Considering the manga, it is clear that a GuP story can absolutely work without Miho. Honestly I would love for the anime to move perspective a bit away from her, and exchange Mihos plot armor for more strategic fights. Having every single opposing team lose 2+ tanks in a fight because the tank commanders rushed in chase of 1 Ooarai tank is starting to get old.

Ribbon Warrior already has fleshed out other characters with their own stories and ambitions, enough to carry a few chapters by themselves without the MC, this was because everyone saw Miho and became inspired by her. Main GUP could very easily do the same with all the arcs they have settep up

To be fair, I like those MCs. The ones that seem plain, and are a bit shy to show off, but at the same time can kick the ass of basically anyone. However, to use your picture, those other two fight as individuals. As such their plot armor, their OP powers, and their feats are theirs, and theirs alone. Another example is Hibiki from Symphogear. The problem with Miho is that she is the captain in a team sport. A huge amount of her plot armor comes from opponents behaving retardedly, or her team having short bursts of kill streaks. Want to see a well written OP character in a team fight? Look at Kitamura Kou from Cross game. A key point is that his team struggles, because even though Kou pitches so the opponent gets no hits, they still have to score points against the opposing pitcher. A GuP example would be the Saunders fight. It really was Miho making several good calls, which resulted in Hana being in position to shoot the flag tank. Importantly, Saunders was always a real threat, and were always actively fighting their own fight. As an example of horrible Miho plot armor, look at the fight with Pravda, and how Katyusha fucking stopped all activity just so Miho could "power up" her team morale and create a bullshit plan. Something as simple as the fact that Ooarai lost no tanks when pushed into the building is enough to ruin the semblance of an enemy with a chance to win. That game really should have either been lost,or been turned into something akin to the Gloriana match, where Ooarai has to use a few tanks to decisively aim for the flag tank in some sort of "guerilla" warfare. The OP of Miho gets really no chance to be about her making quick calls in stressful situations, rather it is the enemy missing every single shot and getting picked off one by one in some Looney Tunes style Wack-a-Mole. I mean what the fuck was that last scene on the bridge of Das Finale 1? The scriptwriter was straight up disrespectful towards the frenchies.

The history nerds are good and the references make just as much sense as in the sub. Yukaris voice acting is not great but everyone else is fine in my opinion. Duce's voice fits well but I haven't actually watched the ova in Japanese only english. The most fitting voice I think is Sodoko's voice. Sodoko is voiced by Tiffany Grant.
