Neither of them would have ever been notable if not for the other. Ashly brought in the "omg a girl on the internet crowd" but Anthony did the groundwork. He was also responsible for a lot of the popularity that resulted for Jim Sterling (so less-directly Ashly is also responsible for that).
Honestly the two are weirdly connected to a lot of the gaming scene/industry because of Anthony's interactions when he was writing at destructoid, and now Ashly's VA work.
But the reason he's "popular" now is that aside from going hard on anti-gamergate and earning the hatred of the entire gaming community because of it, His wife (Ashley) literally cucked him, he decided he was bi and they agreed to have an open relationship, and then he got all pissy when she fucked all these guys and he couldn't find anyone to bang. At least, that's how the story goes.
