MangaPlus

What's the deal and purpose of MangaPlus? They release a lot of titles translated to English 'officially' at instant speed free of charge.
Do they want for scanlators to drop off their series MangaPlus releases as well? Do they want to make western audience buy tankobon releases? Do they want to profit from ad revenue?
I genuinely don't understand their purpose.

they only let you read the first 3 and the 3 most recent chapters. it's a potentially viable hosting model

>Make scanlators drop their SJ projects
>THEN start charging for a subscription
Not right now obviously, but in a few years, who knows?

What do you not understand? You already answered your own post.

tell me can you name 5 anime sub groups?

I have read 10 chapters of Spy X Family, it doesn't work.

Both 3 clumped together doesn't seem to be a valid reason to support a business model of free license.

Made me errrr for a bit but doki/kaizoku/UTW/DDY/nanashi

Spy X Family is a digital exclusive so all the chapters are available, the 3 & 3 are for the magazine titles

Oh wait, the Spy X Family is 10 chapters only as well.

>I have read 10 chapters of Spy X Family, it doesn't work.
Not sure how they decide on it but SxF is an exception.
>Both 3 clumped together doesn't seem to be a valid reason to support a business model of free license.
To be more specific they probably hope that instead of reading the scanlations people will read it on mangaplus, which gives them ad revenue.

I am holding off reading Chainsawman on mangaplus, waiting for niggastream because their chav translation feels more suitable for the tone of this manga.

Fucking hate their drm. Can't even save pictures through network tab.

>Mangadex announces Manga Plus support
>around the same time there's influx spike of H and loli manga/doujins in the site
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Because scanlators shit on the source, see space naruto, why not giving them a little bit of money.

retard

Oh wow I tried and failed but I am noob. I downloaded jpg from chrome cache yet cannot open it elsewhere.

Their translations are fucking shit, they take every single sentence literally. What a waste of time, it's revolting. It's been a long time since I've seen translations that bad. What the fuck is 'Yor'?

'Yor' is what the Japanese Mangaka decided was the name of his female characters. He wrote out her name in the roman alphabet as 'Yor'.
Its the same thing with Loid and what will likely happen in the coming chapters with Anya being rewritten as 'Ania' as that is how the author wrote it.

If you disagree then yell at the Mangaka, not the TL team.

>female characters
*female character

This is hilarious because there were the exact opposite complaints on the chapter where she was introduced. The art explicitly had her name listed as "Yor", but then the dialogue in the translation used "Yoru", and every fucking dude in the thread was bitching about the translation was shit for not following the author's actual wording.

Sometimes the author is wrong, and that's pretty common with western names. See all the times that they've written "Rouis".

It's literally backed by Shueisha, they've realised that manga readers expect everything for free so they are giving the official translation of every jump title for free with non intrusive ads.
Slowly scan groups aren't going to keep up and everyone will be using mangaplus

By not be able to keep up, I mean the day Chapters comes out will go from Friday to Saturday then to Sunday then eventually Monday.

They'll probably introduce a subscription feature that lets you read unlimited chapters, download and remove ads

You need to make an userscript with following contents:
URL.revokeObjectURL = () => 0;
That's it.

Also if you want the files to save with proper extension:
Blob = function(Blob) {
return function() {
arguments[1].type = "image/jpeg";
return Reflect.construct(Blob, arguments);
};
}(Blob);

>around the same time there's influx spike of H and loli manga/doujins in the site
that's literally because the sadpanda died.

Pretty much the plan. Anyone who thinks this will be free forever is delusional.

Checked it out, none of the series they have really interest me besides maybe the spy one that everyone seems to be liking and one or two others.
i'll keep using it until tachiyomi stops working them i'm out.

Ayako, Hadena, your-mom, Coalguys, Frostii

yeah totally the reactions were ironic

Mangaplus is only useful if you follow the mangoes weekly, if you like to wait and read a batch in a go it's useless.

The Shonen Jump app already has that + the free chapters

>they only let you read the first 3 and the 3 most recent chapters.
That's how most online manga magazines and shit work. Either first 3 + most recent 3 or first chapter and most recent.

Honestly it's a fine business model and something that I've wished American comics would do as well. Jap companies can be retarded when it comes to piracy but they looked at how manga's consumed now and adjusted accordingly. Even if you have to pay for the back catalog, $2.99 isn't bank breaking or anything considering they could've jewed you out of a whole lot more money. I hope it succeeds just because it'll mean others will have to start getting their act together and re-thinking how they distribute shit in the streaming/binge age. I don't care about Jump's shit for the most part, I really care more for the larger industry effect something like this succeeding can have.

Clever.

Actually nips still have to buy Jump digital version but they get extra content like color version (and ability to vote in toc poll). They can read Jump+ for free.
