk of code from Publus' viewer_image_something.js that's just literally telling you where source tiles should go in the destination image. Parameters are image width, image height, tile width, tile height, decoding pattern. The latter one is generated from the filename, just google comic earthstar decoder and you'll see the code, it's exactly the same here.

I know this isn't the thread for it, but I spent a month writing my BW decryption script in python. You'll get a headache juggling all the decryption passwords that Bookwalker uses. Decrypting an image in a BW book involves reading a key from an encrypted database with which you can open an encrypted zip file in which is another encrypted zip file in which is an AES key split into three separate encrypted files. With that key you can decrypt a jpeg in a book, after which you deobfuscate the data with an xor-phrase you get from an encrypted file in the zip file I mentioned, after which you decrypt the first 10272 bytes again with the same AES key and then you deobfuscate it again with yet another key you generate from an encrypted file in the zip file. And that's only the jpegs not including the cover image that's not even stored in the same folder as the other images.

I'd share my script if I wasn't paranoid about BW getting their hands on it, too, but I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have in your own decryption process.
