The original Mobile Suit Gundam and the Movie Char's Counterattack are the best. You can skip Zeta.
I watched UC in release order. If you're going to be a faggot that just wants to watch Origin or Unicorn don't bother.
Start with the first one and watch the rest in release order. Just like with every other franchise. I still don't understand why this is such a difficult concept for people.
Because they're bandwagon jumpers that just want to watch the trendy shit and speed through the franchise as quickly as possible.
I just don't want to waste my time watching shitty side stories and filler that doesn't add to any overall storylines.
Speaking of storylines, this is one of those franchises with multiple universes right?
With that logic JoJo people would have to start with the shitty 90s Stardust Crusader OVAs
>I just don't want to waste my time watching shitty side stories and filler that doesn't add to any overall storylines.
Why? Enjoy stories for themselves.
In big franchises there's probably a lot of lower quality shit.
This person is braindead, ignore him.
Honestly they all suck.
Become a .
Nigga, you want to watch Gundam. Get used to it.
considering the last part of the flowchart, are most of the stories standalone?
>puru puru puru
you motherfucker
No they wouldn't you stupid anime only faggot, they would start with the manga since that's the original work.
Fuck off user, not only is your point retarded, but I've also read the manga.
Watch Metal Armor Dragonar instead.
Just watch it nigger
Alright, I think I know what to watch now at least
Thanks anons
>Listing the national stereotype gundams in G as a con
shit list
>I just don't want to waste my time watching shitty side stories and filler that doesn't add to any overall storylines.
People use this excuse with Gundam to not watch the actual series and instead to watch the shitty summary movies. Filler doesn't mean "content that I don't like" or content that doesn't have huge plot revelations. Either watch the series or don't watch it. But skipping 80% of the content in the series under the guise of "filler" is stupid and just shows that someone fits my description perfectly.
you google where it started, and then watch them all from there
the same way you get into any fucking anime series, jesuschrist.
I’ve only seen wing and recently watched 0079 dubbed of course
The 0079 movies aren't a good replacement for the tv series.
I know because I shoved my cousin into them, and then he came up with the stupidest opinions ever
>why is Amuro being a cry baby over here?
I had to show him the episode where he was having PSTD for all the men he killed, and then he realized he was being a cry baby because he realized there are men, with actual families, inside the zakus he tears apart.
Then he went
>so Lalah's death was Char's fault...
And I go "No, it wasn't", and then I have to show him the episode where they fight and how it was everyone's fault.
There were other moments that I had to show him the tv series version because the movies were changing their characters. I just remember these two, specially the first one I mentioned, because my cousin was so pissed off they cut that entire episode from the movies. He went all "why would they do that? Amuro is a very sympathetic character and the movie was making me believe he was autistic"
TL;DR: the movies suck, source: My cousin
There are people that are so retarded that they watch the summary movies and then wish there was more downtime and character interactions. The White Base characters outside of Amuro are barely even characters in the movies. Every time a Gundam thread pops up people recommend the movies but I find it hard to believe that anyone could enjoy them. That's probably why there's always people saying 0079 is shit, because they only watched the movies.
Depends on the person. I have only seen the series and disliked it a lot for how slow it was, but that's mostly because I neither liked the characters nor found them particularly interesting. Plus every episode having 8-10 minutes of action which looks extremely dated is tiring to sit through when nothing significant is happening in most of these cases in terms of character advancement and it's clearly just meant to showcase the toys.
t. literal zoomer
Thanks.
0079 is a pleb filter. Once you get past the early arc of Amuro running away it all comes together and only gets better.
You mean when it turns into random Zeon fucko of the week for 20 episodes straight?
This. Specially the white base characters and how they all come together and form a big family.
I liked how the white base got progressively wounded. Really felt like a war of attrition.
And is actually paid off through the plot having a reason of why they were constantly attacked? Yeah, ya bitch.
Basically if you want to get into the main UC Gundam series you have to watch: Original>Zeta >ZZ>CCA. Only then can you watch the other UC Gundam series.
Otherwise, the non-UC Gundam series are self contained stories and can be watched on their own without any specific order.
Never been a big of Gundam series but it is undeniable that Gundam Wings>>>>>any Gundam series out there
I sure hope it'd be justified by the plot, that's basic storytelling. But that doesn't make it not padding especially when any given episode has maybe 3 minutes of actually meaningful information or interactions. There are very rare exceptions during that period that actually explore themes like the episode in which they drop off the civilians, but again those are the exception.
>any given episode has maybe 3 minutes of actually meaningful information
That's literally any anime ever.
Absolutely not. You need only look at Zeta which actually bothers to develop its entire cast (and even give most of them character arcs) rather than only establishing base personalities like 0079 does with anyone who is not named Amuro or Sayla or Char. It spins its wheels occasionally, but nearly as much as 0079 and the obligatory action scenes every episode, aside from being watchable, most of the time have some measure of being character-driven in addition to plot-related reasons.
Yes unless it has a sequel like SEED to SEED Destiny.
Technically speaking, turn A is related with all shows but you can enjoy it without watching all shows.
Watching 0079 is enough.
>complains about filler
>brings up Zeta which has producer mandated mech battles in every episode even if they do nothing but take up time
You can summarize every episode of Zeta under 3 minutes without losing anything. You can do the same to any anime. From Full Metal Alchemist to Hunter x Hunter, from Dragon Ball (Christ they probably have 1 minute of actual meaning information at best per episode) to Shingeki no Kyojin, from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann to Code Geass, from Sailor Moon to Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.
Every anime, ever made, is only worth about 3 minutes of your time. That doesn't make any of them any less fun.
Which Gundam series is your favorite? For me, its Gundam X.
Iron Blooded Orphans.
I hope you're being retarded on purpose.
What you have done is the equivalent of putting your hands over your ears. You have not bothered to engage with anything I've said. Perhaps you misunderstood that I was referring to 3 minutes of runtime within the 24 minute episode, not being able to summarize episodes within 3 minutes.
Even after the ending?
It is the ending that made it my favorite show.
>villain wins
>gundam faggots got wrecked
>third wheel fag killed himself, villain spits on his dead body and does everything he wanted to do, ultimately confirming he died for absolutely fucking nothing
>the villain, fucking wins, no amount of plot armor saved the heroes
Based show.
>What you have done is the equivalent of putting your hands over your ears
Is that any different that what you have done during this entire thread?
Summarize an episode within 3 minutes will require you to cut clips and paste them together with everything important that happened. This would amount to 3 minutes of runtime within a 24 minute episode.
All anime has paddling, it's how a TV-Show is made, I would even go as far as to say that this isn't exclusive to anime, but to cartoons and 3DPD shows.
They aren't even 24 minutes show, 1:30 the opening, 1:30 the ending, 2 minutes of recap, 30 seconds of "what's gonna happen next episode?"
You always end up with around 17 minutes of a given anime. Saying you can summarize circa 15 minutes under 3 minutes is not an exaggeration, it is not only a fact, but also a perfectly acceptable thing.
Me too, hated the main cast since they were boring as hell so imagine my surprise when the last ten episodes turned into pic related. Would've been happy if chocoman won but the fun of seeing the villains absolutely win and the butthurt from IBO fans were priceless.
I liked the entire cast tho. The only character I hated was the fat fuck that died on S1.
I just enjoy surprises, and the ending was an incredibly nice surprise.
Believe what you like, you seem to be hard set in your opinion anyway. It's my fault for even bothering to acknowledge your strawman and allowing you to make the entire disagreement about it. I didn't even think my points as a whole were very strong but I at least tried to engage with what you were saying entirely rather than responding to one part of a post and then refusing to talk about anything else.
>Believe what you like
And I'm the one doing the equivalent of covering my ears? You just did it yourself, AGAIN.
>that image
Literally Dragging-on: the show. Filled to the brim with paddling.
puru puru puru puru
puru puru puru puru
puru puru puru puru
puru puru puru puru
I like IBO for that as well. Jut the idea that of course a bunch of ragtag young mercs aren't going to win in a world where they are being manipulated by several forces that are more competent and outplayed them. Them winning in the end would have made the show lesser for it.
They never even stood a chance, I liked the whole tragedy of everything. The final fight was a slaughter.
Fine, you've read the manga. My point is still valid though.
My brother. I have a three way tie for favorite TV gundam: original, X and Turn A. My favorite movie is Char's Counterattack and my favorite OVA is 0080 War in the Pocket.
honestly skip char's counterattack too, if you feel like it
gundam's only ever presented to newcomers as this open-ended franchise that goes off in a million different directions but the original show really is just better than everything that came after and had little reason to be expanded on
zeta, zz, and cca are all as great as a story that doesn't need to exist can be great
the tv cut of the original show is amazing though
I started ZZ a year ago and can't find any motivation to continue
it's just so fucking bad
This guide is shit it’s way better to watch 0080 8th ms team 0083 and thunderbolt after finishing 0079
All you need is CCA and Turn A the rest is all garbage.
Except Gundam SEED DESTINY. Easily the best Gundam series ever made.
Those are all my favorites too but overall I would put war in the pocket and turn a above everything else
>Missing all those Zeta references after the fact
Ok.
Only applies to 0083 really, I think watching the others after 0079 is fine too.
Release order if you're not a cock collector.
>DEFINITIVE HOW TO WATCH GUNDAM INSTRUCTIONS BELOW
Watch every series starting from the first one through and including Turn A.
Ignore anything post 2000.
There. Thats how you watch it, anything else is wrong.
Watch Gundam 0079, which was the first one, and then forget there are other Gundams.
Gundam wasn't popular before they made toys, but the toys only started to be made in the 80s. There was still quite a lot of Gundam before they were selling toys of it, so it's easy to see that it wasn't a toy commercial back then. With the new Gundams, it's blatant. But 0079 was not a toy commerical.
>it must be edgy and deep to be good
fuck zoomers, mobile suit gundam is the best
I never watched Z or ZZ, but I got most of the major plot points by playing the Dynasty Warriors Gundam series.
War in the Pocket for story and Thunderbolt for style.
Where in the fuck did this image come from gookmoot?
I don't understand the "Zeta is darker than 0079" line of thinking. Nobody fucking dies for the overwhelming majority of Zeta's runtime. There'll be a fight every episode where Jerid or whoever just goes blasting off again at the end with no consequences or drama whatsoever. It's just fight after fight with no tension.
In 0079 characters that we know from both factions are in convincing danger when they sortie, and the show doesn't hesitate to kill of a good chunk of the supporting cast. The crowd of civilians getting blown up in the first episode of 0079 is probably more visceral than anything Zeta puts forth.
But I guess everyone dies at the end of Zeta so, ok, so dark and edgy.
I don't know about that, it seems to have been one of the reasons it was cancelled early.

Never said that and you are free to like it for any reason whatsoever.
There are no zeta references in war in the pocket and 08th ms team and watching stardust memory before zeta makes the rise of the Titans not seem like a complete contrivance for the sake of a sequel
Unicorn and thunderbolt are great you fag
So you read the original Beltorchika's Children, you fucking idiot?
Yes, Mobile Suit Gundam was a war and people died throughout. Zeta goes for the shock factor to make it memorable, rather than being a good story. Zeta is bad.
There couldn't even be Zeta references in 0080 or 08th MS Team since they take place at the same time as 0079.
thinking "watch in order" means including non-canonical novels and manga
>00
>Thunderbolt
>Unicorn
>Maybe Hatway
Yeah, just skip the good shit
retard
Production order.
>Unicorn
>good
0083 does have a random Haman cameo that'll be pretty confusing if you're watching it first because she doesn't show up until 30 episodes into Zeta, plus it kind of speeds through the establishment of the Titans at the end which I took as them assuming familiarity already.
>G-Saviour
Unicorn has good mobile suit action and visuals, but the narrative is kind of retarded. It's sort of like Turn A but written by retards.
