Technically Detonation is the hardest she’s been BTFO, but it feels like her injury in StrikerS was way more impactful even if the injuries weren’t as big as losing an arm

The impalement was gone into far more detail and had a lot of impact on her life and outlook. The literal detonation didn't really do anything as far as what was written in the movie. It's kind of a waste considering we got such an injury in something other than a flashback.

Consider just how mentally fucked up Fate is and what Nanoha means to her. Beaten senseless and whipped by her mother, never praised or lovingly touched. Nanoha was arguably the first person (aside from Arf) to reach out to her. She's her first friend. Likely her first and only love. Consider just how hard Nanoha could mentally btfo her by breaking up with her- or cheating. Just think about how mentally subservient Fate is to Nanoha. Nanoha could force herself onto Fate any time she wanted and Fate would not object.

It's the same timeframe (age 11, 2 years after she starts working for TSAB) as the injury referenced in StrikerS, so it will probably serve the same purpose in the movie timeline.

Technical capabilities between the movie and main continuity are very different.

She was habitually overexerting herself, as she does, and got impaled by a type-4 gadget drone and its AMF fuckery.

I would say the medical technology implied in StrikerS isn't as handwavey as in Detonation. It was illustrating Nanoha's determination. I don't know what they're doing with Detonation going " ... and she's all better".

The focus in Detonation was more on how Nanoha wanted to live for the sake of not making others sad and that she'd eventually come to love herself, but it was all in the exchange with her inner self with no current payoff rather than her making several life changing mental revelations as she recovered in the main timeline that DID directly lead to her gaining a sense of worth for her own well-being, calming down on exerting herself constantly, determining to make sure that others don't make the same mistakes she did, and having a taste of renewed helplessness that fired up her motivation to get back to action that created a miracle that surprised even the medical staff. You know, rather than just kinda being back on her feet with no self input pretty easily because of super magic machinery.

Hayate has done nothing but win. She's cocooned herself in nothing but support, allies, friends and could probably politically btfo every other member of the TSAB command if she wanted.

Hayate may not be good at direct combat but she's got bureaucratic tactics under her thumb. Even after the special circumstances in StrikerS were over, reforming Section 6 was easy as pie in Force. She could arrange anything she wanted at this point with all of the clout of the members on the team.

The TSAB shot themselves in the foot by allowing for Nanoha and Fate to garner such extreme public support and popularity. Nanoha has MOVIES that have been seen by who knows how many people. And then they made the mistake of letting them raise magic jesus. Doing anything against them would bring down the pr fires of hell. Hayate is smart to keep them close.

The staff and Reinforce (albeit, both of their current incarnations are recreations) came naturally with the Tome to better direct and control its massive mana output. It's not exactly Hayate's fault, there. The Azure Tome is for Rein's own personal use because it's required for her own individual functions as a Unison Knight.

What's the issue? It's not like Vivio beat Nanoha when both were at full power or anything.

In fact it's made abundantly clear that under anything approaching normal circumstances rather than a sportsmanship ruleset, Nanoha would obviously win. Even if the special arena was the same, Nanoha had the edge for much of the fight and if VIvio went down at all she'd be out completely, rather than having a chance to recover because Nanoha'd have bombardment magic all over her ass.

This volume reminded me of how hard nearly everyone from StrikerS sans for a very select few got dropped post-Intermiddle after they appeared about as much as you'd expect them to near the start of Vivid. Granted, that also coincided with the manga's own original cast numbers going up and becoming able to carry the narrative, but still.

Yes. It’s a sequel to the manga, but Vivio is not the MC.

Either watch Vivid and then read the manga from chapter 32 onwards and then watch Vivid Strike, or just read the Vivid manga then watch Vivid Strike as has already been suggested.

How did they decide, anyway? Apparent age? How is Cinque second oldest under this system?

Watch the first season (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha), A's, and then StrikerS.

If you can't handle the weird pacing/low budget of the initial season you could watch the first movie if you wanted to, but I'd still say go back to the first season eventually once you're more into the franchise. Don't watch the second movie as your first exposure to A's no matter what.

Cinque's activation date is way way back. But yeah, not clear it is before Subaru. I think has to do with Scaglietti preconditioning the girls so they are older than the time since activation gices - during the season, Otto and Wendi are like weeks to months "old".

Subaru was raised like a normal human for the most part and her mental state reflects this whereas the Numbers' origins involved a lot of fuckery and manipulating them into feeling that they're older than they actually are so they're useful faster. Cinque's activation date is more recent than when Subaru was officially marked as born, after all, but she was in a higher state of mental functioning from the word go.

Fate got it even worse with only what, 2 stand out scenes in Detonation? Nice way of treating the most popular character in the franchise

Fate got the big focus insert song scene in Reflection that also happened to be by far the best Material confrontation, and a large amount of character focus there too. She's my own favorite but I can't be mad about how Detonation handled her when we got an adorable followup scene with Levi and she still flew in to save Nanoha when it counted. The movie had a bunch of other stuff to cover and it's understandable with Reflection in mind.

Hayate just got plain shafted, the Knights got a lot more than her in both films.

I love how Ron actually translated Fujima's and Nekotoufu's pages. Seems like most groups don't. It's really nice to hear some of the thought process and personal feelings that go into the series.

I find it odd that it's such a rare practice, I always love reading author insights. They're usually the easiest pages to typeset too.

Probably because most groups are exclusively reliant on Google Translate and big walls of text with no images to establish context make them scared that the readers will realize the group's incompetence.

Note that one part (not super important, but is referenced in Vivid) of the story is only told in StrikerS Sound Stage X.

But mainly, SSX is actually a story, a mini-season, not supplement, so you really should.
So much of Vivid references it.

BTW there are some great songs in them. Signum, Lynith, Yuuno (female voice hah...) have ones, particularly ReinForce Zwei's is great. And there is 2-3 Nanoha, Fate and Hayaate ones per season.

And that's one of the reasons I didn't bother with the Strike sound stage. Glad you've enjoyed my other more obscure projects. Some of my doujins have been more popular than the commentary subs which took over a month of work each.

Do it for the nostalgia. That's what I do. Though I actually really enjoyed Detonation. It connected with me in a variety of personal ways, but I understand if not everyone feels the same.

I really appreciate your work on those, they were a ton of fun. I imagine visibility and ease of access is part of the problem, it's easy to find doujin translations and read them online but not everyone even knows the commentary tracks exist, much less that they're translated. Somewhat tucked away DDL links and the necessity to set things up in MPC (as hilariously simple as it is) works against them as far as possible exposure. I think it'd do some good to make a pack of your more obscure translated stuff and get it out on a tracker, I know you included a txt file with your Strike BD release that had a bunch of download links but that was tucked into a folder itself that people would normally assume didn't have anything special in it. The way you tend to release your work is very low-key and makes it extremely easy to miss.

Have you considered translating the chibi specials on the Reflection/Detonation BDs? I know Vivid Life's your current project and getting that done's a lot more important but those would be cool to see some day.

As for the Sound Stages, I remembered the reason why I was initially turned away from them back when now that I took another look -- the translation jobs on the first few are hilariously bad to the point where the transcription itself features several admissions of it and there are like 3 different romanizations of the same names in the same translation. I took a peek at the above SSX link and that seems to be much more competent by comparison so I assume they're not all like that. I'm going to sit myself down and force myself to get through those now that they're on my mind, no time like the present.

I want more Rinne, but more Fuuka is nice too.

The sounds stages are some of the best parts of the franchise.
The stories feel smaller and more personal so they don't get as bloated as the main series and the one thing nanoha always excelled at is their seiyuus and they really get to shine in the sound stages.

Amen, if you can't enough of hearing Fate's (or others') voice, the sound stages will kill you.

Wow, you actually pay attention to what I do and recognize that I have a problem promoting myself. The elitism of Yea Forums always told me that I still needed to lurk more. As a result, you'd probably be shocked by how little I post even now. Additionally, I was correctly trained that social media (FB, Twitter, reddit, tumblr, blogs, etc.) are all clusterfucks of stupid attention whores. So I don't have accounts for any of those and hate the idea of changing that. But without a presence on those outlets, it's difficult to effortlessly promote my work. I'm actually very fortunate that the largest concentration of Nanoha fans isn't on any of those platforms at all. It's on Yea Forums. So I don't know how much compromising my values would even help. And I'd feel like such an obnoxious asshole going around here spamming links any more than I already do. I almost never post a link more than once. I didn't even think half a volume of Life deserved its own thread so I was thrilled when someone started this one right on cue. (Sorry to derail your discussion, OP. I was trying to wait a while until this observant asshole blew it.)

Two main problems with that. First is that there isn't a huge amount of obscure stuff. Really just two or three things. The second is that there's no way to update a torrent. Right now, I feel like my list of DDL links, which can pretty much all be found and edited in my torrent descriptions, gives people easier access. Believe me, I've thought a lot about making such extra torrents and have considered far more options than simply what you're proposing. I just don't think that almost any more people than already do would care which is a problem in itself when trying to keep torrents alive.

I can understand that sentiment and believe me, I appreciate your status as someone who isn't anything remotely approaching an attention whore for all of the stuff you do. Still, if people actually taking note of your translations is a concern with motivation, it wouldn't hurt to advertise them a bit more when you're posting around. I don't think people would mind much, sometimes all it takes is a timely reminder to get someone started on finally getting around to something that's been translated for a while (LIke me and these Sound Stages I'm reading through several years too late. Making it through the clunky translations is a bit of a hilarious mess but it does remind me of the older days. Thanks to the anons that brought them up.).

I'm not so sure about that. These threads seem to commonly have some fresh user stumbling in who is just now experiencing the series for the first time and might be interested in experiencing the more obscure content down the road even if it takes them a while. That is a very fair point about keeping such torrent(s) alive in the meantime though, but as funny as it sounds, it might actually be better for visibility to simply have such a collection listed on a tracker at all, and then have the DDL links available in the description there as well like usual. It may sound silly, but people would be far more likely to actually read the description and notice you have them there at all if such a collection pops up on a tracker as its own standalone entity. Normally those get fairly ignored if someone's just going through with only obtaining what's in the torrent's title, which may be twisting your view of how much visibility they truly get.

I'm almost certain that StrikerS was originally meant to be a sendoff to Nanoha/Fate/Hayate as the primary cast members so that Subaru/Tia/Erio/Caro could take the reigns but public reception wasn't what he expected so plans changed.

Let me make three amazing, based characters who only just matured into adults/began their professional lives/adopted a kid and send them off to explore characters people barely know. I wonder why that backfired.

I'd say having a wordpress bloglike site with posts with links for each individual release + some description isn't anything Yea Forums can get mad about and if it does, fuck it. That said I never ended up bothering with that for my anime rips. Not because Yea Forums but because effort/never having one before that.

If you don't want to bother, getting greened account for Nyaa is the least you deserve tho, for starters. From my experience, being listed on anidb/having links to IRC there doesn't seem to matter much.

Arguably Reflection and Detonation have retroactively given the loli era of the characters that one last adventure before adulthood that they needed. So I hope the same can be done for the StrikerS cast too.

Fuuka was not the best protagonist in the least in my opinion. Rinne is interesting and I liked her, but she 180'd far too quickly at the end of VS due to time constraints. Felt unnatural, which I wouldn't say about most other turnarounds.

Wasn't that because they intended to make Vivid S2 but couldn't with Nanoha's voice actor up in the air, so they had to make a new story that moved as far away from N&F as possible, requiring a more detached protagonist, but the end result would still shill Vivid's manga?

I scanlated a doujin where that happened. "Umi no Naru Machi de / The Sound of the Sea in the City" One of my favorites. I genuinely enjoy handholding.

On the old nyaa there used to be some "have enough torrents" guidelines and so on, I'd say as long as anybody on the staff was into Nanoha, it might work out, but contacts are always a problem.

Oh, so some do wanna know. It's a pretty boring story once you know my trick to the leak. I didn't have any sort of covert source providing it. I just happened to be one of the few people in the world monitoring the source of an accidental leak and apparently the only one ripping it.

Amazon UK did a special thing where they ran episodes 1 and 2 of Strike exactly one day before broadcast to try to promote their brand new (and now shut down) "Amazon Strike" anime simulcasting service. But it was *only* available in the UK which is why nobody had access to it. Thankfully, I was able to spoof my network so well that I didn't even have to stream it through a proxy and could easily make HD webrips myself. These early streams for Strike were supposed to end after ep2. But they didn't end. A news posting on the main site later revealed that the additional two episodes being posted early was a mistake that had finally been fixed which felt almost like a direct reprimand of my actions since I was the sole person making torrents of such leaks.

So episodes 3 and 4 also got automatically posted one day early. I wasn't ready for ep3 since I thought it wasn't supposed to come early and only got it released three hours before broadcast. I was ready for ep4 which just coincidentally happened to be the most notable episode of the season. I was in the perfect place at the perfect time, and it had more to do with my own skills and preparation than luck. So I started working furiously the moment that the leak hit 24 hours early, spent 14 hours cleaning up Amazon's terrible subs enough to meet my minimum standards, and then started a thread while incorrectly insisting that this didn't count as a leak (). That was a fun adventure. And I got to be the one to make everyone's favorite Nanoha webm that I've seen reposted about a thousand times on lots of different boards. It was a nice bit of Nanoha history that I'll always cherish.

It's a given that they already have it, it's very likely that we will have safe medical procedures for same sex reproduction in the next couples of decades with our technology (at least for two mothers), but we're talking about a civilization that is thousands of years ahead of us that can do absurd things like faster than light travel, interdimentional, teleportation through either technlogy or magic, human cloning with accelerated grow rate and memory transfer and keeping people alive indefinitely by putting their brain in a jar like it was some sort of Futurama parody.

The layaout of the anime didn't match the exterior of the house and didn't match some of the anime scenes either, and neither of those matched the design of the manga, except for having a similar style. So probably A1 screwed up, but they changed many other things too (or maybe they just got them wrong) so it's not really surprising. The overall production of the Vivid anime seemed rushed and low budget.

Shinozaki's take on the classic style is really good and gives it more modern vibes in a way that doesn't make it look weird as fuck like in the 1st/2nd Movie designs. I'm aware that those were prepared by the same character designer as the original trilogy but they're off in a strange way to me.

They basically took this and expanded it and combined it with Belka because our Belka knights were weapon users and close range fighters more than mages. We know what Nanoha offers for Fate but I really haven't seen much of what Fate puts on the table for Nanoha aside of being someone cute for Nanoha to protect.

There's no cheating in real life combat. What matters is she won in every circumstance that matters and anything said later about it is sour grapes. Plus, you're directly acknowledging she's able to go toe to toe with other combatants that outclass her raw stats because she's that good.

She didn't though, Vivio won the match because of the ruleset which allows for recovery. Nanoha had the upper hand the entire time and even at the end, she more or less chose not to stand back up to continue the match because she accepted Vivio's resolve and realized she misunderstood her intentions with the fight proposal from the beginning, which had been why Nanoha was trying so hard. Vivio was untransformed and defenseless and Nanoha could have shot her back down right there but that would have been incredibly unsportsmanlike and a terrible thing to do to her daughter.

And now because of that her reputation will suffer while her daughter will become drunk with fame.

TSAB is retarded for not working on Nanoha clones. Fuck morality, when everyone else is that fucking inferior to one shitty little girl who's NINE, that must mean something. Make one or two clones in a lab somewhere on some world with nothing on it.

Nanoha always goes overboard, even when she's supposedly still in recovery. Her core style is throwing everything she has and then some on the grill. She acted with moderation during the first half of StrikerS but every single fight she had since the battle at the Cradle has her going to the extremes and that's including friendly matches and mock fights. It's almost as if she completely ignores the very lesson she tries to teach to her students.

Her fighting style is pretty basic. She basically plays a game of who can hit harder, then locks you down, then blasts you. Really Nanoha is lucky she is really powerful or else this would never work.

A Nanoha clone with all of the strengths and none of the weaknesses would be fucking invincible.

Between StrikerS and Movie 1st manga Nanoha experimented with an interesting variety of spells that gave her style flexibility. Sadly in recent installments she has mostly gone back to her basics.

All the cloning shown so far has been imperfect. Fate was completely different from Alicia, and Vivio is nothing like Olivie.

Her style like getting into a fight with some master martial artist and getting your ass beat. Then coming back with a pistol, cornering, and shooting them.

The TSAB could still explore the option. Nanoha is basically the Big Boss of the mage world. Even if they can't duplicate her perfectly, it's certainly worth a try. Make a dozen or so clones. Look for the ones with high magic readings. Infect them with some foxdie bullshit so they die very early on. Repeat this for several generations of clones (maybe a decade's worth of work) until the final product is good enough for the battlefield.

They're still basically super soldiers so it has its uses.

Or initiate the Project Nanoha Beyond. Search for a good candidate and infect it with enough Nanoha cells so it's firstborn is basically a Nanoha clone.

Fate is strong like Nanoha too, thing is Fate is also a more experienced fighter who won't get into a pissing contest with you to see who can get punched in the face harder. Fate will just read you, then do her speed thing, then beat you down.

Fate was pretty on the spot outside of aspects of her personality, and Vivio was exactly as compatible with everything important as Olivie was (which was the point there), despite somehow being amusingly different physically and personality-wise.

However Nanoha's biggest strengths are in her personality and mindset. So cloning her with Project F tech is pointless unless they can iron that out, which seems impossible. It's not like the Nanohaverse in general haven't dabbled in creating supersoldiers with high magic potential, they can already do that just fine. But they're inferior because they don't have the right mentality.

But what are you going to do about all the Fates that would also be needed? By universal laws Nanoha must have a Fate. Having 100 Nanohas running around Fateless would be bad for the multiverse.

Nanoha is sort of a Spider-Man case. She's not the most powerful, fast or strong but she's still excellent in those areas and more, the combination of her skills, attitude and experiences make her someone extremely reliable who almost always gets the job done.

How hard is to tech a soldier to become self-destructive?

If the TSAB is doing this on some secret uninhabited world, they could be doing some Spartan Program type shit like throwing the clones into advanced leadership classes and making them run military drills. And if some evil shithead like Jail Spaghaetti has control over the project, make them fight to the death.

She is what they call a "sledge hammer". Basically you can fix any problem if you hit it hard enough.

Couldn't agree more. I've been very disappointed by how the sci-fi aspects of the series have advanced (or not) past S1. I sometimes wonder if Tsuzuki even has any clue how galaxies are structured. All this "interdimensional" stuff seems to have no relation to the real universe and often feels implemented inconsistently.

I hate to turn Yea Forums here, but if you want a space opera with a fucking fantastic setting (but sadly no yuri or magical girls), I highly recommend "Padora's Star" and its four direct sequels. It's ridiculously long and so hard to get into largely because the setting is so fucking huge and complex, but if you want to escape into a somewhat utopian sci-fi future involving immortality via rejuvenation, wormhole generators, lots of cybernetics, and really interesting mysteries involving ancient alien artifacts, then I highly recommend slogging through as much of it as you can until you hopefully grow to love it. It's so great at speculating about how new technologies will completely change society rather than ending up with Midchilda's boring Space-Tokyo. The audiobooks (I know they're on audiobookbay) might make it easier for a lot of people to get into since they're done really well.

I want a reboot of Nanoha set in those books' Commonwealth. It would be fucking perfect.

Come to thin of it, Fate's barrier jacket got two distinctly different forms (at least the old sonic form loooked different from her kiddo leotard, the adult one became more similar).

Nanoha's BJ is always rather similar, just getting new parts or accessory changes, the only deviation was the miniskirt+buttcape one, but that still retained the overall look of her basic robe design.

So, outside of the main trio since those tend to tip the scales, who's everyone's favorite characters? I think I'd have to say Rein. She's really cute and fulfills a unique role in the Yagami family. She has big shoes to fill as Reinforce's successor but does her best and has a neat relationship with the rest of the Yagami family. She even gives off an air of being older than she actually is while still having a nice childish side, albeit not one as pronounced as Vita's. Funny, since Vita wanted her as a younger sister so she could feel like a senior. It's also cool how she can unison with more than just Hayate and is useful to all of the family members.

I try to not rank, I like everyone, even the small parts like all those Section 6 girls. I have soft spot for Einhart since I started to read Vivid though, Signum too. In the movie, I liked Iris a lot. Sadly, Einhart for me was best in her early, serious and awkward mode.

I like everyone a lot myself, but I do have some particular favorites nonetheless. For a series everyone bemoans the character count of I've found that I tend to like almost every character introduced eventually.

Einhart's a good girl, personally it was her awkwardness and how she slowly grew to be accustomed to friends while still being uneasy about social situations that got me attached to her. She has a good heart and always had one, but had no idea how to deal with people or her memories. She shut herself away to not hurt others, but it was that that hurt them most and she finally realized it and started taking steps forward.

I enjoyed Iris' mean mode a lot, and while I do still like her reformed self, I wish we had gotten to see just a bit more of her as a villain than we did.

Signum has been and still is my favorite character the moment she entered the scene in A's. It hasn't been easy and I suffered a lot for it but ultimately I cannot avoid to like her. Even if she's not the strong stoic knight she used to be i also got hooked by her kindness, her efforts (regardless of how successful those are) her snarky sense of humour and the though camaraderie she started to show over time. I used to think she was perfect and accepting she isn't is one of the hardest things I've ever done as fan. Above perfection or strength Signum represents honesty, loyalty and honor. I can't always expect her to come out on top but I can always count on her giving her all to fight injustice.

I was hooked from ep2 too. Hard to not with that voice. I was at first afraid the tall one of the knights will be a guy (didn't get the everybody is a girl nature of Nanoha yet, since S1 had Chrono and Yuuno), but that got sorted soon, also I guess I somehow missed her boobs.

Yeah I also got surprised when I first read the Nanoha A's manga. For being a character so recognized by her "size", Signum was almost flat during her manga debut.

You realize this pasta misses the entire point of Fate's character right? She has all of Alicia's memories from Alicia's perspective. She's such a good person specifically because she was "raised" in a loving fashion by Precia when she was still sane- albeit it never physically happened. To Fate whether it happened is only a practical matter, the reality is that the memories she has are just as good as if she herself were Alicia.

It was stated that Precia only tolerated her a little before she went apeshit. Fate is a good person but if we're being real about it, being told that your worthless trash by your mother will still do damage. Now factor in what you said. Fate has all of Alicia's memories but her mother still doesn't want her and despises her for being a failure. Imagine being a kid and dealing with that. Then factor in the crazy physical abuse and probably social isolation.

Fate probably won't have any mental issues as severe as what was described in the pasta, but it's said in that Vivid manga that she gets easily jealous and is always watching Nanoha. I wouldn't completely rule out abandonment issues.

Gears of Destiny is the only time Fate's true feelings come out about Precia in the form of a Dark Fragment. She is way more broken and upset by how Precia treated her than she ever lets on otherwise.

The only thing that kept her together mentally before she met Nanoha were Alicia's memories. Her continuing to treat Precia as the mother that she can't forget is a coping mechanism.

The damage manifested in the fact that she was never able to recognize just how far gone Precia was. The jump between Alicia's Precia and Fate's Precia was so big she never comprehended a change took place at all, to her Precia was still the wonderful mother she'd always had but was extremely troubled by what was happening.

In any case I'm not trying to make overarching claims about her character, just that "Fate was never praised or lovingly touched" was, by her perspective, not the case at all. If anything as far as she knew she had a great life until relatively recently.

I wanna see Fate's recovery after being taken in by Lindy. She didn't even think of herself as a real person. Both Lindy and Crono had to reassure her that she was a real person. Just born in a different way from most people. We've gotten doujin about Nanoha recovering from the drone fuckery, but I'd love to see doujin about Fate learning to care about herself.

The Sound Stages go into that for a short bit. After the dream within the Book of Darkness where Alicia sends her off and she denies the false reality, she finally accepts that her life as Fate, as a human being and not a failed clone, has begun. That's also when she finally truly accepts Lindy as her mother in the main continuity as well.

A shame the story within does not at all match up to the art. It's probably the single most pointless entry in the entire franchise.

That's what happened. The (most importantly) Japanese and western reception were both weak at the start and it got effectively cancelled as a result. As notes a lot of the issue lay in the manga format as well, since chapters took so damn long to come out and people had to constantly monetarily support even the parts they didn't enjoy to get more. Tsuzuki's primary-type Nanoha storytelling is very ill suited for making people wait eons for the turnarounds he always writes in.

If they ever attempt it again, they've gotta get away from the weird alien Tokyo/LA Midchildan medieval shit and I don't know, actually explore the sci-fi aspect of the series. I'd rather see Fate or Nanoha on some alien world helping resolve some crisis then have more Mcmansion Midchilda shit.

It's complicated. The manga had several interesting ideas and as a whole is actually not that bad but the horrible pacing and cliffhangers alongside some desicions alienated several fans.

The Innocent mangaka is fucking amazing at drawing cute lolis but their adults look atrociously bad. I kinda wish they got to handle the Reflection manga instead of just storyboarding it, they regularly make Nanoha doujins and love the series.

A's and A's to StrikerS was good. Some chapters of the StrikerS manga where also highlights.

What that user presumably meant was the main stories, not the THE COMICS format of narrative supplements which works extremely well for manga and can be finished up quickly. Force was trying to tell a longform full Nanoha story purely through manga chapters over what would have spiraled into a span of several years and was already dragging on realtime-wise despite just getting to the practical kickoff of things in reality.

Vivio has to hear and see her mom's faggotry all of the time.

I get what he was going for, with one group putting up with the Eclipse and trying to live life as best they could while being forced to kill people and avoiding owning up to it when pushed on the subject, but they didn't turn out as likeable as the author probably intended with what was there so far. The other group was more or less full of assholes that were using the Eclipse as an excuse to go on mass murder sprees for fun as a contrast.

I just had a wild thought and imagined a crossover with World Trigger. There are a surprising number of similarities between the two.

I didn't liked this too much even if it makes sense. Their styles and devices were part of their identity for several episodes. Suddenly changing that and denying their old companions a chance to shine was harsh. It left a bitter taste.

This shit right here is why I avoid Force for so long. People taking problems and blowing them out of proportion to make the issues look bigger than they actually were. When I finally sat my ass down to read the manga and found it to be decent, I was pissed. Fuck you guys for misleading me for literal years, but I guess some of the blame is on me for believe things without evidence in the first place.

I'm almost certain it probably happened on the Japanese end as well. Kneejerk reactions from some readers leading other fans to not even try reading the manga or being dissuaded from liking it via groupthink.

You and me remember Budapest very differently. Subaru got schooled by Veyron on their first encounter, Isis got one shot by DeVille, Nanoha put up a nice fight but was ultimately defenseless in front of an unscatched Tohma and has to be saved by Subaru, Hayate got one shot by Curren, Vita and Erio got stomped while fighting two on one.

As for Agito they made a big deal of how she and Signum fight as one (even during the rematch) so any loss for Signum is a loss for Agito if she was involved.

I feel like I've said this about 5 times in the past month, but this may have been the best Nanoha thread we've had in years. They just keep getting better. Or maybe it's just my bias toward more Life TLs.

We definitely remember their fight differently because I dont remember Subaru losing against Veyron at all. No, an antagonist putting up a fight against a protagonist is not a case of jobbing. Isis getting one shot is an interesting way to put it, as it makes it sound like she was BTFO straight up in one hit in a head to head fight, when in actuality DeVille got a lucky hit in from behind and she never fought him in the first place. Hell she wasn’t even knocked out by that blow. Same applies to Hayate getting backstabbed. It’s not jobbing.

Nice use of fancy wording to make the muddle the facts. Nanoha put up a much better fight than what you let on, even the Bible of the Silver Cross recognised her a credible threat. Subaru did jump in for the save yes, but that was for more thematic purposes as Subaru is more closely connected to Thoma than Nanoha is. Going to disagree on Agito since I don’t see her losing as a job at all.

Force autism did spring up at the end, but I suppose discussion is a good thing.

I think when it comes to this jobbing debate, anons have very different definitions on what counts as jobbing in the first place. If a baseline definition can’t be agreed upon then the argument goes nowhere.

I don't mind people arguing the merits of Force. It's an extremely important topic given that production has spent years shaping the franchise around not having to address it. By avoiding it at all costs, they're making it a very central focus for everyone else. So regardless of what anyone thinks about it, it's important.

If you want to get to the specifics Nanoha got completely disarmed, the Fortress was destroyed as was her strike cannon, RH was useless in that situation and Tohma was in mint condition about to resume the assault on her. Nanoha was toast if it weren't for Subaru.

The thing about getting upset about the protagonists being in a negative position but still pulling out some positives despite being able to say that they "lost" is that the start of A's did exactly the same thing but everyone loved A's in the end. Just it happened to a larger cast because that's where the series was at by the point of Force, and things were turning around just like A's.
