So this is... the art club...
A rare tsukkomi from Fuu-senpai.
Sasuga Kurihara.
Thanks for the chapter OP!

Girl of my dreams right there.
Now where do I find one in real life?

Sometimes I think that Kamiya is on the way to become the next Da Vinci.
Go climb a mountain in the rain, maybe you'll find one.

>climb a mountain in the rain
I tried that, and I didn't find anyone.

Thanks, user.

>新幹線は関東と九州を結ぶ交通の大動脈だ
Is there any reason Keito went off on that tangent?

Us mortals could never understand

no wonder she sleeps all day

Nah.

Bump!

So we need to scoop her?

Nah.

>who are you again?
Ouch. Cute though

Sensei is way too relatable to me.

I wonder what she was doing all night. Is she secretly a huge otaku?

>Now, even the art club encompasses a lot of things
>Yes, such as watercolour, oil, acrylic, sculpture and so on
Insects, cats, plants, bargain sales, and so on.

>When you think about it, it's a bit of a mystery whether or not everyone is doing art
It's not a mystery at all..

Thanks OP

A cock otaku.

Or, to abbreviate it, kotaku.

I'm sure she'll be fine, unless she runs out of tea

Attached: egg.png (1101x1600, 144K)

I find it funny that Ao's reaction to Sora's statement was "Are you sure?"

Are you sure?

Bump!

Do not bully Ooba.

But if everyone else is getting tsukkomi'd, shouldn't she get one too? Is it better to be excluded?

The others were getting pretty normal comments. Ooba didn't deserve her bullying.

What if she got the same one as Negishi? Would being the only one who got a reused one be better?

Music is art. Obviously Juju-kun is the most creative here.

Ryou getting startled by Fuu's aggressive retort is cute as heck.

I'll say it again. Nagisa is so fucking cool.

It also gives me the feeling that she could kill you with the contents of that pouch.

I think she could kill me with just a pointy enough stick

Why on earth did she dunk her head in water?

Maybe they are practising their standup routines, performance arts are also art.

I remember a manga about a manzai team where one of the guys gets hit by a car anyone know it, it was a good read

imagine a world where pointy sticks are the most lethal weaponn

They're just as lethal as every other weapon.
After all, lethal is lethal. You can't die 50% more than death.

It's about power multipliers.

You mean multiplexers?
Don't like them. Too much shifting. Half-adders are much more aesthetical.

So deadly that it kills your ghost too.

power multipliers
eg here's a stick go hit someone or stab them to death
here's a halbard (stick with metal pointy and cutting bit on the end) kill more
here's a tank that fires explosive rounds go destroy a couple buildings and any hard infrastructure or combatants
here are a couple of nukes mounted on a trucks, go park them in the underground carparks beneath a pair of skyscrapers we've rigged to detonate, kill a couple thousand people instanly and 10 times as many with fallout and toxic dust...
simple stuff like that

That sounds even worse than multiplexers, the 64bit kind.

But can you imagine life without them? We might as well go back to the telegraph.

Sure. Replace each of them with adders and register-shifts. Makes everything noticably slower, but only by a constant factor. We'd maybe be half a decade behind on speed.

I wonder why she carries a bag of random things?

I wonder why you don't.

if you were raised in the right sort of countryside you'll likely have a simple fishing kit, a length of line some hooks, maybe a fly or two and a float and weights

For situations like this.

Each individual one would drop speed by a fixed amount, but you never go through just one.

>but you never go through just one.
Doesn't matter. To replace one 64bit multiplexer, with a bit of clever shifting, you need 16 64bit adders. Now, adders are of course faster than multiplexers, but let's assume they aren't for the sake of the argument. That means that each multiplication needs 16 times as long plus a little overhead for all the shifting. So that wakes a constant factor of less than 20 for each multiplication.
Now, even if your whole program consisted only of multiplications, and each of them would need 20 times as much time, that wouldn't slow down the program more than by that constant factor - because all those multiplications get applied one after another in a linear fashion.

Now, if multiplications would acutally call other multiplications recursively, then we'd have the problem of that factor adding up or even exploding (depending on how exactly the recursion looks).
Good thing that multiplications can't do that!

Just some basic EDC. People carry all sorts of weird things around.

feels like every comment below this one is being judged by them

just put her face in the bucked to see it better

But that's only if you're using them for logic. What about all those multiplexed data busses? Do you want to slow down every operation by that same factor? Twice, since it happens on each end.

>What about all those multiplexed data busses?
It's the same thing. When you apply a slowed down operation twice that does just mean that two parts get slowed down by the same factor. It does not mean that the whole operation is slowed down by twice that factor or the square of the factor of something. So it will still be 20, not 40 or 400.
Of course, you don't need multiplexed busses in the first place if you're willing to build a bit larger, which won't have as much of a slowdown effect on the whole thing.

That's a whole other problem, board space. Your 16 adders take up a while lot more space.

what board space, silicon baby.

>Your 16 adders take up a while lot more space.
So what?

How small you can make it has been the proper e-peen protocol since 1970.

>How small you can make it has been the proper e-peen protocol since 1970.
Well, 1970 is when it all started to go to shit anyway. Take me back to the summer of '69.

That's also when Sazae-san started. Coincidence?

My little comment about a pointy stick has generated a conversation that I can't really understand

That almost sounds like a LN title.

Nah, just a normal sketchbook thread.

That's all for today. One time when I was in elementary school we had an earthquake drill instead of a fire drill. The only difference was that we went to the gym instead of outside. Also, where I lived hasn't had an earthquake in more than 300 years.

Attached: Sketchbook v04 c56 - 108.png (800x1200, 147K)

Thanks, user.

>The only difference was that we went to the gym instead of outside.
Wouldn't being outside be the safer option in case of an earthquake? Free open space with nothing that could collapse over you.

She could be the next Steve Irwin.

being a side character and all I always fear she won't get enough exposure but I'm glad that she gets quite a lot of attention in this manga.

Attached: quiz-killer.png (179x262, 16K)

another sketchbook reveal their naming power level

Elementary school administrators aren't exactly known for their thinking skills.

Just tried this. It's actually pretty cool.

Negishimon is killing everyone

Imagine Sora's strong legs for a moment.

Just imagine those strong noodles wrapped around your head.

It's Japanese pasta.

I've done that, if you're on a slope they're potentially pretty dangerous.
usually you leave them arranged edgewise onto the slope so they don't roll occasionally if you fuck up things go very badly wrong.
straw bales are the lightest but we're still talking 250kg at the lightest for a standard diameter.
get a soggy wet silage bale and we're talking 800kg or more. used to play games at yfc where you had to roll them around and obstacle course and then wrap them with a sort of cling film

Men (麺) are Japanese pasta.

So it's 麺 wrapped around your 面?

talking of eating men, Kuga really wants that Negishi doesn't she

Ohh, the dog got adopted. Good for him.
Thanks for the chapter. I want Kurihara to get her own TV show. I've only had a fire drill while I was on college.
>One time when I was in elementary school we had an earthquake drill instead of a fire drill. The only difference was that we went to the gym instead of outside.
Hold on, wouldn't be quicker to get under the tables if you're in case of an earthquake if you're inside a building like a school? I don't think that moving around during an earthquake is a good idea. But I also live on a place where is known to have earthquakes, so maybe I'm wrong.

Superior Nipponese spaghetti folded over a thousand times.

I'm japanese pasta!?

>around your 面
Sorry, but I don't get it. Wouldn't a 面 by definition be flat in any context?

Sounds like you need to practice kendo more.

I know nothing about kendo. I just know that 面 describes surfaces, faces and layers.

Spherical objects, cubes and other three dimensional shapes all have surfaces thought.
Even your pee-chan has a surface.

Attached: pee-chan.jpg (300x240, 18K)

You're thinking about it more than they did. I suspect someone told them they needed to do an earthquake drill, so they did what was easiest.

Sure. But to wrap a noodle around a 2D-surface in a 3D-system, you'd actually need to wrap it though the 4th dimension, Klein-bottle style.

麺 wrapped around your 麺.

But this is a 2D system.

user stop, this isn't the cute kind of autism.

Attached: 6c2318b749328e8b166ee21754a35fb4469ca7bb.png (350x450, 28K)

I wish, user, I wish ...

You wanna claim that Klein-bottles aren't cute?

Attached: kleinbottle.jpg (750x1000, 98K)

I never could roll those things. They are huge and heavy, doubly so in my constantly cold, wet country.

silage doesn't really roll and is too dense with anything other than a tractor but hay bales and straw bales are manageable, If you dump a round straw bale in a cattle shed you can roll it around to bed up, you just have to fight off the cattle (they like to play with them)

We need manga about cute girls farming cute crops.

moyashimon and nourin are the closest I know?
non non biyori?

>moyashimon
Not cute enough.
>nourin
Too much best girl getting ignored.
>non non biyori
Not enough farming.

I wonder if marrying Kurihara would be profitable.

Why would you care about that?

Although I think Moyashimon has some top tier girls (?), farming is much of an afterthought compared to fermentation

Attached: this is fine.jpg (207x514, 37K)

The kanji for "drill" looks like an erupting volcano. I wonder if that is a coincidence?

Looks like a dog version of President Aria.

Thanks OP.

probably a few of them cute farming manga exist but if yes I don't think many are translated

rakunou milk?

just found our Hyakushou kizoku vol1 is available to read on mangadex as an exlicense from j-manga
mangadex.org/title/10275/hyakushou-kizoku
I'd been collecting chapter translations for years to typeset but now I don't need to
though the rest of the volumes are untranslated...it's a good series basically a sort of autobiography by the fullmetal alchemist author about growing up on a farm

how did I forget silver spoon?

Attached: ARAKAWA_Hiromu.jpg (150x150, 7K)

I might storytime this chapter style at some point like these threads, try and drive some interest to get more translated,

Attached: hyakushou_kizoku_c02_p08.jpg (1096x1600, 289K)

I forgot they had that corner artwork, if you flick through the book you get an animation

>The kanji for "drill" looks like an erupting volcano.
災: disaster, calamity, woe, curse, evil
The full phrase here is 防災, Disaster prevention.

But as always, the history isn't quite that simple.

>For the kanji 災, in oracle bone style, (a) had a weir or dam that blocked the flow of a river, resulting in a flood, and the bottom was a fire. (b) was a weir in a river. A flood and a fire caused by a lightning and spontaneous combustion in a mountain together signified “natural disaster; calamity.”

I really want to go to Hokkaido.

That was Hiyori Sensei, wasn't it?

No, but she tries harder.

The fact that the doggo is wagging its tail in the last panel of "Narration" shows he approves of the narration.

Uh oh. Guys, Kuga's tripping the fuck out again, What do I do?

That's normal. You should only worry if she stops.

She's operating on a different plain, it's okay if you can't comprehend it.

But it works for both.

but only for Kuga

have you guys ever tried making your own simple comic before?

I don't mean in like a Yea Forums way but 4-koma's are quite a simple format with a low barrier to entry since this is an art club focused 4-koma I thought maybe some of you might have experimented?

I once took an existing 4koma, cut out panels and rearranged them, and then wrote new dialogue. It did limit me to only using talking heads, but worked okay.

Ah I've done that for a few series just as edits for the series threads
can't say they were hugely funny

>can't say they were hugely funny
Yes. One of the reasons I'm not posting it.

Kurihara will write an entomology guide.

I always felt like Tori-chan is the closest thing to an author avatar, so her.

They all could be authorial self-inserts, depending on the author's personality and history.
Someone like Sora could be a self-insert for a very clumsy author who sees the story through his own eyes.
And someone like Asou could be the rational, outside observer the author himself is.

First, the joke is that both phrases are pronounced the same.

肉は砂 Niku ha suna
秋茄子は嫁に食わすな Aki nasu ha yome ni kuwasuna

"Don't feed autumn eggplant to your daughter in law." is a real "proverb". But it's a strange one.
There are several potential explanations. No one is sure, but the first is most common.
1. Autumn eggplant is so delicious that it's too good for your daughter in law.
2. Autumn eggplant has no seeds, so it reduces fertility.
3. Autumn eggplant is so delicious that she'll eat too much, and be harmed by the alkaloids.
4. In traditional medicine, eggplant was used for cooling, and it will make her too cold.

A great portrait of Japanese mothers. No girl is good enough for your son, but the best thing she can do to make it up to you is grandkids. Of course, that's why numbers 3 and 4 are important, she's got to be in good health for a healthy baby. For extra irony, I think the alkaloids are only in the seeds.

Isn't that a rather judgemental stance on art?

To make their insect themed album, of course.

Even Kuga is afraid!
What are theygoing to do with all that equipment? A party?
Thanks OP. You know, when I read the chapter at first, I thought Buchi was asking where Canada(Kanada) is. Silly me. Also, if you were picked for the supreme world leader, can you decrete cute dorks a world treasure?

I'd vote for you.

>decrete cute dorks a world treasure
I thought that was obvious. Along with greatly increased funding for robotics research and terraforming.

That's horrible

This one could be translated as making stew instead of curry.

non non non
Thanks for all the notes

I think the joke is that they moved from Canada to Kanada.

dyslexic shopping

Oba.

>but the best thing she can do to make it up to you is grandkids
Considering Japan's birth rates, daughter-in-laws must really hate their mother-in-laws.

Shops are getting evil in their sale tactics. But as a poor person, Tori-chan should at least know the common tricks and traps.

>Plug
I hate when this happens, in my country they are always that little bit too wide.
>Hanger
I've actually seen similar "art" once, it was just a small heap of clothes spray-painted bronze, no idea what the meaning was meant to be. Kamiya could probably sell that shirt to some rich retard for a lot of money.

Thanks OP, I'd vote for you.

Ooba.

Sweeden, I think

>daughter-in-laws must really hate their mother-in-laws.
Honestly the biggest factor is female education
women's most fertile years are being sacrificed to learning and exhausting careers
it actually gets worse than hat when you realise that it disproportionately affects the smartest women with long term dysgenic breeding patterns created.

A 4koma about SEAL soldiers disguised as highschool students, they are trying to find the son of a mafia boss, but its comedy so it has shenanigans

Am I right to be getting full metal panic vibes?

How do you diguise pinnipeds as a highschool students? Wouldn't they stand out too much?

Genetic engineering. If we can have catgirls, why not marine mammals too?

well? what is it?

Fair point. But the only animals other than humans that have schools are fish. And fish would be even more afraid of seal soldiers.

>If we can have catgirls, why not marine mammals too?
Catgirls are somewhat more attractive than seal girls, user.

They are young and well preserved

>Catgirls are somewhat more attractive than seal girls, user.

started in 2003

I wonder if the young 'uns understand the reference?

heard something a while back that london went from either a couple hundred or thousand photo developer shops down to 8 specialists in 20 years

I was taking photos of butterflies in the garden last weekend, I must have got lucky as I got a bunch of varieties all attention-seeking and posing on different flowers.

Tesco Extra has "photo labs", but they are just printing digital photos onto glossy paper. I remember you had to plan your shot and be careful with your aim so not to waste film, and the joy of picking up your photos, everyone gathered round to laugh and reminisce about good days. Young uns these days are spoilt and don't know what they're missing.

And how sometimes your shot just wouldn't come out. My family went to Japan in the late 90s, took only 59 pictures, and some of them were underexposed.

If I went somewhere by myself, my parents would have given me a disposable camera, which came out even worse.

>took only 59 pictures
That's an oddly specific number. Are you sure it wasn't one less?

Yes, I've got them all scanned and counted the number of files in that folder. That's another thing, getting back from a trip and having to find something to use the rest of the roll on before you can get it developed.

>having to find something to use the rest of the roll on before you can get it developed.
How about private porn? Nude selfies? After all, you wouldn't have to worry about getting hacked back then!

>Film developer is fapping to your mom's nudes

Sure, why not?
It's a boring job, let him have some fun.

You can still do that. Get a digital camera and don't put it on the wifi. And then don't upload the pictures anywhere.

>And then don't upload the pictures anywhere.
But, user, where's the fun in that?

Privacy is it's own sort of fun.
This isn't even the worst outcome of showing your personal life to random bored people. Ever seen "One Hour Photo"?

Good, so all of the sketchbooks' nudes are safe.

That's all for today. Questions you're too afraid to ask is an interesting, yet terrifying topic.

Today's chapter is a little bit late, but there's a very good reason. Suddenly, my childhood friend decided we should play baseball. I had to run around trying to find enough people for a full team. Some more things happened, and I eventually got enough (even though they're nearly all girls) but I'm sure it will end there and not turn into a weird magic story where the best girl gets a disappointingly small amount of screentime.

Attached: Sketchbook v04 c58 - 126.png (800x1200, 133K)

Thanks, user. Have fun with your childhood friend and too little screentime.

Asou is the cutest!

Sora is the rightest!

It does.

>best girl gets a disappointingly small amount of screentime.
Sorry friend, you end up with worst girl in the end and best girl ends up as a OL in the future.

But I like OLs.

I eat bread twice a day and this never happens.

So i just found out that Kobako is finished with sketchbook and i was wondering if anyone knows if he is planning on doing another series or not?

>cooking on a heater
I love to cook on things that aren't stoves, I can't explain it but there's something sweet about being able to prepare food in unconventional ways. I'd love to cook together with sensei.

Yes, but I don't think the start date has been announced yet.

I sometimes keep a teapot on the heater to keep it hot all day long.

Do you know what it'll be about or what the title is?

Nothing has been announced.

She'll spin herself into the fire if she is not careful. Can you really call such a small fire a bonfire? It looks more like a campfire.

Sushi arrives on buses it seems

Not bad for a 15 year old dog. This is my dog in one page, I'm sure every dog owner has experienced this at least once. I will never forget the time when he was a pup, bolted a full kilometre down a long beach at top speed before finally stopping to pee and was caught. Now he permanently wears a long lead when he goes anywhere. Has the same habit of not letting go of the toy either. When he does, he leaves it beside his mouth and would instantly snap it if I even move an inch towards it.

It's on your back Sora!

Cooking is a kind of art, so it's okay!

Thanks OP, totally believable reason for being late.

>Prosopogryllacris
Sora is absolutely fearless. If I ever saw a bug like that I would go away just like a Euricana Fascialis.

>Sandwich
It doesn't.

>Sushi arrives on buses it seems
I have encountered some crazy people who call conveyor belt sushi a "sushi train". And what's a train but a bus on rails?

I think constantly about that last koma.

>Suddenly, my childhood friend decided we should play baseball.
What kind of harem are you living in?!

Pic related is all we have.

Attached: 1559943056379.jpg (1800x2400, 2.21M)

Holy crap! Sora almost became a bettle murderer!
Weird that those three plates came at the same time.
Sometimes. But it's rare that happens.
Thanks. Btw, is your childhood friend a girl too? Is your life becoming a romcom or a harem manga?
>What doesn't it have?
>Dreams. Hopes. Fulfillment. Freshness. Wonderful encounters.
It hurt. This not comfy at all.

Kuga is looking more and more like a moomin

At least she didn't take Kuro to Nara...

Thanks OP. I think my social life was set back by about 15 years because of questions I was too afraid to ask.

>Btw, is your childhood friend a girl too?
No. But he has a younger sister that's always hanging around, she's the pitcher. She's actually the same age as me, and he's a year older.

I want to marry Sora.

Attached: DpJYfqjUcAAlD2e.jpg (1337x2048, 453K)

Considering how hard her brother has it, I can't imagine dealing with her as her husband.

But all the tea you could drink.

Too bad it'll ONLY be tea.

What more would you want?

Actual food.
Actual drink.

The plus side of doing your own cooking is you always get what you want.
Is tea a fake drink now?

I'm sure she wouldn't stop you from eating or drinking something else.

Bump!

It's fine, I like cooking.

Attached: 1562035537728.png (738x1000, 616K)

Can you cook the kinds of things a Sora would like?

Tea?

She eats food too!

She looks like the kind of person who is fine with anything as long as it's good.

She likes the traditional foods. Like the type who doesn't like anything too sweet.

Are we sure that that's not just even more tea?

Yes. They may be matcha flavored foods though.

Matcha~ matcha~ matcha~ maaan,
I gotta be a matcha man!

>youtube.com/watch?v=hMqeNpP2PCo

That's just perfect, then.

Thanks OP!

Since you played baseball, you should post Scorebook next time.

Hasn't Scorebook not been translated?

I want to have a wonderful encounter with Sensei!

Wait, when did they cry?

You'll have to make it happen outside the art prep room then.

It certainly has been translated.

Art changes people.

Arai-san is the strongest!

How do you find this videos? Really interesting, also I didn't understand the frame-moving bug, it looks like a normal bug to me

Smart doggy.

Bump!

Bump

>How do we do bug jokes for the winter in Sketchbook?
You can maybe claim that many other activities that the girls do in this manga are art if you stretch the definition of art to its breaking point, but how is entomology jokes art?

I search for their scientific name. There's plenty of people that are way too into bugs in Japan, so the hardest part is picking one of the results.

not fully

You have to be creative to come up with the jokes. Could you call anything where you're creating art?

>Could you call anything where you're creating art?
Sure, just look at Kamiya here , that's modern art.

>Could you call anything where you're creating art?
You can call anything "art". Doesn't make it so.

that is actually a better piece than half of the instagram bait crap in MoMa

MoMa is full of all the kind of "art" that makes normal people hate modern art. Any local art museum is almost certainly better.

I thought that, but finding scientific names in jap sounds tedious

>finding scientific names in jap
Scientific names are the same all over the world. That's why they're all in Latin (and some Greek).

But how fo you find those on moonrunes? the title on the frame bug was on jap

>But how fo you find those on moonrunes?
You don't. user said that he searches for the scientific name, and that one's in Latin.
If you need to find the scientific name from a common Japanese one, well, then you already have that Japanese name and can just look it up on Wikipedia, which will list the scientific name for it.

Will OP make it on time today? Find out in 16 minutes!

>Will OP make it on time today?
What does "on time" even mean?
As long as we get a chapter within the next 20 hours, I'd consider that sufficiently "on time".

i don't think there is a standardized kana transliterations of latin names, so you just write it down in katakana like you would write any other name. if you are japanese, and you are doing science, and you want to precisely refer to something, you will probably need to learn the latin alphabet.

Look at the times of the first 3 chapters, OP usually posts around the same time, 15.30 Yea Forums time. Last night he was a bit late, but gave a totally believe able explanation for why he was late.

Not something you can see in Japan.

Bata bata: onomatopoeia for: someone running around, or slapping of a hockey stick against a puck; Cloth flapping in the wind, like a flag. See also *pata pata*; Flailing, Waving one's arms to try to retain balance; rattling
clattering; When there's a commotion.

Attached: Sketchbook v04 c59 - 133.png (800x1200, 120K)

That's all for today. If you didn't know about it, Japanese onomatopoeia is a whole other world of linguistic complexity.

I use the scientific name in katakana, which is often from Wikipedia. Sometimes Kurihara says the scientific names too and copying it from the JP version of the manga is easier.

What's the chance of another completely real story happening so soon?

Attached: Sketchbook v04 c59 - 134.png (800x1200, 128K)

Thanks, user!

A sou. He was actually 3 seconds early today!

>you will probably need to learn the latin alphabet.
Japanese learn that in school anyway and are generally pretty fluent in it.

I love every last one of these endearingly autistic Sketchbooks.

I've read everything there is already, but enjoying revisiting it with these threads. you're doing god's work OP.

It's early days yet, but do consider G.A. geijutsuka art design class as the next dump.

Kuma finally got adopted. Good for him.
Sora pls.
Thanks as always.

And make this the endless art era?

Who needs colors when you have LOOMIS

>I use the scientific name in katakana, which is often from Wikipedia. Sometimes Kurihara says the scientific names too and copying it from the JP version of the manga is easier.
So this is the way to do it, thanks

i don't think water blue is a pigment, are they talking about aquamarine or ultramarine?

>are they talking about aquamarine or ultramarine?
Well, the only thing I've found googling for "水青色" was pic related.

>rock-team.com/zh-tw/product-313175/水青色-RT-103B.html

That sleeveless thing she wears is so hot.

Those antennas she wears are so sexy.

Bump!

She learned from Kurihara.

Those pinprick eyes she wears is very attractive

>3 locks
Always keep one unlocked so burglars (or Sora) are constantly locking at least one lock when trying to get in.

How can such a time face on such a big head possibly be cute?

Tori-chan doth protest too much, methinks.

Japanese does seem to have a lot more onomatopoeias than english does. I wonder why.

Thanks OP.
>What's the chance of another completely real story happening so soon?
Around every corner is a girl with toast in her mouth.

>How can such a time face on such a big head possibly be cute?
Her weird taste in art must run in the family.

Poor Tori. They should have a fund raiser so she doesn't have to resort to eating cat food.

I love that koma so fucking much.

looks like aquamarine. there's their problem, actual name of the pigment is seawater, not water blue.

>Japanese does seem to have a lot more onomatopoeias

because its kawaii as fuck.

It's just 水色, which is even more vague.
