The current set if pillars is made of extraordinarily strong pillars, but there could and probably were much weaker pillars in the past. Did you your boy crush make skip over the whole point of Kaigaku and Zenitsu's contrast? Kaigaku would never grow, that was the point, Zenitsu and Kaigaku had the same starting point, orphans with no one who eventually ended up under a demon hunter master, they were raised under the same conditions but Kaigaku never cared for that, he wanted to be on top at the exclusion of everybody else, Zenitsu just wanted to feel wanted, growing stronger was just a mean to realize his dream of being wanted by others now to protect them.

He stand up to Daki to defend a girl, while not as strong as UM1, she still heavily outclassed him. And he was conscious when he do that. Kaigaku always look out for himself first before other people.

The OST (only 5 tracks by Kajiura, Go Shiina soundtrack will be released later) is already out in Japan. The full ED was advertised to be included in the Gurenge single, but it wasn't there for some reasons. There is no further news about the ED.
