whys she like that?

The first two movies are shit compared to the tv version.

original tv version with the slow as fuck intro and all.

original anime

why?

The movies are generally better paced, have better animation and removed some of the crappier parts of the show like the larger suicide by kerosene fire subplot which felt stupid. What the show has over the movies is the buildup to the moment that we all know what we are talking about.
One peculiar aspect of the movie and if you only watch the movie is the ambiguity of the powers of the magical girls. In the movie they don't explain Mamis backstory and Kyokos source of money and time period of her families Christian religion. My friend who only watched the movies thought that the whole magical girl aspect affected their perception of time itself and that magical girls created food constructs out of nowhere. Basically the show states that Kyokos and Mami are from modern times and Kyokos essentially steals shit to survive, the movies makes it seem that food unconsciously appears out of nowhere for them to eat and tat Kyoko is potentially several decades older than she is.

TV version and pretend the movies never happened or you'll just get an unsatisfying ending.

>rebellion
>unsatisfying

pacing seemed more organic, the show was a clusterfuck, and so was their life.

>Skirt and socks only
Good god

It was written as a 12 episode series and has pacing to fit it. The two recap movies cut a lot if scenes that should be watched.

If you can find it, watch the fancut, which edits in a lot of the prettier movie visuals into the original 12 episodes.

Then watch the third movie, Rebellion. It's one of anime's great plebian filters.

If you thought the ending was supposed to be conclusive you're literally wrong, look up the butcher interview where he says something along the lines it was just a way to leave it open for a sequel.

Fancutfags.

I love this pairing so much! I know they're both enemies but why are they so cute together?

Watch the show, if you love it then watch the third movie. Third movie isn't very good but It's interesting if you're a fan of the series. First two movies are just worthless recap of the show.

I only watched movies to. I recall the scene where Sayka shames Kyoko for stilling an apple. So I wouldn't say they didn't explain that. Also they do give background for Kyoko's relation to his father and the whol Christian thing.

Basing on the weird shafty artstyle it was in I thought it was really way back in time

The outro after each episode alone make the tv version an absolute must. Movie my ass.

With that logic you could just watch ending on repeat

That guy is just shitposting.

lmao no

The ebin episode 10 ending

TV anime with [gg] subs

>disc version with minor changes
BD anime with any subs

>Recap with some changes to smooth out the story/animation/music/etc and make it fit a trilogy
Movies 1-2

>Controversial sequel movie
Movie 3

Fancutfags version.

These, why settle for just the better pacing from the tv anime or the better visuals from the movies when you can have both?

I get the feeling that the transitions between movie and TV would be pretty distracting, but I'd have to watch it and see.

They're noticeable, but I didn't think it was too bad. There's just a few QUALITY scenes that really stand out since the movie skipped them.

>There's just a few QUALITY scenes that really stand out since the movie skipped them.

If I try watching the official TV version now that I'm used to Fancutfags, the same shots bother me just as much anyway, and the shots that Fancutfags fixes bother me even more.

Just watch it and don't sit like Homura she's weird.

I just watched the movies today. I understood fuckall about the plot.

Specifically, I watched Rebellion today. The TV anime I watched about a year ago. I didn't watch any episode to refresh my mind or see the recap movies. Maybe that's why it bordered in nonsensical for me.

Filthy bitches. They should be wearing shoes.

Rebellion takes multiple watches to fully wrap your head around.

It cuts out some good scenes.
Watch fancutfags because there is one part in episode 10 where the expression in the movie is a lot better than the BDs but the original is ok.
Also op you need to get out of this thread before you get spoiled.
It works well enough. It's not as jarring as you think but I have no idea how it would be for a first time viewer.
There are some things the show did better and some things the movie did better.
At the end of episode 7 when Sayaka is fighting the witch the voice acting for the movie is a lot better, but I prefer the subdued music of the tv version.
I didn't like the cut to the her soul gem when Mami gets merk'd, it takes away from the suddenness of her death.

Why not both :3
Be sure to skip Rebellion though

You know why.

There's no contest, Madoka was done to be seen as 12 episodes with their own cliffhangers and twists and opening and ending.
I mean I also think it's like one short 4 hours movie so probably not much was lost when adapting it, but I still think cliffhangers add to the experience.
