Basically, it was shit.
The bad guys revealed to be humans.
No proper second season
Terrible follow-ups
Not "edgy" and "mature" enough for people that overrate the pre-2000 period to keep spamming.
Evangelion did it first.
That's a bad take my man.
I remember the movie seemed to change the tone in a bad direction, and there was a naked Ruri.
I only want to watch the show because ruri is cute.
Does she get lotsa screentime?
This show was only popular with early teens/pre-teens in the late 90s/early 2000s in the UK.
I didn't really like the film sequel that much and wanted a second season instead, ending to the show was limp and had a really annoying infodump if I recall aswell.
But I enjoyed the majority of the show, found it generally funny when it came out over here and Ruri is the first female character I ever found attractive.
The manga is very different to the anime.
I was unexpectedly attached to Gai, despite how short a time he was in the show.
Also Ruri is the entire focus of the manga.
/this
Nadesico wanted to be everything and fucking failed at it.
Compare it with, say, Gundam Thunderbolt. That OVA franchise (which were combined into two movies) kicked more ass, and sold half as many mobile suit models, than that potpourri of fecal matter.
Does this show have romance?
>What went wrong? Why did this jewel faded into oblivion?
What do you want? For it to descend into endless money grubbing like Fate that reduces the entire enterprise into a shameless cash grab that almost completely drowns out anything special about the original? How about we turn it into Gundam, just churning out rehash after rehash, slowly overburdening the franchise with a convoluted universe and AUs? Maybe you'd prefer it to turn into Evangelion, where it keeps getting dumb fucking reboot movies and the same tired old arguments keep getting thrown around? What exactly is it you think Nadesico desperately needs besides just be a good fucking show that had its time and can be pointed to when someone asks what a good fucking show is supposed to be?
It felt like a bunch of mecha fans making a fun show. It wasn't trying to be anything serious. I didn't like that they made the enemies human
pls respond
Isn’t the film meant to be really shit
Harem element but the Main leads Get together in the end.
I never like to use "You didn't get it" as an excuse but reading some of these replies really makes me notice that a lot of people really didn't get it.
>What went wrong?
The movie. And probably the end of the TV series, but I barely remember that.
>No proper second season
the sequel was a video game
A sequel movie called The Prince of Darkness is a 1998 anime film written and directed by Tatsuo Sato, and it is a sequel to the series Martian Successor Nadesico. The story is a direct sequel to Nadesico: The Blank of Three Years, a video game for the Sega Saturn that takes place immediately after the TV series ends, and before the movie begins.

And there was a manga "A manga series loosely based on the anime with a whole new story line and written for a mature audience."
Pretty fucking sick opening tho, senpai.
by kia asamiya it was bullcrap at least akito fucks the milf in that one.
>akito fucks the milf in that one.
