Lee was fast and strong enough to beat the sand.
So kid Lee could destroy an anbu like they were nothing.

The only reasony ou people say Tenten got the raw deal is because she's a girl.
Kiba was one of the more likable characters and the only move he got since fighting Sakon was pissing on enemies to smell them better.

The sand is the only thing he beat (which Guy can bat away with one hand with zero gates open). Opening five gates and nearly dying, Gaara still got up and walked away at the end of that fight. Lee was a jobber intended to hype up Gaara for the Sasuke and Naruto fights.

With no gates open Lee was able to touch Gaara, something that no anbu or jonin assassin was able to do before. With 5 gates he would murder them like they were nothing.

The anbu were inept jobbers for most of the time while the jonin were background characters (other than Kakashi and Guy). Kinda sucks, liked most of them more than the main cast
