>limited animation
Sasuga retarded shounenshitter.
OP said limited animation not forced animation.
How the hell do you make cinegrid webms?
This isn't the best of Bones. Also what is limited animation? low budget?
>Also what is limited animation? low budget?
No, lurk moar. It's non realistic style of motion. It's what 80s OVAs use which are the peak of anime by the way. There are various uses for it like allowing for more details to be moved per fame, more complex choreography or just more creative composition.
Adobe Premiere Pro, but it's ass because of gookmoots 3MB webm limit.
>limited animation
What?
>It's what 80s OVAs use which are the peak of anime by the way
Lol.
They are newfag. They're better than Disney shit could ever dream of being too.
What is it with all the newfags and retards here now?
I don't know, user. Why are you here?
fag
Land of the Lustrous.
No thanks.
Thank you, Pierrot.
sasuga cancer poster
Oops, didnt read the rest of the OP
I didn't remember EoE's animation to be this forced and artificial. Yikes.
Much of that scene is by meme animator Mitsuo Iso who also did the worst cuts in the TV show.
>Mitsuo Iso
My bad, it's exceptional. You on the other hand can go back to r/anime where you came from.
None of this is sakuga?
Sakuga means hand drawn.
>we built these trillion dollar 20 story tall robots
>what should we equip it with?
>a giant box cutter
Mitsuo Iso is a Reddit tier animator
Dreadful portrayal of weight
What does "reddit-tier" even mean?
Kek yeah, the only thing that looked heavy there was the MP's severed arm
I am sure he is. Like all great animators who have worked in Japanese animation. That's why you continuously shill literal whos and probably consider Yutaka Nakamura, the guy who can't even animate debrid properly and has to resort of his meme cubes, the greatest animator of all time because he works on all your cape shit Bones adaptations.
Isn't this from the commercial for one of the volume releases? I don't know how long it is but it's a small amount of content with a probably considerably larger budget than a TV series. These kinds of things make people's expectations really high because they have no idea what the difference is between a 3 minute long commercial and a 13+ episode long series and think they should have identical art and animation quality.
>the guy who can't even animate debrid properly
Iso?
Uh, not that's an embarrassing post of I've ever seen one. I think I should frame it.
Everyone at Trigger is better than him
Posting actual limited animation and wishing this thread the best of luck since sakuga threads are normally total cancer.
lol he's one of the only animators Redditards know
This is complete shit
>triggermeme
>having employees
Limited animation has too broad of a definition. It can mean low number of keyframes, all keyframes with no inbetweens, animation limited to only parts of the drawing, alternative ways of motions like tweening, etc.
You're not uniornically gonna shill Igarashi now, are you. Please tell me this isn't happening.
Kill yourself.
Thanks. Awesome cut.
When did sakuga threads become 100% shitpost?
Adorable post but no less embarrassing.
>Dude I read I'm supposed to pretend to like this shit animator! I am le sakuga expert XD pelleas.net
It's ok, Sakuga_Pro_Deku02. You'll be alright.
1) When Kyoto Animation's fanbase invaded them
2) When people started reading kVINs blog
3) When art school dropouts started talking about distribution of weight
4) When the ironic retro weebs were banned for pre-2000s threads
One or all the above.
cancer
Why such a lack of impact? Looks weightless.
>Yoshinori Kanada
cringe
It's all of those things. Never heard it refer to "tweening" though.
We're all Kyoanifags though and they're the original sakugafags.
>limited animation
As opposed to unlimited animation? The fuck are you talking about?
Imaishi, Yoshinari, and Sushio are the most sakuga animators of all time
Gonna frame this one as well.
>limited animation
>sakuga
Oxymoron.
>disliking one of the best and most influential Japanese animators of all time for contrarian brownie points
I shiggy diggy.
Sakuga was always a meme concept made up by niwaka
Limited huh
Remove "shi" from Imaishi and replace Sushio with someone else like Iso, trigger cultist then maybe it would be a tiny bit accurate.
Is Macross the king of limited animation?
You people are everything that is wrong with this accursed board.
So Limited Animation means Shit-tier animation? Ok then
Sakuga is higher animation than usual.
Limited animation is actually called dishonest animation, it’s filled with cutscenes and lights so they don’t have to animate everything.
this whole fight was something
DYRL is the visual peak of the medium
>is actually called dishonest animation
You sure it isn't called timeflop animation?
>best
LMAO
>most influential
Doesn't mean shit
Here is your LIMITED ANIMATION bro.
youtu.be
hey that's actually pretty dope, what's it from?
Friendly reminder the 3 best animators to have ever lived are Walt Disney, Hayao Miyazaki and Yuri Norstein. Isao Takahata is also pretty good, but only makes top 5 together with Mamoru Oshii. Now sit down, contrarians.
Indeed Kekmetsu is limited animation with that CGI
DYRL is legitimately nothing special visually in the realm of anime movies and even OVAs. And it's a shit movie on top of that. Your image barely even has any animation in it and there's nothing worth talking about in regards to the art.
I can't believe I won't ever experience another Land of the lustrous in my life time
this is extremely painful to watch
Are you reading the manga?
>this post
Love this thread. I really do. Good times.
>mentally deranged nigger can't understand art
user I...
Yes unfortunately
Layzner
I know you're trolling and like to spam that shit but here is an actually excellent piece of limited animation. It's professional, it looks great, keys are consistent as fuck, does justice to the shows artstyle etc..
Specifically the old 2D version they scrapped.
youtube.com
Wow those backgrounds looks fucking incredible. Seriously what happened, how is modern "anime" so shit now? For real.
That looks like shit
This looks like trash.
They didn't scrap it. It was specifically made to be a commercial. Just like I said in an earlier post, you retards see a 2 minute ad animation and think that kind of quality would be the same in a 13+ episode series.
Holy shit
Too lazy to gif the Gon vs Hanzo fight, so here's this.
Animation aside. This looks retarded.
This. It's shit compared to anything Madhouse did around the same time and Harmagedon a year before.
Fuck off plebs.
>Madhouse
>animation
>during the 80s of all things
Lol.
You look like shit
This looks amazing. Based Doga Kobo, saving anime.
Wish I could find the version of the subs for this show without the retarded male pronouns.
I just auto filtered them out of my head when I red them. Why people waste time getting caught I'll never understand
what the fuck? i think i'm about to vomit
Kanada is simply the best. It's not a fact that everyone wants to accept but it will always be staring you in the face regardless.
>hurr durr if it's realistically fluid it's bad
Kill yourself.
Nah, but your whore mother does.
Hey, that's not how Lasers work! And why are all the people running like that? Who animated that leprechaun? This is garbage you're delusional
It's a promotion for the manga you idiot
Is this another troll WebM where you try to discredit someone by posting a substandard clip? Because this is barely animated.
You're garbage nigga
You're trash
Post something good already
This is like the comedically bad version of fluid garbage aka
*barfs*
That was good you sperg.
Gee, now you can clean up what they modeled the motion from!
Fuck it. I'll just link the vid.
What was actually scrapped was the budget since toho had no faith in the adaptation doing well.
>nuh-uh, it w-was good!
Nah nigga, dat dere was doodoo you stupid af haha
Uh yeah they made the best animated films of the 80s. Much better than this slideshow
>wish I could get a version of the show that changes the dialogue instead of translating it
This thread is a joke. There's no way good animation is gonna fit inside puny 3-4MB webm.
Oh yeah, that reminds me. A fujo anime has far better animation than your shounen, anons.
sakugabooru.com
It's a shame I can't simply spam Evergarden videos here. That would riled you up wouldn't it.
Here, I compressed another webm for your blind ass. You should feel grateful.
Wish more anime had this kind of soul, honestly.
Dude that's terrible. Utter garbage who were you trying to fool?
See, you're riled up already. Ahh it's really a shame.
The fuck is this.
Yeah you posted something awful. Please keep low quality posts in shonen threads please thanks!
got more of this cool stuff?
I'm so glad that Kigami is fucking dead. Piece of shit overrated hack.
>There's no way good animation is gonna fit inside puny 3-4MB webm.
Length =/= quality
>sakugabooru.com
The CGI ruins this cut. Miss Kigami, though. Rest in peace.
Compressing those is such a waste. If retards didn't spam useless webm this site could have a much greater file size limit but nah, gotta have those shit nardo tier spams.
sakugabooru.com
Based ESL.
Wow this board is fucked, absolute shit thread. Props to the guy who posted Kanada. The Trigger guy was alright too but only Imaishi and Sushio do limited. Yoshinari and especially Iso don't do limited animation, but they're both great. 90% of this thread doesn't even know what limited animation is and uses fake buzzwords like forced animation. Iso isn't reddit tier he hasn't done shit for like 10 years, the only animator reddit knows is Nakamura.
My advice to all the newfags is to lurk more but mainly try to learn shit in other places than Yea Forums. Clearly this place isn't teaching you shit and you're retarded to think that it would.
Jeez testy
Cmon don't be jealous user.
youtu.be
>My advice to all the newfags
You should probably follow your own advice, then. Let me guess? 50 anime watched?
>Wow this board is fucked
Welcome to 2014, slowpoke
>especially Iso don't do limited animation
Is this a joke post?
Nice.
Not him but that animation is great, you deffo have aspergers.
Aw posting strawmen already. I never said anything about the length of the clip itself, now did I? Cute.
Watch as the shounen kid tries to be edgy as he copes.
>realistically fluid
Well user if you have low standards sure it's fluid.
>MAL E-peen
certainly way over that, if you disagree with anything I said you need to watch more. Then again, sitting through absolute trash staring at subs won't teach you shit about animation.
Show me limited Iso animation then. Doesn't exist.
Nah you're just easy to please. That shit looks just as bad as DBS, you blind bastard.
Nothing tops this limited animation. OP may as well end the thread here. There isn't as single sequence in tv anime as impressive as this.
>anyone coming to/a/ to learn about animation
user you can not be serious. It's like you never knew /ic/ existed.
I don't think iand did not say t looks good you tranny. Just that it's more impressive than most shit you see these days.
50 anime watched it is. Professional animation expert lacking noteworthy amounts of experience with the medium. Oh oh oh, such a sight to behold. Senpai oshiete kudasai.
fuck, this is giving me an eyegasm
>VEGniggers
Hey this stuff is really good. Surprised people don't post it more often.
>t.summer
>shounentard is mad his favourite show wont ever have production values as high as the glorious Evergarden
AHA HA
>bunch of art school dropouts from /m/, /ic/ and r/anime about good and bad animation
It's like going to /his/ for complex legal discussions.
This looks really dynamic. Love the aesthetic movements.
No sakuga from this season?
Plenty lmao.
Ah, forgot about one thing.
>Miss Kigami, though. Rest in peace.
Worry not, Ishidate is still alive to carry this legacy. Kigami left us somebody who can actually make 2D mecha, not to mention his skill with metallic objects and fluid movements.
sakugabooru.com
sakugabooru.com
sakugabooru.com
sakugabooru.com
Not a great deal of realistic sakuga fluidity wise but sakuga sure.
Feet bakugo has some when it isnt boring 80% of the time
Ishidate is a top tier background animator too.
I can't believe how overrated this flick is
>let me bask in my superior intellect of not saying anything
Nah. Underrated considering the spammer posting those webms.
>he still acknowledges the samefagging
Much to learn.
is this meant to look like total ass?
I'm too lazy to resize it so I can post it. But Kawajiri's assassination scene in Haguregumo really impressed me in just how incredibly viscera it managed to be due to it utilizing limited animation techniques. I notice several motifs borrowed from late 60s stuff like Sabu and Ichi's Detective Tales that Kawajiri still liked to use even in (mostly) full animated works like Bloodlust, its a cool little piece of Mushi pro genealogy that he carried on to Madhouse with him through his whole career.
sakugabooru.com
Also, the Barefoot Gen nuclear explosion is quite limited framerate wise, but it serves to its advantage because it kind of drags you through each minute horrific alteration as the city gets nuked and everyone melts away, and it gives it a kind of added eirieness due to the unnatural timing. The color composition and the drawings themselves are really great as well, its a genuinely haunting cut like no other.
This is kind of limited in a way since Iso's style is based around Usunomiya's idea that you can create motion that feels realistic with lots of key frames on 2s and 3s and minimizing the inbetweening, and that this will often work out better than trying to overload your cuts with 1s just to get mimetic fluidity that may still not even get the job done anyways. Iso just took it a step further and eliminated all the inbetweening, which is why his animation always manages to be so well worked out, there is never any room for an inbetweener to fuck up the cut with an off drawing.
That cut itself is pretty legendary for how extremely detailed and perfectly weighted all the motions are, though I think his cut from Voogie's Angel episode 3 is my favorite by him. That whole sequence just gives me goosebumps, and its absolutely bizarre that such a trash OVA has such a well animated final episode.
Are there any good 2D western animators? Disney and the lot dont do 2D anymore.
I'll never forgive that fat nigger for Kigami.
Bring back the breaking wheel.
Does this count?
youtube.com
I don't know but i heard some were inspired to take up limited animation due to anime's ever rising popularity. I wonder if anyone here knows anything about that?
What's your excuse for how shitty they look?
He refers to his style as "Full limited" actually. Its kind of a weird hybrid between the two ideals as I see it.
en.wikipedia.org
"Mitsuo Iso is known for his jerky yet detailed animation, full of dense sophisticated motion. He refers to his own style as "full limited". In traditional animation, animation with a drawing count below one drawing every two frames (or "on twos") is considered limited animation. Mixing twos, threes and fours in a balanced form of timing, Iso draws every keyframe without passing his work to an in-betweener, allowing him full control to create the most detailed motion possible with a balanced and efficient number of drawings, hence the term "full limited"."
I would suggest just trying to ignore that 75% percent of hyperbolic shitposters who can't meaningfully contribute and only respond to the decent posts. They are like the kids who eat ants in elementary school to get attention - they don't know any other way to get others to pay attention to them.
They honestly look incredible, especially the second one and the less than satisfactory character sequences are pretty inoffensive. Just look at those awesome fucking backgrounds.
Yes, they are called French people.
>SHaKy CaM
it's so shit.
That's awesome
Reminds me of Genndy Tatokovsky's work. Speaking of, I forgot about him, I loved all his animations.
Where did you hear that? Not denying it but that sounds interesting. Agh, I dont pay attention to western animation enough.
>Where did you hear that? Not denying it but that sounds interesting. Agh, I dont pay attention to western animation enough.
Here actually. Someone mentioned it an animation thread months ago.
>Genndy Tartakovsky
He's getting a new show on Adult Swim called Primal, looks pretty cool
There's a ninja turtles series on Nickelodeon that has a lot of kanada-esque animation going on, think it started in 2018, saw the first episode. Personally I thought the timing was kinda odd but it was really cool to see, only haven't watched cause it's very tv-7 in it's writing.
Symphogear is the sakuga show of the season.
Holy shit you are brain damaged. He literally made one of the best action scenes of all time and it's one of the best pieces of limited animation too.
Yeah I saw it during SDCC, it looks awesome I cant wait for the fall. And yeah the Ninja Turtles show has some really good animation for a ninja Turtles TV show. You can taste the kill la kill likeness.
I've posted more of his animation work in this thread. See webm related and Sadly most people are not attentive enough to spot sakugabooru links. The only way to make cuts stand out is to post them directly.
Length and fidelity are the only things that effect filesize and you can trim and compress videos with little effort. Say what you want about compression but it does not effect the technical quality of the animation in any way.
This is really good CG integration. Shame VEG's visual direction is mostly uninspired and boring.
Ishidate's animation is no doubt incredible, definitely some of KyoAni's best. He's still got some ways to go as a director, though. Not too fond of his output so far in that regard.
>This is really good CG integration
Should probably get your eyes checked. The typewriter stands out like a sore thumb.
>Shame VEG's visual direction is mostly uninspired and boring.
What do you mean by this? It's the best ever.
>Shame VEG's visual direction is mostly uninspired and boring.
More like unparalleled visual direction. Name something you think has better visual direction then?
Step aside
This is peak limited animation
youtube.com
It's totally flat and uninteresting. The only thing differentiating it from your average seasonal trash is the production values.
That's not limited animation though it's retarded animation. Season 1 was so much better.
>Name something you think has better visual direction then?
Watch almost anything from Dezaki, Rintaro, Shinbou (note that Shinbou =/= Shaft), or Ikuhara.
Flat in terms of what, composition? Because if that's the case the scene doesn't need it.
>The only thing differentiating it from your average seasonal trash is the production values.
So you're just going to ignore that they're animating extremely complex distorted light reflections with consistency? Are you going to ignore the environmental tone too? On top of that it's not like seasonal shit in the last few years have even been hand drawing their mechanics so there's that too.
Those may be good but honestly Evergarden doesn't get nearly enough credit.
>Dezaki, Rintaro, Shinbou (note that Shinbou =/= Shaft), or Ikuhara.
Pfff. You know, you had me until Rintaro, although I gotta say. Mentioning Dezaki already made me raise my eyebrows. Adding Ikuhara however, haha, I've gotta say: OVERKILL. The most incompetent director working in anime today. Who person who thinks more equals better, so he throws repeating symbols at his audience in an attempt to appear sophisticated. If that's good visual directing, then I am David Cronenberg.
Yes, I've acknowledged that the show has good production values no matter what I think of anything else (namely the filters which I think they went a bit overboard with. It's a necessary evil for some of the CG compositing but even those scenes didn't need to be nearly as dolled up as they were.) but the cinematography on the whole is just lame.
>Because if that's the case the scene doesn't need it.
I completely agree with you. This one scene in particular didn't need to be framed any differently to convey anything but I felt like most of the show would have benefited from slightly more interesting cinematography.
this one is a food snob, give him mcdonalds while saying it's some gourmet shit and he'll shower it with praise
this one doesn't know ishidate is the only kyoto director that actually went through college to learn directing stuff whereas the rest had to pick up techniques from elsewhere
Yeah, I'm not surprised that someone who thinks that VEG looks good hates all those directors. VEG isn't even KyoAni's best looking TV series.
>this one doesn't know ishidate is the only kyoto director that actually went through college to learn directing stuff whereas the rest had to pick up techniques from elsewhere
Even taking that into account I'm not terribly impressed by his stuff at all. Besides, Takemoto learned from the best of best.
>VEG isn't even KyoAni's best looking TV series.
Yes it is.
>VEG isn't even KyoAni's best looking TV series.
What is then? If you say Nichijou i'll beat you to death.
Oh, you guys.
Hyouka is close, I'll give you that.
Hyouka? If that's what you're talking about, it's like Evergarden's prototype. Evergarden is like, "what if Hyouka was a high budget movie"
Thanks for at least trying to see eye to eye. I'm glad we could have this conversation.
Why Hyouka? I don't fucking get it, it's practically inferior to Evergarden in every way. The designs are less detailed/ambitious and the sequences are not as impressive save that one crowd shot.
>art school dropout teenagers talk about visual directing
>one of them suddenly refers to character designs
Always amusing.
>It's shit
>wait it's good now because I know who made it
Typical Iso Reddit drone
>took 3 hours
Damn. I was hoping for a much faster response. Now the tension has kinda died down.
This is garbage. KnY has quite a few fluid scenes which look disgusting and are mixed in with noticeable and bad cgi.
Fuuuk. That looks good.
Why are action scenes never this good? This easily BTFO of most yutapon shit.
Forced animation.
that wasn't my point
what I'm trying to say is that ishidate plays really well by the rules, he structured and pictured his latest anime very nicely even though 13 episodes were clearly too few for that sort of story
>even though 13 episodes were clearly too few for that sort of story
Not him, i actually think this worked to his advantage somewhat. One of Evergarden's standout features is it's ability to move people to tears in just a single episode. Given the time constraints it's great stuff. There's isn't another anime like it.
there isn't but making it 1 cour was a mistake
hell, if netflix is gonna get involved just do it in 13x45 minutes format because now I hear they're doing two sequel movies for it
clearly it should've been longer than 13x23 minutes long and I can't help but think it would've been a giant among giants if it was given the time it required
It's weird how Kyoani are handling Evergarden, they could've given it a season 2 but instead chose movies and OVAs. The Eien to Jidou Shuki Ningyou movie is confirmed to be 1 hr & 31 mins and if the other movie is at least that long then they both add up to around 9 episodes in total run-time. The Ep 4.5 OVA is 40mins long so that's worth 2 episodes in runtime and then there's the 13th episode of the aired anime. That's exactly 24 episodes of runtime so the format is interesting. IIRC Kyoukai only got the one movie that wasn't a recap.
This.
yuck
oh look this thread seems semi-decent.
Speaking of limited animation, what’s the verdict on Jun Arai? Do people still think his stuff his the “parody of the kanada style?” Always felt that critque was too harsh for a few lackluster cuts he put out from time to time.
kek
I love it in the Absolute Duo EDs, they're so stylish.
this is fucking hilarious
My man.
>kyoani
>having employees
What is this non sequitur? Are you KHK?
I just wanted to make the joke
does this count
As forced animation? Why yes, yes it does.
oh ok
No, but this does.
Peak kyoani
The VEG OVA and Movie will be the last time for a while that we get this level of animation.
Hatta said it would take them 10 years to get where they were with Evergarden in 2018. 10 fucking years, i don't wanna wait that long and no more kigami FUCK.
That doesn't mean they'll take 10 years to make something with VEG's level or above, it means they'll take 10 years to produce so many things at once.
Also the 2020 movie is safe as far as we're aware. Considering the ridiculous level of detail presented on the poster, it might be the last huge effort we see from them.
Yuru Yuri is superior. Surprised no one posted this masterpiece in 200+ posts.
I used to hate his work, but I've warmed up to him over the years.
That "5 - 10 year" number was given by a unrelated "expert", not Hatta.
>I built this hyperfrequency cutter, but the blade keeps shattering. I've got a heavier one in the works, but what should I do with this one?
>"Score the blade every 2 meters. If it's going to break, just let it break and use the clean edge."
nice
Any good KyoAni stuff, I hear that stuff is fire.
fag
No
