Bleach flopped hard thanks to a very burned out Kubo but I'm not going to mindlessly shit all over it just because of that. There are genuinely good parts about it that are worth defending and still appreciating despite it's failures. Ichigo's character, especially in the early chapters, being one of them.

Yusuke wasnt a womanizer you absolute retard. His whole character arc is about the fact that he really isnt going anywhere in life. The whole show is about him being dragged into understanding he needs to grow up. The whole time Yusuke is very much like ichigo, a reactionary protagonist. The difference is, unlike bleach, the characters in yuyu hakusho are inevitably tied to yusuke due to his actions. Yusuke saves kurama's mom and kurama. He makes everyone give Hiei a second chance. He is a rival to kuwabara. Genkai and Toguro, each in their own way, are trying to teach him a lesson. Sensui tests his world view, and finally Rizen gives him his inheritance.

The problem with ichigo is that the characters affected by his actions (classmates + rukia and renji) very quickly fade into irrelevance, and too many new characters and groups are introduced that literally forcr him into situations way in over his head so he cant properly show us who he is or why any one matters to him.

I have fond memories of bleach but im very comfortable calling out its flaws and while ichigo is a great character with a lot of potential, it was very quickly squandered. And thats one of its minor flaws.

Bleach was always about the action and the "twist" though, so just appreciate what the author was trying to deliver and dont be so anal about what went poorly
