If you can't beat him, you can ask for help and someone else will kill him. If they do, you still get part of the reward.
Assisting someone costs tickets, but you can get a ton of rewards if you're MVP, so try to aim for those at full health. Characters you use for assistance can be reused indefinitely, so you can just go with your full A team. I only did that 4-5 times, but it seems you fight on your own rather than using co-op mechanics.
Oh, and apparently unlike the previous event this time characters are limited and won't be added to the store or the gacha.
